Popular Nigerian actor and matchmaker, Lege Miami, whose real name is Adams Kehinde, has finally addressed his absence from the viral birthday tribute video made for Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The trending tribute, which featured some of Nigeria’s biggest personalities — including Burna Boy, Femi Otedola, Aliko Dangote, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Olamide Badoo — left fans wondering why Lege, a self-proclaimed close associate of Seyi, was not included.

Many social media users teased Lege Miami over the omission, prompting the actor to respond. In a new video, Lege revealed that his “poor English” was the reason his clip didn’t make it into the final cut.

“Because I cannot speak good English, Seyi did not add my video to the post,” he said jokingly, adding that people should not blame Seyi for the decision.


However, reactions flooded social media, with some fans disagreeing with Lege’s explanation.

Osun Shooting: Death toll rises, as Adeleke orders probe.

Death toll has risen to four following reported shootings by Osun Amotekun operatives in Akinlalu town, Osun State, last Tuesday, as one of the critically injured victims was confirmed dead in the early hours of yesterday.

Akinlalu residents claimed that Amotekun operatives invaded the community last Tuesday and shot sporadically, leading to the death of three persons, while eight others were critically injured.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Mr Babarinde Olamide said the Amotekun operatives invaded the community at noon over claims that a suspect seized its operative’s locally-fabricated weapon.

He said the operatives came in three different vehicles and on getting to the heart of the town, started shooting sporadically at residents, while those who ran at them were cut severally with cutlass.

“In the process, three persons were killed on the spot and several others severely injured. Surprisingly, the operatives took the dead bodies away and those critically injured. We received that one of those injured has died at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo after surgery early on Saturday,” he said However, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered investigation into the killings, dispatching government delegation to the community.

The governor, in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, yesterday, said: “I am a rule of law governor. This matter is being investigated and any infraction will be dealt with within the context of the law. I have ordered a Security Council meeting on this incident and others such as fears of spill over from Kwara banditry attacks.I sent my condolences to the victims of this unfortunate incident. I urge the good people of Akinlalu to keep calm as our government acts on the matter. I feel their pains but investigations are ongoing,” the governor said.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state berated the Amotekun operatives for involving in extra-judicial killings, calling on the Governor to be transparent in the process of unravelling those behind the killings.

Court Jails 4 Internet Fraudsters In Lagos.

Four young men who turned a Lagos hotel into a hub for online scams have been imprisoned by the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, which found them guilty of internet fraud.

In his verdict, Justice Dehinde Dipeolu, convicted Martins Emmanuel, Abeeb Olamide Asiru, Iremide Owolabi and Quadri Abdulrasheed Adio on charges of impersonation and online fraud.

A statement on the official Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) X handle said the quartet were arrested on August 29, 2025, when its operatives raided Mambillah Hotel in Ikorodu.

The sting operation followed intelligence that the premises were being used as a base by a syndicate of internet fraudsters.

Mobile phones and fraudulent documents were recovered from the suspects and tendered in court as evidence. After reviewing their confessional statements and the forensic analysis of their devices, the judge ruled that the EFCC had proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

U.S. Prosecutors Arraign Lagos Big Boy Extradited for $2m Sextortion, Wire Fraud, Others

U.S. authorities have begun the prosecution of Olamide Shanu, a 34-year-old Nigerian extradited from the United Kingdom over alleged sextortion and wire fraud schemes that netted him at least $2 million.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) announced on Thursday that Shanu made his first court appearance before Magistrate Judge Debora K. Grasham after arriving in the United States.

He faces an eight-count indictment, including charges of wire fraud conspiracy, aggravated identity theft, money laundering conspiracy, extortion, interstate communications with intent to extort, and cyberstalking. 

If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in federal prison, in addition to restitution to victims.
According to prosecutors, Shanu and his accomplices posed as women on social media to lure men into sharing explicit photos. Once obtained, the images were used to blackmail the victims, including a college student in Idaho, by threatening to expose them unless payments were made.

