• Retired General Reveals Covert Nigerian Operation That Led to Boko Haram Leader Shekau’s Death

Retired Major General Danjuma Ali-Keffi has disclosed how a covert Nigerian military intelligence unit, Operation Service Wide (OSW), weakened Boko Haram and engineered the events leading to Abubakar Shekau’s death. He credited the late Brig. Gen. Abdulrahman Kuliya, former Chief of Military Intelligence, for infiltrating terror networks and sparking the ISWAP–Boko Haram conflict that ended Shekau’s reign. Ali-Keffi detailed how political interference, intelligence leaks, halted operations, and the deaths of top officers—including Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru—nearly sabotaged the mission. He further alleged internal sabotage, plots against him, and complicity of powerful officials in rising banditry driven by illegal mining interests. His revelations shed light on high-stakes power struggles, covert operations, and deep-rooted security challenges in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.

  • TROOPS STORM TERROR HIDEOUTS, RESCUE 12 KIDNAP VICTIMS IN DARING PRE-DAWN OPERATION

In a remarkable display of courage and compassion, troops of Operation HADIN KAI have brought hope back to 12 families after rescuing seven women and five children from Boko Haram captivity in the unforgiving terrain of the Mandara Mountains.

The victims, who were on transit were abducted on 14 November along the Gwoza Limankara road. They regained their freedom on Sunday following a daring clearance mission conducted under Operation DESERT SANITY IV and Diligent Search.

Led by the vigilant 26 Task Force Brigade, with support from Hybrid Forces, Hunters and vigilantes, the troops launched a pre-dawn assault through the rugged mountain foothills toward Uvaha. The sheer intensity of troop firepower forced the terrorists to abandon their captives and flee.

Amid the chaos, the terrified victims scattered into the surrounding bushes, disoriented and exhausted from days in captivity. At about 8:45 a.m., they were safely recovered by troops who had continued searching the area to ensure no one was left behind.

Among those rescued are Fadi Musa, Jummai Manga, Hamsatu Musa, Jummai Ali, Inna Amadu, Falmata Musa, Hadiza Hamman, and five children. Many were visibly tired after trekking long distances when their abductors fled under fire. The troops immediately evacuated them to the brigade field ambulance, where they received urgent medical care for blisters, injuries, and the effects of beatings endured in captivity. After treatment and meals, they were formally handed over to the representative of the Chairman, Gwoza Local Government Area, for reunification with their families.

The military high command has praised the bravery, speed, and professionalism of the troops, acknowledging the vital contributions of security stakeholders and local informants whose timely intelligence made the rescue possible. Troops remain in active pursuit of ISWAP remnants across southern Borno to prevent further atrocities and ensure the safety of all civilians.

In a decisive nationwide offensive, the Nigerian Army delivered major blows to criminal networks between 29 November and 1 December 2025, neutralizing eight terrorists, arresting 51 suspects, rescuing 27 victims and seizing a substantial cache of weapons and illicit items across several operations.

In the North East, troops of 151 Task Force Battalion, 152 Task Force Battalion and 192 Battalion in Borno State neutralized four ISWAP/JAS terrorists in ambush and clearance operations, recovering three AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 magazines containing 70 rounds of 7.62mm, 31 rounds of 12.7mm, 171 rounds of 7.62x54mm linked, 183 rounds of 7.62x51mm NATO, an AK-47 working part and a Baofeng radio. Troops also rescued no victims in these operations but responded effectively to infiltration attempts around Chibok.

In Plateau, Taraba, Benue, Kogi and Kaduna States, troops under Operation WHIRL STROKE and Operation ENDURING PEACE rescued 3 victims in Panyam, 1 in Zaki-Biam, 6 adult females and 1 minor (7 total) in Tsanyawa/Kankia, 4 victims in Yagba West, 1 victim in Odo Eri, 2 victims in Sanga LGA and 2 adult females in Isoko North, bringing the total rescued in the North Central and North West theatres to 20 victims. In these operations, troops arrested 2 suspected kidnappers in Panyam, 4 human traffickers in Sardauna, 3 extremist collaborators in Ukum, 13 illegal miners in Lau, 2 cultists in Delta and 1 gunrunner in Plateau. Combined with 25 drug suspects arrested in Bayelsa and Rivers, troops arrested a total of 51 suspects across the regions.

