“Soludo Will Soon Join APC”, Orji Kalu Declares, Hints at Major Political Realignment in South East
According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC, Abia North) has disclosed that Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, is expected to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) soon.
Speaking with journalists at the National Assembly, Kalu revealed that there have been ongoing interactions between the APC and Governor Soludo as part of strategic political discussions in the South East.
The former Abia governor noted that Soludo shares similar political and developmental ideologies with leading figures in the APC, adding that his policies and governance style in Anambra align closely with the federal government’s reform agenda.
“Soludo is a progressive. He will come to APC. In fact, it is confirmed that he will join APC. He has no other alternative,” Kalu confidently stated.
According to him, the discussions are part of a broader effort to strengthen cooperation and unity within the South East, as regional leaders seek greater participation in national decision-making.
Kalu also praised Soludo’s track record in public service and economic planning, describing him as a technocrat capable of fostering partnerships across party lines.
The senator added that the APC remains open to visionary leaders from all parts of Nigeria who share its development-driven philosophy and are willing to contribute to good governance.
He explained that political realignment is an ongoing process in democracy, noting that leaders continuously assess opportunities that align with their governance goals and state interests.
While he did not announce a formal date for Soludo’s defection, Kalu said stakeholders’ meetings and consultations are ongoing, hinting that a major political shift could unfold ahead of future elections.“Soludo Will Soon Join APC”, Orji Kalu Declares, Hints at Major Political Realignment in South East According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC, Abia North) has disclosed that Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, is expected to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) soon. Soludo to Trump: "Christians are killing Christians in the South-East".
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has firmly rejected allegations that Christians in Nigeria’s South-East are facing a religious genocide, insisting that such claims distort the true nature of the region’s insecurity.
Speaking during a live media chat on Channels Television, Soludo said the violence is driven by deep-seated social, economic and political issues not religious persecution. His comments come on the heels of U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent accusation that the Nigerian government is enabling widespread killings of Christians, with a threat of possible military intervention to “protect” them.
Soludo dismissed the narrative, arguing that the crisis is being mischaracterized by international voices unfamiliar with the region’s realities.
“There is a deeper conversation and introspection about what goes on in the country,” he said.
“In this part of eastern Nigeria, it is not religious. People are killing themselves Christians killing Christians. The people in the bushes are Emmanuel, Peter, and John, all Christian names, and they have maimed and killed thousands of our youths. It has nothing to do with religion.”
The former Central Bank governor explained that the South-East is overwhelmingly Christian about 95 percent making it illogical to frame the killings as targeted persecution of Christians by another faith group.
“It is wider than the categorisation of Christians and Muslims,” he noted. “Nigeria will overcome, and it will end in conversation.”
While acknowledging America’s right to express concerns, Soludo emphasized that any international action must “still align with international law,” stressing that external interventions must be grounded in accurate understanding rather than sensational claims.
The governor’s remarks add to ongoing debates about the root causes of insecurity in the South-East, which many local leaders describe as a complex mix of separatist agitation, criminality and socio-economic frustration rather than religious conflict.Soludo to Trump: "Christians are killing Christians in the South-East". “It’s Not Religious — Christians Killing Christians”: Gov. Soludo Dismisses Claims of Genocide in South-East Nigeria
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has dismissed reports suggesting that Christians in Nigeria’s South-East are facing religious genocide, insisting that such claims are false and misleading.
Speaking during a live media chat on Channels Television, Soludo clarified that the ongoing violence in the region stems from social, political, and economic issues, not from religious persecution.
His remarks followed a recent statement by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who accused the Nigerian government of allowing mass killings of Christians and hinted at possible military intervention to “protect” them.
“There is a deeper conversation and introspection about what goes on in the country,” Soludo said.

The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor emphasized that the South-East is 95 percent Christian, and that both perpetrators and victims share the same faith.
“In this part of the country, we are 95 percent Christians, and those committing these acts bear Christian names. It’s far wider than Christians versus Muslims. Nigeria will overcome, and it will all end in dialogue,” he added.
Soludo concluded by urging the United States to ensure that its international actions align with global law and facts, rather than assumptions or political rhetoric.