Investigators allege Shanu laundered over $2 million through peer-to-peer payment apps and cryptocurrency wallets before funneling the funds to co-conspirators in Nigeria.

Court filings from 2023 revealed that U.S. Secret Service agents had seized his Binance account, linking it to a $2.5 million sextortion, wire fraud, and money laundering scheme.

BBNaija Faces Legal Threat As Lawyer Petitions NBC, Demands Ban Or Regulation Within 30 Days.

Activist lawyer Maduabuchi Idam has petitioned the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), calling for an immediate ban or strict regulation of the ongoing Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show.

He described the programme as ob+cene, indecent, and prof@ne, and gave the commission 30 days to act or face legal action. In the petition addressed to NBC’s Director General and titled “Urgent need to ban or regulate the content of the television programme described as ‘Big Brother Naija’ for ob+cene, indecent, and prof@ne content, pursuant to the NBC Act 1999,” Idam accused the show of airing real-time explicit and pornographic content freely on television and social media.

“The show is not only aired on national TV but its profane content is proudly shared on the verified social media handles of the host company, in total disregard for public morality,” he stated.

He questioned why NBC, which had previously banned or sanctioned music videos by Olamide, Phyno, Wizkid, and others for similar reasons, has remained silent about BBNaija’s content.

Although BBNaija is rated 18+, Idam said this rating is insufficient because the show’s content is still easily accessible to underage viewers and the general public, especially via social media. He argued that the programme contributes nothing of educational, artistic, scientific, or literary value and blamed it for undermining public decency and morality.

Idam urged the NBC to restrict the show to highly regulated channels reserved for adult audiences and to prohibit the distribution of expl+cit clips by the host company online. He stressed that Nigeria, already struggling with insecurity and other social vices, cannot afford the moral damage caused by such unregulated content.

“The NBC must act now to prevent further erosion of our societal values,” he warned, threatening legal action if no action is taken within 30 days.

Court Orders Police to Pay N10 Million in Damages to Protesters.

A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the Nigeria Police Force to pay N10 million in damages for violating the fundamental rights of protesters.

Justice Musa Kakaki, who delivered the ruling on Thursday, found the police guilty of infringing on the rights of demonstrators who gathered at the Lekki Tollgate on October 20, 2024, to mark the fourth anniversary of the movement.

On that day, at least 20 protesters were arrested by officers of the Lagos State Police Command and held for several hours in a police van before being released without any formal charges.

The lawsuit, filed as a fundamental rights enforcement action, was brought by 22 individuals in collaboration with three civil society groups — the Education Rights Campaign, Take It Back Movement & the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights. The applicants accused the police of unlawful arrest & suppression of their constitutional rights to free expression & peaceful assembly.

Students Protest Renaming of The Polytechnic Ibadan.

Students of The Polytechnic Ibadan on Tuesday staged a protest at the Oyo State Government Secretariat, opposing the recent decision by Governor Seyi Makinde to rename the institution after former Governor Omololu Olunloyo.

Carrying placards with various inscriptions, the students called on the governor to reverse the name change and preserve the identity and legacy of the institution.

Led by the Students Union Government (SUG) President, Olamide Oladipupo, the protesters emphasized that the original name of the polytechnic holds historical and academic significance globally and should not be altered.

The protest follows Makinde’s announcement on June 26, 2025, during the funeral service of Olunloyo, where he declared the renaming of the institution to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan. Olunloyo, who died on April 6, 2025, was the institution’s first principal and briefly served as governor of Oyo State in 1983.

Governor Makinde described the move as a tribute to Olunloyo’s contributions as a scholar, technocrat, and cultural figure. However, students believe such a change disregards the identity the institution has built over the years.

Addressing the protesters, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security, Sunday Odukoya, urged the students to remain peaceful while their concerns are reviewed.

The renaming of public institutions after political figures has increasingly stirred controversy nationwide. Similar changes—such as attempts to rename the University of Abuja and University of Lagos—have faced public resistance from students and alumni.
