The footage was posted on Melaye’s official X account on November 13, 2025.

  • Wike Rebukes Buratai for Comment on Clash With Naval Officer.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike on Thursday criticised former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (rtd), accusing him of misinterpreting the altercation he had last Tuesday with naval officers led by Lt. A.M. Yerima.

Wike questioned Buratai’s claim that his conduct amounted to a national security threat and a slight on President Bola Tinubu.

Addressing reporters at his Life Camp residence, he faulted the former Army chief for asking him to apologise to Lt. Yerima, insisting Buratai had no authority to lecture him on proper behaviour.

He also blamed Yerima for escalating the confrontation over a disputed plot in the Gaduwa District, which the FCT Administration says was illegally acquired by former Naval Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo. Wike accused the officer of obeying an unlawful directive.

Wike said: “I read what one former Chief of Army Staff wrote. He cannot tell me of decency and he can’t teach me. This was the same man who (allegedly) directed his GOC to rig election, my election in 2019. He couldn’t rig me. He lost.

He told his GOC to kill me and I could not be killed. He became an agent in APC primaries to one of APC’s presidential aspirants. Look at the rank of a polling agent. He is the one commenting that the minister did this and that. I have never seen people like this.

I have no regrets for my political opponents. I will continue to make them have sleepless nights. Whether you are in PDP, whether you are in APC, whether you are in ADC, it is not my business.

I have no regrets supporting President Tinubu and I have never hidden my intention and I will continue to do what is right. So, if you like to write anything you want to write, as far as I know, I am standing by the side of the law. If you like, bring every ethnicity coloration, it is your business”.

He urged all officials, regardless of status, to respect the rule of law at all times.

  • APC was in White House in 2024 seeking help over Christian genocide – Adamu Garba backs Trump.

Former presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adamu Garba, has admitted that there is an ongoing genocide in the country.

The APC chieftain spoke in an interview on Trust TV, while reacting to the recent move by the US President, Donald Trump, who designated Nigeria as Country of Particular Concerns over persecution of Christians.

Countering those antagonizing President Trump’s decision to take out the perpetrators of the alleged massacre, Adamu recalled that the APC as an opposition party in 2024, sought help from the US military over the same killing of Christians.

He argued that the United Nations had empowered the US to help in fighting terrorism worldwide.

He said, “When you look at the damage, the total number of the people that have been killed over time in Nigeria, they are killed defenseless in villages and even in their homes, what can you call it? it? It’s nothing, but pure genocide.

“In 2014, the opposition party then, the APC were in the White House seeking for the same help on the same Christian genocide at the fall out of the Chibok girls.

“It was a United Nations convention on counter-terrorism that empowered the United States to become the global vocal point in fighting against terrorism, so wherever a word terrorism is defined, the US has the right to protect. They call it responsibility to protect. They call it Responsibility to Protect, R to P”.

  • Asari Dokubo Warns Trump: ‘Nigeria Will Be the Graveyard of Any US Invasion’.

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has issued a stern warning to United States President Donald Trump, cautioning him against making good on his alleged threat to launch a military incursion into Nigeria over claims of widespread Christian persecution.

In a viral video shared via Facebook, the ex-leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force (NDPVF) vowed that any American troops sent to Nigeria would meet fierce resistance. According to him, Nigeria would become “the graveyard” of Trump and any invading US forces.

“Let Trump come with his America, they will all die,” Asari declared passionately. “This lunatic wants to annex Canada, wants Iceland, wants to kill the president of Venezuela and the Supreme Leader of Iran. America is a sick country that elects madmen as leaders.”

The former warlord accused Trump of hypocrisy, saying the US ignored several humanitarian crises around the world while choosing to target Nigeria. “He can’t see the genocide in Congo, Gaza, or Sudan, but he’s talking about genocide against Christians in Nigeria,” he said. “If you come here, you’ll die here Nigeria will be your graveyard.”

Asari, who described himself as a Muslim raised among non-Muslims, also dismissed the idea that the killings in Nigeria are purely religious, insisting that both Muslims and Christians are victims of the ongoing violence.

He concluded by warning that unlike others who merely talk, he and his allies are ready to act if Nigeria’s sovereignty is threatened.

“And that is why when they talk of America, I say it’s a sick country, a country of mad people, insane people and that is why they can elect a lunatic as their president.

  • Lagos communities groan over collapsed roads, perennial flooding.

For a couple of years, residents of some parts of Lagos State have been living in pain and fear.

