The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Internal Security, Hon. Garba Ibrahim Muhammad, has disclosed that terrorists have issued threats to bomb the National Assembly Complex.

Garba made the revelation on Tuesday during a public hearing on a bill seeking to establish a Legislative Security Directorate, designed to enhance security management and safeguard lawmakers, staff, and visitors within the National Assembly.

“We have received threats from terrorists to bomb the National Assembly Complex and threats from protesters to lock up the National Assembly,” Garba stated.

The lawmaker said the legislature, Nigeria’s seat of democracy, has been increasingly exposed to security threats including car and motorcycle theft, vandalism, infiltration by unregistered visitors, and use of fake identity cards.

He warned that failure to address the lapses could disrupt legislative activities with grave implications for governance and democracy.

He cautioned, “It is obvious that with the ongoing security challenges, if proper measures are not taken, it will truncate legislative activities in the National Assembly. If activities are thwarted, there will be no representation, no oversight, no annual budget, no plenary at all, and that will destabilize legislative procedure, democracy, and the nation at large.”

According to Garba, effective security management requires a coordinated approach, integrating multiple elements to ensure a safe environment for legislative business.

“That is why this Bill is very important. It seeks to address all these challenges and adopt world best practices in parliamentary security procedures and architecture,” he explained.

He said, “The so-called results announced by the regime are a fabrication and a clear subversion of the people’s will.

He lamented that peaceful protesters who took to the streets to denounce the daylight robbery of their votes have been met with gunfire, brutality, and mass arrests.

“Innocent Cameroonians are being killed by their own security forces simply for demanding that their votes count.

“This bloodshed must end immediately. Those who ordered and carried out these killings must be held personally accountable before international law.

“The International Criminal Court (ICC) and the United Nations (UN) must investigate and ensure that justice is done.”

ADC Candidate John Nwosu Blasts Governor Soludo Over Insecurity Ahead of Anambra Polls

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for the November 8 Anambra State election, John Nwosu, has criticized incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo, accusing him of failing the people during his tenure.

Speaking on ‘Prime Time’ on Arise Television, Nwosu highlighted that four years in office is crucial for a state’s progress and said Soludo’s administration has fallen short.

“The indices are there for everyone to see, starting with insecurity. In the last three and a half years, Anambra has lost people to kidnappings,” he stated.



He cited Ihiala Local Government, home to the owner of Air Peace, as a stark example:

“That area has been ravaged by insecurity for over three years. Residents have been forced to hold weddings and burials outside their hometown because they cannot return safely,” Nwosu added.

The Vatican has finally spoken out on the growing international narrative of an alleged genocide against Christians in Nigeria.

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, addressed the issue while presenting a new global report on religious freedom by the Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) in Rome.

His comments come amid heated global debates following remarks made by Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York last month.

Shettima’s call for peace in Gaza sparked a wave of reactions online, with some Western voices, including American security contractor Eric Prince, alleging that Christians in Nigeria were facing genocide.

Prince had even called on “the Vatican, the Pope, President Donald Trump, and Christian leaders worldwide to ‘fund and support’ a private Christian army to ‘protect the Christian community in Nigeria.’”

However, Parolin dismissed such claims, urging caution in labeling Nigeria’s security crisis as religious genocide.

According to him, the violence in Nigeria is not exclusively targeted at Christians but has broader social and ethnic roots.

“It is not a religious conflict. Much of the violence stems from social causes such as land disputes between herders and farmers in the North-Central region,” he said.

“We should also recognise that many Muslims in Nigeria are themselves victims of this same intolerance. These are extremist groups that make no distinctions in pursuing their goals. They use violence against anyone they see as an opponent.”

Cameroon’s Paul Biya re-elected for 8th term with over 53% of vote.

Cameroon’s President Paul Biya, 92, has been re-elected for an eighth term with 53.7 percent of the vote, according to official results announced by the Constitutional Council Monday.

Rival candidate and former government minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary came second with 35.2 percent, the council said. Chiroma had claimed victory against the incumbent two days after the October 12 election, and called for demonstrations.