In Taraba, troops also neutralized 4 violent extremists and recovered one fabricated AK-47 rifle, three Dane guns, 25 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and two motorcycles during a communal-clash response in Karim Lamido. Troops in Delta State recovered one locally made pistol, two cartridges and five mobile phones while arresting two suspected cultists. Security forces further recovered 76 rustled cattle in Plateau State and handed them back to their rightful owners.

In the South-South, anti-oil theft operations led to the shutdown of an illegal refining site with about 1,000 litres of stolen crude, while joint raids with NDLEA led to the arrest of 25 drug-related suspects. Meanwhile, in Kaduna State, troops intercepted vehicles transporting 5,000kg of gelatine explosives, 3,000m of cordtex fuse, 10 electric detonators and 1,000m of connecting wire, prompting ongoing investigations involving other security agencies.

Additionally, troops arrested notorious gunrunner Shuaibu Isah (aka Alhaji) who was attempting to receive 1,000 rounds of ammunition from accomplices still being trailed. His arrest marked one of the most significant breakthroughs of the period.

The Nigerian Army reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding all Nigerians and ensuring that terrorists, criminals and their collaborators have no safe haven.

  • Jubilation as Troops Chase Boko Haram Out of Borno State, Restore Calm in Magumeri

Troops of the North East Joint Task Force ‘Operation Hadin Kai’ (OPHK) successfully drove Boko Haram insurgents out of a community in Magumeri Local Government Area, Borno State, following an att+ck that left homes and vehicles d%stroyed.

The t+rrorists launched a surprise a§§ault on the town late Saturday night, setting f+re to residential buildings and vehicles—including one belonging to a Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) member. Despite the d+struction, no lives were lost. Executive Chairman of Magumeri, Hon. Abubakar Abdulkadir Yaro, confirmed that the att+ckers fled around 3 a.m. on Sunday after being overwhelmed by the rapid response from troops and allied Civilian JTF, Hunters, and Volunteers.

“Our gallant troops and community defenders responded swiftly to distress calls and successfully repelled the t+rrorists,” Yaro said. He praised the security forces for their well-coordinated efforts and said that normalcy is gradually returning to the area. Boko Haram and ISWAP militants have recently intensified att+cks on military and civilian targets across Borno State.

In recent weeks, the military s¥ffered the loss of two commanding officers during clearance operations in Bama and Damboa Local Government Areas. Amid weeklong visits from the Army and Air Force Chiefs to the region, new coordinated strategies have been adopted to strengthen efforts to clear insurgents from the area. Troops assured the top military brass of their dedication to protecting lives and property in the Northeast, while the military leadership pledged to enhance the welfare of frontline personnel.

  • I saw this post on Facebook is this true ?

90% of ISWAP terrorising Kogi and Ondo are Ebira by Tribe - Sheikh Gumi, the Terrorist Advocate.

I don't have the data but, Gumi may not be far from the truth. Beside, he knows them all.

One Obadaki was recently recaptured by DSS following his earlier jail break. He allegedly mastermind the deeper life church bloodshed in 2012. I remembered that night too well.

The Terrorist group that attacked Apostle Suleiman and his convoy killing policemen in the process were Ebiras too. What about the Owo church massacre? I remembered the late Ondo state Governor raising this accusations few years ago prior to his death.

If you grew up in Ebiraland, you will have no doubts on that fact, religious extremism runs through some of our people's vein. It is not hidden. Between ourselves alone, we laid waste of our land for years.

One of my friend told me years ago he has his sword ready and that if religious crisis happen, he will look for me. That's the last time I ever visited him. This guy was previously a core traditionalist, I was so surprised on his transfiguration after his conversion. I remembered the time of Baba and Mustapha too in Okene. Let me stop here

  • FG says Trump’s Remarks Embolden Violent Groups in Nigeria.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has warned that recent comments by former U.S. President Donald Trump have unintentionally encouraged violent groups in Nigeria. Speaking in a press release on Wednesday, Akume said some extremists are now exploiting international narratives to justify attacks on soft targets.

He noted that prior to these statements, insurgency networks in the country had been largely weakened and reduced to isolated banditry. Akume stressed that the remarks have given opportunistic groups a platform to gain visibility, underscoring the need for collaboration rather than public labeling between Nigeria and the United States.