Soludo to Trump: "By your logic, Africa should have invaded America during #BlackLivesMatter".
Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo has said Nigeria’s security challenges are far more complex than a simple Christian-versus-Muslim conflict, warning that U.S. President Trump’s recent comments on “protecting Christians in Nigeria” fail to capture the true nature of the crisis.
Speaking during a media chat on Sunday, Soludo said while the United States has the right to express its opinions on global issues, any intervention must respect Nigeria’s sovereignty & international law.
“America, as a sovereign nation can have its views about what happens elsewhere,” Soludo said. “But whatever actions it takes must remain within the boundaries of international law.”
The governor urged the Nigerian government to engage in deeper, fact-based discussions to properly address concerns raised by foreign actors. He noted that much of the violence in the South-East stems from internal disputes rather than religious motives.
“In the South-East, it’s largely Christians killing Christians,” he explained. “The people in the bushes are Emmanuel, Peter, and John all Christian names. This has nothing to do with religion.”
Soludo maintained that any form of external assistance should come only through formal diplomatic channels, such as requests for military support or technology not through threats of invasion. Drawing a parallel, he said it would be absurd if African countries threatened to invade the U.S. over racial violence.
“You had policemen killing Black people during the #BlackLivesMatter protests,” he said. “Should Africa then invade America because Blacks are being killed? That wouldn’t make sense.”
He also reminded observers that the South-East is almost entirely Christian. “We are about 95 percent Christian in this part of the country,” he said. “Those causing violence are Christians too. It’s much deeper than the labels of Christians and Muslims.”Soludo to Trump: "By your logic, Africa should have invaded America during #BlackLivesMatter". Anambra governorship election: “You’ll suffer” — AAC’s Ifemeludike alleges in new video as she warns Anambra residents against re-electing Governor Soludo.
African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate, Chioma Ifemeludike, has cautioned Anambra residents and alleged that they will “suffer” if they reelect Governor Chukwuma Soludo instead of voting for her in the November 8 election.
The Nollywood actress and producer criticized Soludo over the poor condition of roads in Awka, particularly Uche Ekwunife Crescent, which she described as “totally dilapidated.” She accused the governor of neglecting basic infrastructure while constructing a new Government House with “wide, paved roads for himself and his generations.”
Ifemeludike said Soludo’s administration has failed to deliver good governance or quality social amenities, claiming he is only interested in showmanship. “If you miss out, you will suffer for it because Soludo is not ready to provide real leadership,” she said.
In a Facebook post directed at the governor, she asked, “@ccsoludo, why are you afraid to repair the capital city’s bad roads? Awka shouldn’t look so rural and undeveloped. With FAAC, local allocations, and IGR, we should have Dubai/Taiwan-style infrastructure.”
She urged voters not to be deceived but to come out en masse to make a better choice on election day. “On November 8, you have a choice — and that choice is Chioma for governor 2025,” she declared.

Soludo’s son Ozonna fires back at critics: I won’t change to please anyone.
Ozonna Soludo, son of Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo, has responded to the criticism he frequently faces from Nigerians on social media, saying he has no intention of changing who he is to satisfy anyone.
Speaking in a recent interview with content creator Goodybagg, Ozonna said that being visible and confident naturally attracts negative attention, but he remains unbothered.
I think it just kind of comes with it. Anybody that is visible and confident, you are going to get hate. I’m not going to apologise to them for not liking me; I’m going to keep being myself, he said.
I don’t do this to be liked by everyone because I have a very strong sense of myself, and I’m not willing to apologise for that. We are billions of people on the planet, and we are all different.
His remarks come weeks after he sparked debate online by joining the viral ‘What’s in your bag’ challenge, where he revealed the contents of his personal bag.
While many praised his honesty and individuality, others criticised him harshly — with some making intrusive comments about his upbringing and sexuality.
Despite the backlash, Ozonna insists he will continue to live authentically, saying he has no plans to dim his confidence for anyone’s approval.Soludo’s son Ozonna fires back at critics: I won’t change to please anyone. ADC Candidate John Nwosu Blasts Governor Soludo Over Insecurity Ahead of Anambra Polls
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for the November 8 Anambra State election, John Nwosu, has criticized incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo, accusing him of failing the people during his tenure.
Speaking on ‘Prime Time’ on Arise Television, Nwosu highlighted that four years in office is crucial for a state’s progress and said Soludo’s administration has fallen short.
“The indices are there for everyone to see, starting with insecurity. In the last three and a half years, Anambra has lost people to kidnappings,” he stated.
He cited Ihiala Local Government, home to the owner of Air Peace, as a stark example:
“That area has been ravaged by insecurity for over three years. Residents have been forced to hold weddings and burials outside their hometown because they cannot return safely,” Nwosu added.