Four people were killed on Sunday in clashes between security forces and supporters of the opposition in the economic capital Douala, according to the region’s governor.

Security forces initially used tear gas before firing “live ammunition,” according to protesters interviewed by AFP.

Since last week, supporters of Issa Tchiroma, who according to his own tally won 54.8 percent of the votes against 31.3 percent for Biya, have taken to the streets to defend his claimed victory.

Most analysts expected Biya, the world’s oldest serving head of state, to secure another seven-year term in a system that critics say has been increasingly rigged.

Biya is only the second head of state to lead Cameroon since independence from France in 1960.

He has ruled with an iron fist, repressing all political and armed opposition, and holding onto power through social upheaval, economic disparity and separatist violence.

Cameroon’s 92-year-old President Paul Biya has been declared the winner of the country’s disputed presidential election by the Constitutional Council.

At a parallel launch of the ACN report in the UK parliament, John Bakeni, Bishop of Maiduguri Diocese, agreed that the causes of violence are complex pointing to poverty, climate change, and land competition but noted that some attacks clearly carry a religious tone, targeting churches, priests, and Christian symbols “with impunity.”

Their remarks come amid rising global concern and claims of a Christian genocide in Nigeria an allegation the federal government continues to reject.

Following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Rome, Massad Boulos, Senior Adviser to former US President Donald Trump, also dismissed the genocide narrative, stressing that terrorists are killing more Muslims than Christians. He said the US would continue to support Nigeria in tackling insecurity.

23-YEAR-OLD UNIJOS STUDENT ARRESTED FOR KILLING, BURYING COLLEAGUE IN SHALLOW GRAVE IN HIS ROOM.

A 23-year-old student of the University of Jos, identified as David Nanpon Timmap, has been arrested for allegedly killing and burying his colleague, Peter Mata Mafurai, 22, in a shallow grave inside his room at Rusau village, Jos North Local Government Area.

Timmap, a 300-level student, reportedly attacked and hacked Mafurai to death in his residence. According to a security source, the incident came to light after operatives of the Plateau State Police Command, attached to the Laranto Division, received a distress call on Saturday morning.

“Following the distress call received at about 9:30 a.m., the Divisional Police Officer of Laranto Division led a team of officers to the scene, where the suspect was arrested,” a police source stated.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect buried the victim in a shallow grave he had dug inside his room. The remains of the deceased have since been exhumed and deposited at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police sources confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to determine the motive behind the gruesome act.

Authorities have assured the public that a full investigation is underway to ensure justice is served.

A security analyst, Bulama Bukarti, has said that merely rotating Nigeria’s service chiefs will not solve the country’s security challenges.

Yahaya Bello under fire over use of Kogi State letterhead in letter to army chief.

Former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has come under intense criticism after posting and later deleting a congratulatory letter to the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, written on the official Kogi State Government letterhead despite no longer being in office.

The letter, which bore the state coat of arms and Bello’s signature as “Executive Governor,” triggered widespread outrage after being shared on social media. Critics accused the former governor of clinging to power and blurring the boundary between personal identity and state authority.

In the letter, Bello congratulated the new Army Chief but included a contentious line that quickly drew attention, “It gives me renewed hope that my worthy successor, His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, will now have you in his corner as he continues to tackle insecurity in his domain.”

Court orders takeover of EndSARS Activist, FK Abudu’s Family Firm over N532 million Debt.

Justice Deinde Isaac Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Lagos has granted an interim order empowering Lotus Bank Limited to take possession of all assets belonging to Unpacked Limited (in receivership), a company owned by Oluwafeyikemi Abudu and guaranteed by Oluwafemi Badewole, over an alleged debt of ₦532,691,920.86.

The order followed an ex parte motion filed by the bank’s counsel, A. Adedoyin-Adetunji, seeking the court’s approval to recover the outstanding sum arising from an Ijara Muntaluya Bittamleek (lease-to-own) facility extended to the company.

Court Grants Takeover of Assets and Accounts
In the motion, marked FHC/L/CS/2097/2025, Lotus Bank prayed the court for leave to take over the company’s movable and immovable assets, as well as funds domiciled in several financial institutions across the country.