Akume reaffirmed that Nigeria does not require foreign troops, highlighting the Nigerian Armed Forces’ successes in reclaiming territories and degrading Boko Haram and ISWAP leadership. He emphasized that targeted support particularly in intelligence, technology, and equipment would be more effective than direct foreign intervention.

The SGF also rejected claims that the conflict represents a “Christian genocide,” noting that both Muslims and Christians have been victims of attacks on churches and mosques. He reiterated that Nigeria is a secular state and that government appointments reflect the country’s diversity, with Christians and Muslims equally represented in key positions, including the Federal Executive Council and the Nigerian Security Council.

Akume concluded that while Nigeria remains open to international cooperation, the focus should be on dismantling extremist networks with appropriate support rather than imposing external labels or interventions.

  • U.S. Congressman Riley M. Moore met in Washington, D.C., with Nigeria’s National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and other top security and government officials to discuss terrorist killings and the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria. The Nigerian delegation included the NSA, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Ojukwu, the Inspector General of Police, the Attorney General of the Federation, the Chief of Defence Staff, and senior intelligence officials.

The meeting focused on rising violence, terrorist threats, and attacks by Boko Haram, ISWAP, and armed groups in the Northeast and Middle Belt. Nigerian officials outlined the country’s security challenges and the need for stronger counterterrorism support.

Congressman Moore said the United States is ready to deepen cooperation but stressed that Nigeria must take “tangible steps” to protect Christian communities. He echoed former President Donald Trump’s warning that the U.S. will not tolerate continued religious persecution, stating that “President Trump does not make idle threats.”

The discussion comes as the U.S. House Appropriations Committee prepares to submit a report to the White House describing the situation as “genocide against Christians in Nigeria.” Trump recently redesignated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” and hinted at possible U.S. military action if the killings continue.

Moore also criticised the Nigerian government for failing to justify the significant U.S. military support it has received, saying global silence on the killings is unacceptable.

  • Sowore Slams Tinubu Police IG Over Silence as 25 Schoolgirls Are Abducted and Brigadier General kill.

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has sharply criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of Nigeria’s security agencies following the abduction of twenty-five schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the execution of a Brigadier General by Boko Haram/ISWAP. In a strongly worded message shared on his verified Facebook page, Sowore condemned what he described as the government’s disturbing silence in the face of national tragedy.

Sowore noted that despite the kidnapping of the schoolgirls, President Tinubu’s public statement of the day focused instead on offering a casual greeting to a “seasoned banker.” He also accused the Inspector General of Police of failing to make any comment, calling the IGP incompetent, illegally appointed, and long overdue for dismissal, especially after what he described as a disastrous handling of the Yelwata massacre in Benue.

The activist further expressed outrage that even after a senior military officer was executed, the President has still not addressed the nation. He argued that the absence of reassurance, outrage, or leadership reflects a government disconnected from its citizens.

According to Sowore, a country where schoolgirls are abducted and officers are murdered while leaders remain silent is a failed state.

  • ISWAP Confirms Killing of Missing Damboa Brigade Commander After Failed Rescue Attempts.

General Uba, the Brigade Commander of Damboa, has been confirmed killed by ISWAP terrorists, hours after he was declared missing during operations in the forest.

Military sources revealed that the commander had earlier sent a video message indicating he was safe.

According to them, the clip—where he appeared calm and unharmed—was recorded before his condition deteriorated.

According to DailyPost, sources said the officer later became disoriented while navigating the forest, prompting urgent rescue efforts by ground troops and air assets. At one point, he informed colleagues that he was already heading back to base, raising hopes that he would be recovered alive.

However, after reports of his disappearance went viral, ISWAP reportedly re-captured him. His death was confirmed shortly afterward.

The Army had earlier stated that the commander had safely returned to base, a claim now contradicted by emerging details.

His death has intensified scrutiny over the military’s handling of frontline personnel and the accuracy of official communication regarding troop welfare.

  • Fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) reportedly ambushed a Nigerian military convoy in Borno State on Friday night, abducting a serving general and killing several soldiers, including members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), according to HumAngle.

The abducted general is said to be a brigade commander who was leading the troops at the time of the attack.