INEC Must Not Pretend’ – ADC Accuses Soludo Of Vote Buying Ahead Of Anambra Election.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, of engaging in voter inducement, following a viral video clip showing the governor addressing electorates ahead of the November 8 governorship election.
In a statement on Sunday by its National spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC claimed that the governor’s remarks were a “clear display of desperation” and an “open violation” of the Electoral Act, particularly Sections 121 and 127, which criminalise vote buying and voter inducement.
“Ahead of the November 8th election, Soludo has clearly lost the confidence of the people of Anambra, and it shows,” the ADC said.
The ADC alleged that Governor Soludo’s recent actions indicate a loss of public goodwill and a willingness to disregard electoral laws for political survival.
“Only a sitting governor who has run out of public goodwill would so openly resort to cash for votes, in direct violation of Sections 121 and 127 of the Electoral Act, which criminalise voter inducement of any form,” the statement added.
The party described the act as “a new level of desperation wrapped in impunity”, warning that such conduct undermines democracy and erodes public trust in the electoral process.
The ADC also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take immediate notice of the governor’s alleged actions and ensure accountability.INEC Must Not Pretend’ – ADC Accuses Soludo Of Vote Buying Ahead Of Anambra Election. “Okpoko Kept Me Awake at Night” — Governor Soludo Reveals Why He Ran for Anambra Governorship
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has revealed that the Okpoko area in Ogbaru Local Government was one of the main reasons he decided to contest for governor in 2022.
Speaking during the Ogbaru Constituency Campaign Rally held in Okpoko on Friday, Soludo said the deplorable condition of the community inspired his mission to transform the state.
“Okpoko is one of the major reasons why I contested to be governor of Anambra,” Soludo said.
“From 2010 until 2022, I could not sleep well seeing the way Okpoko was — the biggest urban slum in the Southeast, if not Nigeria, with over half a million people. No water, no roads, no streetlights, nothing.”
The governor recalled his campaign promise to begin work in Okpoko immediately after his inauguration — a promise he said he fulfilled.
“I was sworn in on the 17th, and on the 18th I came here. Today, over 20 kilometers of roads have been completed, with streetlights, pipe-borne water, and for the first time, a hospital for Okpoko residents,” Soludo added.
“Children now enjoy free education, and that’s why we came — to show love and deliver real change. I love you all, and I’ll even take one room here,” he said jokingly.
Soludo’s remarks highlighted his administration’s focus on inclusive development, particularly for communities long neglected in urban planning.

Anambra Govt Orders Iron Dealers to Relocate to Nteje After Election — “No Going Back,” Soludo’s Aide Warns
The Anambra State Government has issued a firm directive to all iron dealers in Onitsha and Ogbaru, ordering them to relocate to the new permanent Iron Dealers Market at Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area, immediately after the November 8 gubernatorial election.
Speaking during the dedication of the new market, the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Trade and Markets, Hon. Evaristus Ubah (represented by Hon. Ezennia Chukwuemelie Ibekwe), vowed that traders who refuse to move will be forcefully ejected.
“If there are those still remaining in Onitsha or Ogbaru, we will ensure they are relocated here to Nteje. There is no going back after the election,” he declared.
Union Chairman Mr. Evaristus Ejezie expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo for his unwavering support in the market’s construction, describing the project as a divine success story despite numerous challenges. He also appealed to the government to enforce relocation of remaining members, emphasizing that the market will significantly boost state revenue once fully occupied.
Ejezie urged traders who have made payments to submit their evidence for shop allocation, assuring them that transparency and fairness remain the priority.
The market dedication was conducted by Lt. Col. Godspower Anozie of the Salvation Army, Anambra West Division, who prayed for prosperity, unity, and divine protection for the traders.
In his remarks, Chief Humphrey Anuna, President-General of the Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA), commended the union executives for their vision, describing the Nteje Market as a future international hub that could surpass major building materials markets in Nigeria.
Other union leaders, including Hon. Ejike Ignatius of Allied Building Materials International Market and former chairman Mr. Nnaemeka Onuzulike, pledged total cooperation with the relocation plan, urging members to embrace peace and unity as business activities commence.
The event ended with prayers and blessings for the market executives and their committees, symbolizing a new beginning for Anambra’s booming building materials sector.