The bank also sought an order restraining over 25 banks and financial institutions—including GTBank, Access Bank, First Bank, UBA, Zenith Bank, and Fidelity Bank—from releasing or tampering with any funds linked to the defendants’ accounts or Bank Verification Numbers (BVNs).

The restraining order also extends to digital finance platforms such as Opay, Palmpay, Paystack, Piggyvest, and Momo Agent, pending the determination of the substantive suit.

Receiver Empowered to Take Possession
The court further authorised Patrick Mgbeoma, the receiver/manager appointed by Lotus Bank, to take possession of and realise all assets belonging to Unpacked Limited, including fixed and floating assets, equipment, and undertakings covered under the Deed of All Assets Debenture dated May 25, 2025, and the Deed of Appointment of Receiver dated October 6, 2025.

Justice Dipeolu also granted the bank’s request for police assistance, directing the Inspector-General of Police, senior officers, and the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, to provide security support to court bailiffs and the receiver during the takeover process.

According to the motion, the affected company operates from VPD Academy Building 4, Thorburn Avenue, Yaba, Lagos, where the bank alleged some of the assets under the loan agreement were located. The court’s order enables bailiffs and enforcement officers to gain access to the premises and secure all relevant assets.

Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor Collapses In Kuje Prison.

Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has collapsed while in custody at the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja.

This development is happening barely 24 hours after the presiding magistrate, Abubakar Umar Sai’id, allegedly refused to sign his bail bond for release.

Ejimakor was said to have slumped after complaining of weakness and difficulty standing.

Prison medical staff rushed to attend to him. His condition is believed to be getting worse, and authorities are considering transferring him to a hospital for urgent care.

Ejimakor is among 13 individuals arrested earlier in the week during the “#FreeNnamdiKanuNow” protest. Those arrested also include Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu.

They were reportedly tear-gassed, beaten, and taken into custody before being moved to the notorious SARS detention facility known as “Abattoir”.

On Tuesday, they were taken to the Kuje Magistrate Court without their legal team present. The magistrate ordered their remand, and despite granting bail the following day, he allegedly disappeared without endorsing the bail documents.

Human rights activists have since raised concerns over the treatment of the lawyer and others arrested, accusing security agencies of intimidation and abuse of power.

However, lawyers and supporters are demanding immediate medical attention and full respect for their legal rights.

Coup rumours: Agbakoba backs Tinubu on replacement of service chiefs.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Olisa Agbakoba, has backed President Bola Tinubu’s decision to replace the nation’s service chiefs, describing it as a wise and timely move, especially amid rumours of an alleged coup plot.

President Tinubu had on Friday announced major changes in the leadership of the armed forces as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security structure. The reshuffle included the appointment of a new Chief of Defence Staff and other top military officers.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Agbakoba said the president’s action showed firmness and decisiveness that were lacking in the previous administration.

“You have a president who is prepared to take tough decisions, and we know that he likes to take tough decisions,” Agbakoba said.

“I think he has done the right thing because his predecessor, the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, did not like to make such decisions and allowed his military team to stay far longer than they should have.”

Reports had linked the cancellation of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary events on October 1 to an alleged coup attempt. But the Defence Headquarters dismissed the claims, saying the cancellation had no connection to any plot.

The former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) said the timing of the president’s decision was appropriate and showed leadership at a critical moment.

“So, if it is indeed true that there was a rumoured coup, I think he (Tinubu) acted sensibly by doing exactly what he has done,” he said.

Madagascar Strips Ousted President Rajoelina of Citizenship.

Madagascar’s new government has revoked the citizenship of ousted President Andry Rajoelina, according to media reports, just 10 days after he was removed from power in a military takeover.

A decree published in the country’s official gazette on Friday stated that Rajoelina’s Malagasy nationality was withdrawn because he had acquired French citizenship in 2014.

The decision, confirmed by French broadcaster RFI through the entourage of the new Prime Minister, Herintsalama Rajaonarivelo, was made in accordance with laws stipulating that any Malagasy who voluntarily obtains another nationality automatically loses their own.

