Brief: ‘Let’s Face 2027 Elections’ — Charly Boy Shrugs Off Bus Stop Renaming.

Musician and activist Charles Oputa, aka Charly Boy, has downplayed the renaming of the Charly Boy Bus Stop in Gbagada, Lagos, urging Nigerians to focus instead on the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on The Morning Brief, he said the gesture was not a priority, stressing that recognition should go to anyone who has served their community — including new honoree, music star Olamide.

Charly Boy, who once lived in Gbagada and contributed to the area, said the bus stop was originally named after him in the early 1990s. However, he insisted that national issues, especially political accountability and credible elections, matter more than symbolic name changes.

He warned Nigerians not to support leaders who serve personal interests and called for a people-focused, honest, and self-reliance-driven leadership in 2027.
