  • Nigeria is stepping into a new era and this time, it’s our entire revenue system getting a major upgrade.

In what is easily the biggest shake-up since the TSA era, the federal government has rolled out a unified digital platform that finally puts every revenue stream under one transparent umbrella. No more scattered systems, no more blind spots, everything now speaks to one powerful engine.

Backed by fresh directives from the Accountant General’s office, all federal payments will move fully electronic from January 1, 2026, and the Federal Treasury e-Receipt becomes the only official proof of payment. Physical cash receipts are out.

Those unapproved payment apps some agencies use? Gone. Every Naira collected must go straight into the TSA, clean, clear and accountable.

This is big good news for Nigeria.
For the first time, the government will have real-time visibility of what MDAs collect, remit and account for. Leakages that cost the nation billions every year now face their toughest fight yet.

With the new Revenue Optimisation Platform overseeing billing, reconciliation and performance tracking, corruption loopholes will shrink dramatically.

And for citizens and businesses, it gets even better: no more guesswork, no more shady receipts, no more paying into the wrong hands. Payments become straightforward, secure and easy to verify.

This reform isn’t just another policy, it’s a signal that Nigeria is serious about modernising public finance and tightening the system where it matters most.

A cleaner, smarter, more transparent revenue process is finally here and a big win for everyone.

  • Chih-Tang Sah: The Semiconductor Pioneer Whose Ashes Returned to China After Transforming Global Chip Technology

The ashes of semiconductor pioneer Chih-Tang Sah (Sa Zhitang) — a legendary figure whose innovations power nearly all modern electronic devices — have been moved from the United States to Fujian, China, his ancestral home, for burial beside his late wife.

Sah, celebrated as one of the foundational minds of microelectronics, co-developed the CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) transistor architecture with collaborator Frank Wanlass. Their breakthrough paved the way for low-power, high-efficiency integrated circuits, forming the backbone of the global semiconductor industry.

According to High-Frequency Integrated Circuits by University of Toronto professor Sorin Voinigescu, CMOS technology accounted for about 99% of all semiconductor chips manufactured worldwide by 2011, underscoring Sah’s lasting impact on modern electronics.

Despite decades abroad, those close to him said Sah “kept his homeland in his heart,” a sentiment reflected in his final return to China.

  • Tinubu’s Aide Sunday Asefon Accused of Harassment and Threats by Estranged Wife

Sunday Asefon Adedayo, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Student Engagements, has been accused by his estranged wife of abandonment, harassment and threats to her safety. Mrs. Asefon alleges that her husband left the family for three years, engaged in an affair with a travel agent he introduced during their planned relocation to Canada, and used his political influence along with loyalists in student unions to intimidate her. She recounts multiple incidents of threats, coordinated attacks, and interference with police investigations. Living alone with her two children in Ibadan, she says she fears for her life. Asefon, however, denies orchestrating any threats, claiming family disputes and counter-accusations from both sides are being misrepresented. He maintains that they have been separated for years and insists he has no reason to harm her. Mrs. Asefon is appealing for protection and safety for herself and her children.
