Customs Intercepts 195,000 Litres of Smuggled Fuel in Adamawa, Sells Seized PMS at N600 Per Litre

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has uncovered a major fuel-smuggling ring in Adamawa State, seizing over 195,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) during Operation Whirlwind. Officials auctioned part of the intercepted fuel to motorists at N600 per litre to prevent deterioration. The operation, conducted across notorious smuggling routes, resulted in 55 seizures valued at N181.6 million. Customs also reported increasing violent resistance from smugglers but vowed to intensify its crackdown in line with President Tinubu’s directive on national energy security.