This is attributable to the sorry-state of the roads across some communities, a development that has also led to the blockage of drainage systems in such environments and consequent flooding, which has rendered scores homeless.

Of particular interest is the Oyadiran Estate in the Sabo axis of Yaba, Lagos, where residents live in constant fear and frustration as the once-serene neighbourhood has become a nightmare of broken roads, blocked drainages and knee-deep floods whenever it rains.

What used to be a smooth drive through the estate has turned into a stretch of gullies and craters. Deep potholes have eaten deep into the asphalt, leaving gaping holes filled with muddy water. Vehicles now struggle to navigate the dilapidated stretch, while pedestrians tread carefully on the narrow edges of the damaged road to avoid slipping into stagnant pools.

On rainy days, the situation worsens. The drainage channels, many of them clogged with plastic waste and silt overflow easily, sending torrents of water cascading into homes and shops. Residents recount how, within minutes of a heavy downpour, their streets turn into a river, with water gushing through compounds and submerging ground-floor apartments. Motorists lament the danger they face while navigating the bad road on a daily basis.

Describing what residents face on a daily basis, Kunle Adebayo described the experience as tortuous. “It is a moment of agony passing through the road every day. I have been repairing my car almost every day because of this bad road.

“Nobody is ready to fix it. The local government has made countless promises but none has produced any positive result. They would come, make promises and go and we would never see them again.”

“However, during the election, the politicians would come with their promises. They would promise heaven and earth, even to build bridges where there is no river, but at the end of the day, when they get to office, they would not remember any of those promises. We haven’t seen anything, they are all failed promises,” he told DAILY POST.

  • Male Presidents Have Failed Us!” – Aisha Yesufu Declares It’s Time for a Woman to Lead Nigeria.

Human rights activist and Co-founder of the #BringBackOurGirls movement, Aisha Yesufu, has said that men have failed in leading Nigeria and that it is time for a woman to take charge.

Speaking boldly at the Girls Summit held in Umuahia, Abia State, Yesufu declared, “Male Presidents have failed us!” and insisted that women must no longer be sidelined from positions of power, especially the presidency.

She challenged the stereotypes and cultural barriers that continue to hold women back, saying it was unfair that female aspirants are often ridiculed while men, no matter how incompetent, are accepted as leaders.

“No matter how bad a man is, nobody says he can’t be President but the moment a woman is running, she will be told a woman can’t be President,” she said.

The outspoken activist urged the government and society to dismantle all forms of discrimination that stop women from realizing their potential.

She also called for stronger protection of widows and for harmful cultural practices against them to be abolished.

Her speech received loud applause from participants who agreed with her call for equality and inclusion.

Yesufu also praised the Founder of Protect the Precious Foundation, Norah Okafor, for creating platforms that empower young girls and give them a voice.

  • October 7 Massacre a ‘Mistake That Cost Iran Dearly,’ - Iran Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei Says.

In a stunning reversal of rhetoric, an Iranian newspaper closely aligned with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has described Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel as a “grave mistake” that inflicted serious damage on Iran’s regional influence. According to a report by The Jerusalem Post on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, the statement marks one of the first public acknowledgments within Iran’s ruling establishment that the Gaza war has weakened, rather than strengthened, Tehran’s strategic position in the Middle East.

In an editorial published this week, the Islamic Republic newspaper overseen by a representative of Khamenei sharply departed from the regime’s long-standing narrative that celebrated the attack as a victory for the so-called “Axis of Resistance.” “Contrary to many opinions and analyses, the ‘Al-Aqsa Flood’ operation was a mistake,” the paper wrote, referring to Hamas’s coordinated assault that killed and kidnapped thousands inside Israel on October 7, 2023.

The editorial went on to argue that the consequences of the attack have been overwhelmingly negative for Iran and its network of allied militias and governments across the region. It specifically cited Syria’s apparent distancing from Tehran as one of the most damaging developments to result from the conflict. “Syria’s departure from the Axis of Resistance and its shift toward alignment with the United States and Israel is one of the most damaging developments of the past two years,” the paper stated, calling it a “direct outcome” of Hamas’s offensive.

The tone of the piece stands in sharp contrast to previous statements by Iranian officials, including Khamenei himself, who had hailed the October 7 assault as a “historic victory” and a “turning point in the struggle against Israel.” Iranian state media and military commanders had also praised Hamas for “changing the balance of power” in the region.