Gov. Soludo Bans Graduation Ceremonies, Christmas Parties in Anambra Schools.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has banned graduation ceremonies and Christmas parties in all schools across the state to ease financial pressure on parents and guardians.
Speaking during an All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) campaign rally in Awka North on Friday, ahead of the November 8 governorship election, Soludo said the decision is part of efforts to make education more affordable and equitable.
He expressed concern that many schools—government, private, and mission-owned—had turned education into a source of unnecessary financial burden for struggling families.
“This directive applies to all schools in Anambra. We are setting basic standards to ensure poor parents are not made to spend excessively because their children are in school,” he said.
Soludo also announced a ban on the use of textbooks designed for students to write in, explaining that such books prevent them from being reused by younger siblings. “Once a child finishes a class, he should be able to pass on his textbooks,” he said.
The governor criticized schools for organizing elaborate “graduation ceremonies” for pupils advancing from one class to another, describing the practice as exploitative since it often requires parents to pay for special gowns or uniforms.
“Even Christmas parties should not be funded by parents. These are unnecessary expenses,” Soludo declared.
He warned that the state government would begin strict enforcement of the new policy, adding that any school found violating it would be sealed. “We will begin enforcement immediately, and if your school fails to comply, we will close it. You can go to court—we will meet there,” he said.

“They Ignored My Calls” — Sowore Reveals Otti and Soludo’s Silence Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Detention
African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Omoyele Sowore, has revealed that his attempts to reach Abia State Governor Alex Otti and Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo over the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), were unsuccessful.
In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, Sowore said he reached out to the two Southeast governors as part of his efforts to rally key political leaders to unite in demanding Kanu’s release — but neither took his calls nor responded to his messages.
“I have tried reaching out personally to Dr. Alex Otti, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, and Mr. Peter Obi through his team today.
Alex Otti and Soludo neither took my calls nor responded to my messages,” Sowore wrote.
The activist and Sahara Reporters publisher added that while Otti and Soludo remained silent, he was able to connect with Hon. Obi Aguocha, a federal lawmaker from Abia State, who responded positively to his appeal for joint action.
Sowore also mentioned that he reached out to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, urging him and other national leaders to join the collective call for Kanu’s unconditional release.
His statement has since sparked intense debate online, with many Nigerians questioning the political unity and responsiveness of Southeast leaders regarding Kanu’s continued incarceration.

Anambra United Behind Soludo: Governor Celebrates Massive Grassroots Support Ahead of 2025 Election!
Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State has expressed deep gratitude over the growing wave of grassroots support for his re-election bid, declaring that the people of Anambra have “taken ownership” of his campaign ahead of the 2025 governorship election.
Speaking at the International Convention Center in Awka during a special endorsement event organized by the Patriots, a coalition of ethnic groups from 35 states residing in Anambra, Soludo said the unity and acceptance he has received reflect the inclusivity his administration has built over the past three years.
The governor described the endorsement as humbling and inspiring, noting that his government’s focus on fairness, unity, and development has strengthened trust among citizens, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds.
Soludo stated,
“I’ve been in public service at both national and state levels, and my principles have remained the same — merit, inclusiveness, and equal opportunity for all. Leadership is about service and results, not personal ambition.”
The event followed another major endorsement by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) during World Teachers’ Day, where members applauded Soludo’s administration for improving teacher welfare, upgrading school facilities, and implementing reforms that have transformed education in the state.

Soludo, Wife Dismiss Reported Apology From Uche Ekwunife as Fake
Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State and his wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, have rejected claims that Senator Uche Ekwunife issued an apology over defamatory remarks she allegedly made against them.
The supposed apology, which circulated online and was credited to the “Ekwunife Campaign Organization,” was described by the Soludos as “another fabrication” lacking credibility.
In a statement on Wednesday signed by Mazi Ejimofor Opara, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the governor, the apology was dismissed as unsigned, misleading, and suspicious.
The statement, titled “Sen. Ekwunife’s Purported Apology: Another Fabrication Fit for the Waste Bin,” noted that no such campaign organization exists, since Ekwunife is only a deputy governorship candidate on a joint ticket with the APC governorship flagbearer in Anambra.
“The publication purporting to be an apology for the defamatory statements made against the Governor and his wife personally by Senator Ekwunife does not appear to have emanated from the Senator herself, given that her defamatory statements were made directly via recorded video and leaked audio conversation,” Opara said.
He stressed that any genuine retraction or apology must come directly from Ekwunife herself, and through the same channels where the original allegations were made.
Opara further pointed out that the purported apology failed to reference Ekwunife’s viral video and audio recordings, instead focusing on an unsigned write-up—an omission the Soludos believe indicates bad faith.
The statement also recalled that Dr. Nonye Soludo had previously challenged Ekwunife to:
1. Swear an oath of marital fidelity before the Blessed Sacrament.
2. Subject her children, alongside the Soludos’, to a DNA test to disprove the infidelity allegations.
“Any contrite apology must follow a personal and direct retraction of her defamatory statements,” Opara maintained. “Slander or libel made by an individual cannot be dismissed by proxy.”
The Soludo administration described the apology as nothing more than “unsubstantiated social media gossip”, insisting it will be disregarded until Ekwunife herself issues a clear, unambiguous retraction.