If confirmed, HumAngle — a platform focused on conflict and humanitarian crises — notes that this would be the first recorded instance of an extremist group in Nigeria capturing a serving general directly from the frontline.

While insurgents have previously killed high-ranking military officers, reports of their abducting are extremely rare.

Military authorities have yet to release an official statement, and the exact casualty figures remain unknown.

The spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Lt. Col. Onyechi Anele, has also not responded to inquiries about the incident.

  • Troops rescue 74 NYSC members from kidnappers hotspot in Borno.

In a dramatic late-night operation, troops of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation Hadin Kai, rescued 74 stranded National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from what could have been a major abduction by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists along the Buratai–Kamuya Road in Borno State.

According to the Force’s Media Information Officer, Sani Uba, the incident occurred around 9:05 p.m. on Tuesday after the corps members 36 males and 38 females were left stranded when their 3 buses broke down near a notorious kidnapping hotspot.

Uba revealed that troops swiftly moved in after a military surveillance system picked up suspicious movement involving the vehicles.

“On arrival, troops discovered the stranded NYSC members and quickly moved to secure them from a likely Boko Haram or ISWAP attack,” he stated.

The rescued corps members are currently being sheltered at the Buratai military base while arrangements for their safe evacuation are underway.

This latest intervention follows a string of successful counterterrorism operations in Borno, where troops recently rescued 86 kidnapped victims and arrested 29 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers.

Earlier this week, the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector 2 OPHK intercepted Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters at Dutse Kura, destroying 11 terrorist structures and recovering a cache of weapons, vehicles, and motorcycles.

Security officials have hailed the swift response as a major success in ongoing efforts to protect civilians and dismantle terrorist strongholds in the North East.

  • NAF Crushes ISWAP Fighters, Destroys Bandit Camps Across Borno, Kwara, Katsina, Zamfara and Kaduna.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its nationwide counterterrorism and anti-banditry campaign, carrying out a series of precision airstrikes that eliminated ISWAP fighters and dismantled multiple criminal hideouts across the northern region.

According to a statement released by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the coordinated strikes targeted ISWAP strongholds in Mallam Fatori and Shuwaram in Borno State, as well as bandit enclaves in Garin Dandi and Chigogo in Kwara State, and Zango Hill in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. Additional operations were also conducted in parts of Zamfara and Kaduna States.

Ejodame noted that the missions mark a significant phase in ongoing joint operations under Operation HADIN KAI and Operation FANSAN YAMMA, designed to degrade terrorist and criminal networks operating across Nigeria’s northern corridors.

He added that the success of these precision-led offensives reflects the renewed operational tempo of the Air Force, in line with directives issued by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke.

Each strike, he said, reinforces NAF’s commitment to deploying intelligence-driven, smarter airpower to deliver decisive blows against insurgents and bandits, while safeguarding citizens and strengthening national security.

  • NAF Bombs Several ISWAP Terrorists, Bandits To Death In Multiple Airstrikes.

Air strikes carried out by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have resulted in the killing of several terrorists and bandits across the country and the destruction of their hideouts.

According to a statement on Monday by the NAF Spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, scores of Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Mallam Fatori and Shuwaram, Borno State, as well as bandits’ enclaves in Garin Dandi and Chigogo, Kwara State, as well as Zango Hill in Kankara local government area of Katsina State, were affected by the strikes.

He added that the coordinated missions were carried out on November 9, 2025, based on credible intelligence on the movement and activities of the criminals.

Ejodame said the missions represent a decisive phase in ongoing joint operations under Operation Hadin Kai and Operation Fansan Yamma, aimed at degrading terrorists and criminal networks across Nigeria’s northern theatres.

News reports that the NAF airstrikes dealt a heavy blow to ISWAP terrorists entrenched in the Northern Tumbuns of Borno State.

According to the NAF spokesman, the Air Component guided by real-time Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) feeds conducted precision strikes southeast of Shuwaram before shifting to Mallam Fatori, where ISWAP elements were observed mobilising with motorcycles and boats along the Lake Chad Basin.

According to him, the strikes destroyed the insurgent hideouts, logistics hubs, and weapons storage facilities, eliminating several terrorists and crippling their mobility capabilities.

“Post-strike assessments confirmed multiple neutralizations and a significant degradation of ISWAP’s operational networks in the area,” he said.