  • Sacrifice Your Ambition For Nigeria, Give Peter Obi A Chance LP Tells Atiku.

The interim National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Tony Akeni has dismissed claims that former presidential candidate, Peter Obi would resign for any political coalition or rival aspirant.

Speaking to Punch, Akeni stated that such a move would dash the hope of millions of Nigerians seeking change.

He asserted that withdrawing Obi from the race “is to take away 90 per cent of the hope of Nigerians for redemption and a new beginning.”

He subsequently appealed to former vice president Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the race and sacrifice his ambition for Nigeria.

He said, “Forcing Peter Obi to withdraw from the race is to take away 90 per cent of the hope of Nigerians for redemption and a new beginning.

“So, I see a situation where we will all come together, stakeholders, and take the right decision at the right time. And that right time is still a little bit far away; it will be close to the primaries.

  • Experts, residents alarmed as flooding worsens along Lekki-Ajah corridor.

Some residents and environmental experts have raised alarm over persistent flooding along the Lekki–Ajah corridor in Lagos, blaming land reclamation, ocean surge, and unregulated development.

In separate interviews, residents recounted distressing experiences of flash floods disrupting life, damaging property, and causing panic in coastal communities.

    Flooded highway in Lekki, Lagos
Mr. Mike Umukoro, a Lekki resident, said rainfall now triggers fear among residents because of the intensity and duration of flash floods.

“Each time it rains, anxiety grips everyone. The roads become impassable, vehicles get trapped, and homes are threatened,” he said.

Similarly, Mrs. Ese Edema, a Lekki Phase 1 resident, described the panic caused by recent heavy rainfall.

“During the last downpour, I couldn’t reach my son’s school. Some parents accessed theirs only around midnight when the flood subsided,” she said.

She added that traffic gridlock from the flood extended to Victoria Island.

Flooded highway in Lekki, Lagos Mr. • US to deport hundreds of Iranians after deal with Tehran.

The United States is planning to deport some 400 Iranians, most of whom entered the country illegally, as part of US President Donald Trump’s broader crackdown on immigration.

“In the first step, they decided to deport 120 Iranians who entered the US illegally, most of whom through Mexico,” the Iranian foreign ministry’s director general for parliament affairs, senior Iranian official Hossein Noushabadi, told the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

The deportation, an uncommon instance of cooperation between the two countries, came after months of talks, according to the New York Times, which first reported the move.

Noushabadi said the US was “planning to deport around 400 Iranians, most of whom entered the country illegally, in line with the new anti-immigrant approach of the US government.”

The first group of 120 would reach Iran in the next one or two days, he said.

The New York Times reported that a US-chartered flight took off from Louisiana on Monday and was scheduled to arrive in Iran via Qatar sometime on Tuesday.

Some of the Iranians had volunteered to leave after being in detention centers for months, and some had not, the newspaper said.

Noushabadi called on Washington to respect the rights of Iranian migrants in the United States.

  • Osun Monarchs Appeal to Adeleke Over Alleged Plot to Reverse Their Elevation

Two newly elevated traditional rulers in Osun State have raised concerns over a purported attempt by officials of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters to revoke their appointments.

The monarchs—Olokeolooru Obalufon of Okeolooru Obalufon, Oba Adebisi Mukaila Michael, and Onirante of Irante, Oba Ogundele Olasunkanmi Mathew—were elevated to Part II Obas by Governor Ademola Adeleke during the state executive council meeting on Friday, September 12, 2025, according to a letter from their counsel, Sulaiman Akano.

Before their elevation, the two monarchs served as community chiefs (Baale) under the Akinfin Traditional Council in Boluwaduro Local Government. Reports indicate that each monarch paid N500,000 to cover the presentation of their staff of office and instrument of appointment.

However, a few days after receiving their appointment letters and staff of office, the monarchs were allegedly informed of a plan by some ministry officials to reverse their elevation.

In a letter dated September 23, addressed to the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, their counsel urged Governor Adeleke to intervene and prevent any attempt to annul the appointments.

    The letter stated in part:

“After our clients were duly screened and cleared by both the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, approved their elevation to Part II (Recognised Status) under the Chief’s Law (Cap. 25) Laws of Osun State 2002 during the EXCO meeting held on September 12, 2025.
Our clients received appointment letters on September 15 and were presented with their staff of office on September 16. The elevation was gazetted in the Osun State of Nigeria Gazette on September 18, 2025.”