Anambra First Lady Nonye Soludo Gives Uche Ekwunife 72 Hours to Retract Infidelity Claims, Threatens Legal Action
The political rivalry in Anambra State has taken a dramatic turn as Nonye Soludo, wife of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to former senator and APC deputy governorship candidate, Uche Ekwunife, demanding a retraction and public apology over allegations of infidelity.
In a strongly worded statement released on Saturday, Mrs Soludo described the accusations as “wilful and malicious,” warning that failure to recant would leave her with no option but to seek legal redress.
“My lawyers have been put on notice. As a Christian, I will still give Uche a chance to repent and make restitution by withdrawing her false allegations within 72 hours and tendering an unreserved apology. If she fails, I will take every necessary step to ensure justice,” she declared.
The feud erupted after a viral video captured Mrs Ekwunife alleging that Mrs Soludo had an affair with late Anambra governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju and questioning the paternity of her children. The remarks came shortly after Governor Soludo publicly challenged Ekwunife’s academic credentials, particularly her claimed Ph.D.
Firing back, Mrs Soludo dismissed the claims as baseless:
“In my 55 years on earth, I have known only one man — Chukwuma Soludo. I married him a virgin, and my fidelity in 33 years of marriage, and for life, is ironclad.”
To prove her innocence, she went further, proposing DNA tests for both families in three London hospitals, promising to foot all expenses. She also challenged Mrs Ekwunife to take an oath of fidelity before the Blessed Sacrament in the Catholic Church.
“I will swear with my children that I have known only one man, my husband. On your part, you should also swear with your children,” she added.
The explosive exchange has heightened political tensions in Anambra, sparking widespread public debate as Nigerians watch to see whether Mrs Ekwunife will issue an apology or face legal consequences.

Soludo’s Wife Replies Ekwunife After She Claimed The Governor Has Mouth And Body Odour.
Mrs Soludo was reacting to a video where the senator attacked the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
Mrs Nonye Soludo, wife of the Governor of Anambra State has replied the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming governorship election, Senator Uche Ekwunife.
Recall that Ekwunife had in a recent video mocked Soludu, claiming that he has both mouth and body odour.
Mrs Soludo in her reply urged Ekwunife to focus on how to defend her PhD degree, which have been allegedly found out to be fake and issued by an unaccredited institution.
The wife of the governor in a statement signed by her media Adviser, Mr Daniel Ezeigwe said: “At no time was Soludo nor his wife involved in the government of the time (Mbadinuju). Though it is sad that Senator Ekwunife would rather resort to inciting hate and name-calling against a woman who is widely loved by the people, the truth is that, unlike Ekwunife herself, the governor’s wife can never be drawn to political or personal debasement.
“To bring clarity to light and to ensure that unsuspecting members of the public — especially Ndi Anambra who hold the Soludos in the highest esteem — do not get misled by false information, we wish to establish that at no point did the wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr. (Mrs) Frances Nonye Soludo work or was involved in any role in the administration of Ex-Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju.
“The viral recorded clip, where Senator Uche Ekwunife falsely stated that the governor’s wife was part of late Dr. Mbadinuju’s administration, should be totally disregarded as a statement of mischief and pure deceit.”
Mrs Soludo urged Ekwunife to concentrate on her political journey and leave her out in her attempt to derail the argument about the authenticity or otherwise of her PhD degree.
The statement added, “While we understand Senator Ekwunife’s natural disposition to petty contrivance, including investing in lies and fallacious claims, it is important to state that at the time of Governor Mbadinuju’s tenure, Dr. Nonye was already doing well as an established entrepreneur in agriculture and real estate.