The decree effectively bars Rajoelina, who was impeached on October 14 after fleeing the country amid weeks of anti-government protests, from contesting future elections.

Rajoelina’s dual nationality first sparked controversy ahead of the November 2023 elections, nearly a decade after his French citizenship was revealed.

The revelation led to calls for his disqualification, but he ultimately won the disputed polls, which were boycotted by opposition parties.

The 51-year-old fled Madagascar after Colonel Michael Randrianirina, head of the CAPSAT army unit, announced on October 11 that his troops would not obey orders to suppress youth-led demonstrations that security forces had attempted to quell violently.

Rajoelina later said he went into hiding for his safety but did not disclose his location. Colonel Randrianirina was sworn in as president on October 14, promising to hold elections within two years.

Presidency Explains Sack of Defence Chief, Others, Says Move Is Routine.

The Presidency has clarified that the removal of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, and other service chiefs is a routine exercise aimed at strengthening national security.

Presidential spokesperson Sunday Dare stated this in an interview with DAILY POST on Friday, following President Bola Tinubu’s announcement of the new security appointments earlier in the day.

General Musa has been replaced by Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff. Other appointments include Major General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff. Major General E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

Dare explained that such changes are within the President’s constitutional powers as Commander-in-Chief.

“This is routine, meant to boost security across the nation. The Commander-in-Chief can at any time make these changes to both ministerial and service chiefs. In the same way, commanding officers of mechanized divisions can be moved or removed,” he said.

The reshuffle in the military hierarchy comes amid unverified rumours of a possible coup, which both the Presidency and the Nigerian Army have dismissed as false.

Gombe Commissioner Dies In Auto Crash.

The Gombe State Government has confirmed the death of the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd), in a car accident on Friday.

The incident occurred along the Malam Sidi–Gombe road as the retired officer was returning from Maiduguri, Borno State, where he had attended the North-East Regional Consultation on the Development of a National Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) programme.

According to a statement by the governor’s media aide, Isma’ila Uba Misilli, the commissioner’s police orderly, Sergeant Adamu Hussaini, also died in the crash, while his driver sustained injuries and is receiving treatment.

Reacting to the news, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya described the late commissioner as a disciplined officer and dedicated public servant who brought his military expertise to the service of Gombe State.

“Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd) will be remembered as a pillar of discipline, courage, and selfless service. He carried out his duties with unmatched diligence and a deep sense of responsibility. His demise is a monumental loss not only to his family and our government, but to Gombe State and Nigeria at large,” Yahaya stated.

The governor highlighted Bello’s role in shaping security policies and fostering collaboration among agencies, noting that his efforts strengthened community safety and reinforced Gombe’s reputation as one of the most peaceful states in the North-East.

Yahaya extended condolences to the families of the commissioner and the deceased police orderly, praying Almighty Allah to forgive their shortcomings and grant them Aljannat Firdaus.

“They died in active service to the state and the nation,” he said, while also wishing the injured driver a speedy recovery.

The state government said details of the commissioner’s funeral would be announced later.

Over 50 Generals To Go As Tinubu Sacks Service Chiefs.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday sacked the service chiefs and appointed their replacements.

The statement announcing their removal, signed by the special adviser to the president on media and public communication, Sunday Dare, said the action was taken in furtherance of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen the national security architecture.

The President appointed former Army Chief, General Olufemi Oluyede, as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.

The new Chief of Army Staff is Major-General W. Shaibu. Air Vice Marshal S. K. Aneke becomes Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral I. Abbas is the new Chief of Naval Staff.

President Tinubu expressed appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Musa, and the other service chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership.
The President urged the newly appointed service chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them and to further enhance the professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship that define the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
“All appointments take immediate effect,” the statement said.
Those sacked with General Musa are the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar.

“Their sacking is as a result of losing the loyalty of those working with them. When a commander loses the loyalty of his men, then there is no need for him to remain the commander,” a security officer told one of our correspondents.