The letter further alleged that the Oluresi of Iresi is conspiring with some ministry officials to reverse the appointments. The counsel warned that such a move could spark unrest between the affected communities.

“The appointment and elevation of our clients were well received by their communities. Any attempt to reverse the appointments could trigger communal tension. We appeal to your office to caution and restrain the Oluresi of Iresi and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs from taking such action,” the letter added.

The counsel emphasized that the monarchs are prepared to take legal action against anyone involved in the alleged conspiracy if the matter is not addressed.

Attempts to reach Barr. Dosu Babatunde, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

  • Okikiola Layi-Balogun Denies Housebreaking Allegations, Says Tenant’s Claims Are False

Mr. Okikiola Layi-Balogun, son of the late presidential aspirant under the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), Architect Olayiwola Osuolale Balogun, has dismissed allegations of housebreaking and theft leveled against him by his former tenant, Mr. Adekunle Taiwo.

Speaking on Monday, September 29, 2025, Layi-Balogun described the allegations as false, malicious, and intended to damage his reputation.

The matter, which is before Magistrate R.A. Richard at the Iyaganku Magistrate Court in Ibadan, concerns a property located at Old Bodija, a house built by his late father and where he was raised. He explained that Taiwo, who had occupied the boy’s quarters of the property since 2015, had a history of disputes with neighbors and never fully recognized him as landlord.

According to Layi-Balogun, Taiwo’s claims are an attempt to compel an out-of-court settlement and extort millions of naira. He said the case has placed him under years of unnecessary pressure, affected his family’s name, and cost him job opportunities as the allegations lingered.

“This matter has left a permanent scar on my life,” he said. “I grew up in that house; it is my family home. I am innocent of all the accusations, and all I seek is justice and the restoration of my good name.”

He expressed gratitude for finally having the opportunity to present his side of the story, insisting that the accusations were baseless and unfairly designed to malign him.

  • Udom Emmanuel Clears Air on Rumoured Makinde 2027 Presidential Ambition

Former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has dismissed claims that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is nursing a 2027 presidential ambition.

Speaking with journalists at an event in Abuja, Emmanuel said he has never been informed by Makinde—whom he described as a close friend and colleague in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—about any such plans.

“Governor Makinde is my friend, a former colleague and one of the strong leaders of the PDP, to which I belong. I can say on my honour that Seyi has never told me he is running for President. If we are as close as we are and he hasn’t told me, then I suspect that people are just using that narrative as a tool of blackmail—either to weaken his role in rebuilding our party or to cause friction between him and the President,” Emmanuel said.

He further noted that while it is normal for any aspirant to consult stakeholders before declaring an ambition, no such discussion had been brought to his attention.

Emmanuel stressed that Makinde remains a loyal party man dedicated to the revival of the PDP, and that abandoning the platform would be “morally wrong.” He emphasized the need for political tolerance in Nigeria’s democracy, saying that both ruling and opposition parties must co-exist to strengthen governance.

Addressing his own low political profile since leaving office in 2023, Emmanuel explained:

“I had promised at the twilight of my administration that when I leave office, I will leave the stage for my successor and retreat to my private life and engagements, and that is exactly what I have done. That doesn’t mean I have retired from politics. I still share ideas with leaders across different levels. There is time for everything—time for politics and time for private life—and I’m abiding by that principle.”

His remarks come amid speculation about alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

  • 2023 PDP Presidential Aspirant Sam Ohuabunwa Speaks on EFCC’s Arrest of Aminu Tambuwal

Former presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sam Ohuabunwa, has weighed in on the recent arrest of ex-Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In an interview with The Punch, Ohuabunwa described the arrest as one that appeared politically motivated, echoing concerns raised by several observers and political groups.

According to him, the use of security and intelligence agencies against political opponents has become a recurring tactic in Nigeria’s political landscape.

“Tambuwal has been there before now; nobody invited him. He was Speaker of the House of Representatives, he was Governor, and he was in the Senate—nobody invited him. Inviting him at this time creates suspicion that it’s politically motivated. It may not be, but we can always draw our own conclusions,” he said.

Ohuabunwa likened the situation to an old saying: “When the witch cried last night and the child died the following morning, everyone knew the witch killed the child.” He explained that while agencies must carry out their duties, the timing and manner of such actions often lead the public to believe there are ulterior motives.

The PDP stalwart emphasized that Nigerians naturally process information through lived experiences, which is why many share the view that Tambuwal’s arrest might have political undertones.
