• Military Arrests 4 Nigerian Police Officers for Violating President Tinubu’s VIP Escort Directive

The Nigerian military has detained four police officers in Abuja for allegedly violating President Bola Tinubu’s directive to withdraw police personnel from VIP escort duties. The officers—ASP Musa Waziri, Insp. Jeremiah Achimogu, Insp. Awipi Terry, and Insp. Hassan Baba—were reportedly caught providing unauthorized protection to a VIP on December 17, 2025. Security sources revealed the officers disguised themselves in uniforms resembling the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to evade detection. • Two Boko Haram Commanders, 11 Others Killed In Failed Borno Attack

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed two top Boko Haram commanders and eleven other terrorists in counteroffensives at Bitta and Wulgo communities, Gwoza LGA, Borno State.

The commanders, Abu Nazir (Munzir of Juye) and Abu Fatima (Munzir of Koloram), led back-to-back failed attacks on August 21 and 22 but were neutralized by ground and air forces after hours of gun battles.

Theater Commander Maj. Gen. Abdulsallam Abubakar confirmed the operation, adding that troops recovered AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and six motorcycles, while several terrorists escaped with injuries.

Bitta and Wulgo, resettled after Boko Haram’s 2014 occupation of Gwoza, remain vulnerable due to their proximity to the Mandara Mountains and the Cameroon border where insurgents still hide.
