  • Brief: Violators Of Open Grazing Risk Three-Year Jail Term – Ogun Govt.

The Ogun State Government has issued a fresh warning to herders and cattle owners against open grazing, reminding the public that violators face a minimum of three years in prison without the option of a fine.

The warning, issued by the governor’s media adviser Kayode Akinmade, follows increasing incidents of herders obstructing traffic and encroaching on farmlands.

Signed into law in 2021, the Animal Grazing Regulation and Cattle Ranch Establishment Law mandates that all livestock rearing take place within approved ranches. Violators will also forfeit their livestock to the state.

The government says it remains committed to enforcing the law “with vigour” to protect lives, farmlands, and public safety.

  • Tragedy in Ogun: Missing Teen Found Dead With Vital Organs Removed — Police Arrest 2 Over Suspected Ritual Killing

Heartbreak has struck the Igbile-Ijebu community in Ogun State as police confirmed the gruesome murder of 16-year-old Lawal Wahab, whose mutilated body was discovered on July 23, 2025, along the Old Express Road.

Lawal, who had been staying with his grandmother, was declared missing by his father earlier this month. Shockingly, when his remains were found, his head, wrists, heart, and genitals had been removed—pointing to a suspected ritual killing.

According to Ogun Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, two suspects, Salaeu Omikansola (25) and Serefusi Agemo, were arrested by the Omu-Ijebu Division following credible intelligence. One of them reportedly gave a voluntary confession, which has been recorded on video.

Due to the decomposed state of the body, the victim was buried promptly under Islamic rites. The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, for deeper investigation, while a manhunt continues for fleeing accomplices.

Police are urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements as the fight against ritual killings intensifies.