Similarly, NAF aircraft carried out precision air interdiction missions over Garin Dandi and Chigogo in Kwara State, striking bandits,’ camps with devastating accuracy based on credible intelligence.

He said the attacks caused panic in the enemy camp and inflicted heavy losses among the criminals.

In a related operation, air assets under Operation Fansan Yamma struck Zango Hill in Kankara LGA, Katsina State, the hideout of a terrorist kingpin and his fighters.

Ejodame said the aircraft guided by actionable intelligence and ISR surveillance, executed multiple attack passes, destroying key logistics hubs and neutralizing several terrorists in one of the most decisive strikes in the region.

Furthermore, the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma (Sector 1) conducted an Armed Reconnaissance mission across the northwest corridor, covering key settlements in Zamfara, Kebbi, and Kaduna States, including Kakihum, Dankolo, Kotonkoro, and Kuyello.

Ejodame said the locations served as known routes and hideouts for armed groups along the Birnin Gwari–Funtua axis.

“During the mission, coordination with Forward Operating Bases at Dankolo and Kotonkoro revealed suspicious movement near Wam Hill, where terrorists on motorcycles were spotted attempting to flee. The aircrew swiftly engaged and neutralized the targets, with no further hostile activity observed,” he said.

  • Troops Rescue 86 Kidnap Victims, Destroy Boko Haram Camp in Borno.

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have rescued 86 kidnapped victims and destroyed a major Boko Haram/ISWAP camp in the Buratai–Kamuya area of Borno State.

The operation was carried out on Sunday by the 135 Special Forces Battalion following surveillance alerts of terrorists abducting civilians along the route.

According to a statement by Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, the troops at Echo 1 in Dutse Kura came under heavy attack around 3:52 pm.
A Quick Response Force was deployed to reinforce them, successfully repelling the terrorists and pursuing them toward the Mangari axis.

During the pursuit, the insurgents attempted to flee with kidnapped civilians in two vehicles, but troops ambushed them, forcing the terrorists to abandon the victims.

A subsequent search led to the discovery of a Boko Haram/ISWAP camp, where 86 captives — men, women and children — were rescued unharmed.

Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle, five magazines loaded with 73 rounds, PKT ammunition belts, five civilian cars, five motorcycles, eight bicycles and two tricycles. The camp was destroyed.

In a separate operation the same day, troops at Delta 1 in Mangada arrested 29 suspected Boko Haram logistics suppliers. Eight of them were identified as active couriers.

Seized items included two pickup vans and a tricycle loaded with Premium Motor Spirit, 38 jerry cans of fuel, engine oil, medical supplies, food items and two new gun-truck tyres.

The suspects and recovered items have been handed over for further investigation. Military sources say the latest operations are part of intensified efforts to cut off terrorists supply chains and limit their movement in the North-East.

  • Nigerian Army repel assault by Boko Haram and ISWAP, take out six terrorists.

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have repelled a coordinated attack by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on their base in Mallam Fatori, Borno State.

According to Lt-Col Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for OPHK, the terrorists launched the assault around 4:30 a.m., targeting the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kangar with drones and mortar fire. Reinforced by the Main Force from Sector 3, the soldiers fought back with support from Nigerien fighter jets, forcing the insurgents to flee into the Tumbun waterways with their dead and wounded.

Troops recovered six bodies of terrrorists, five AK-47 rifles, eight magazines, over 250 rounds of ammunition, rocket-propelled grenades, drone bombs, hand grenades, and an Android phone. Additional airstrikes by Nigerian and Nigerien air forces reportedly neutralized more fleeing fighters.

Some soldiers and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members sustained minor injuries but were evacuated for treatment and are in stable condition. The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) praised the troops’ bravery and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the North-East.

Meanwhile, the trial of two top Ansaru leaders, Mahmud Usman (aka Abu Bara’a) and Abubakar Abba (aka Isah Adam), will continue on November 19, 2025, before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

The duo arrested in July during a DSS-led counter-terrorism operation are accused of coordinating terrorist cells across Nigeria and funding jihadist activities through kidnapping and illegal mining. Usman, who pleaded guilty to one count of illegal mining, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, while Abba pleaded not guilty to all 32 terrorism-related charges.
