• Postgraduate Student Arrested for Criticising Niger Governor on Facebook.

A postgraduate student of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), Abubakar Isah Mokwa, has been arrested by the police for allegedly criticising Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State on Facebook.

Mokwa, a student of the Department of Agricultural Economy and Extension, was picked up by police from his off-campus residence in Lapai on Thursday.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said Mokwa was detained following a complaint bordering on cyber-related offences.

“The Niger State Police Command received a criminal complaint bordering on cyber bullying, cyber stalking and other Cybercrime related offences against one Abubakar Isah Mokwa, 29yrs, of Mokwa, and a postgraduate student of IBBUL,” Abiodun said.

He added that the suspect was “invited and arrested by the Lapai Division on 23rd October, 2025, at about 11pm and transferred to the State Police Command Headquarters, Minna for further investigation.”

According to him, “the suspect is in custody and further development will be made public.”

This arrest adds to a growing list of incidents involving the Niger State government and critics of Governor Bago.

In August, the state government suspended Badegi 90.1 FM, an independent radio station in Minna, over alleged criticism of the governor.

Reacting to the latest arrest, the International Press Institute (IPI) Nigeria condemned what it described as “a growing pattern of repression against the press under Governor Bago’s leadership.”

“In January 2025, Yakubu Mustapha, the Niger State correspondent for Peoples Daily and Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ, was detained for three days after allegedly circulating an article critical of the governor’s media adviser,” IPI recalled.

“Similarly, in November 2023, Mustapha Nasiru Batsari, the Niger State correspondent of the Voice of America (VOA), was reportedly assaulting by a commissioner in Governor Bago’s cabinet after requesting an interview regarding a violent clash between farmers in Beji,” it added.

  • Anambra First Lady Nonye Soludo Gives Uche Ekwunife 72 Hours to Retract Infidelity Claims, Threatens Legal Action

The political rivalry in Anambra State has taken a dramatic turn as Nonye Soludo, wife of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to former senator and APC deputy governorship candidate, Uche Ekwunife, demanding a retraction and public apology over allegations of infidelity.

In a strongly worded statement released on Saturday, Mrs Soludo described the accusations as “wilful and malicious,” warning that failure to recant would leave her with no option but to seek legal redress.

“My lawyers have been put on notice. As a Christian, I will still give Uche a chance to repent and make restitution by withdrawing her false allegations within 72 hours and tendering an unreserved apology. If she fails, I will take every necessary step to ensure justice,” she declared.

The feud erupted after a viral video captured Mrs Ekwunife alleging that Mrs Soludo had an affair with late Anambra governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju and questioning the paternity of her children. The remarks came shortly after Governor Soludo publicly challenged Ekwunife’s academic credentials, particularly her claimed Ph.D.

Firing back, Mrs Soludo dismissed the claims as baseless:

“In my 55 years on earth, I have known only one man — Chukwuma Soludo. I married him a virgin, and my fidelity in 33 years of marriage, and for life, is ironclad.”

To prove her innocence, she went further, proposing DNA tests for both families in three London hospitals, promising to foot all expenses. She also challenged Mrs Ekwunife to take an oath of fidelity before the Blessed Sacrament in the Catholic Church.

“I will swear with my children that I have known only one man, my husband. On your part, you should also swear with your children,” she added.

The explosive exchange has heightened political tensions in Anambra, sparking widespread public debate as Nigerians watch to see whether Mrs Ekwunife will issue an apology or face legal consequences.

  • Nigerian Police Threaten Journalists In Kano, Detain Reporter Over Facebook Post

The Kano State Police Command has come under heavy criticism after detaining and threatening Abdulaziz Aliyu, a journalist with Waraka TV, over a Facebook post, while also attempting to discredit the Association of Kano Online Journalists (ASKOJ) for condemning the harassment.

Aliyu said he was lured to the police station under false pretences.

“A police officer who identified himself as CSP Sabo called me, claiming I was linked to a stolen phone investigation. But when I got there, it turned out to be about a Facebook publication I made,” Aliyu explained.

He was reportedly detained for more than two hours at the Court Road Area Command in Gyadi-Gyadi on September 9, 2025, before being released on bail around 10pm with instructions to return the next day.

The post in question was linked to a Hausa historical programme aired on Karama Radio about Sarkin Zazzau Malam Jafaru Ɗan Isiyaku, ruler of Zazzau from 1937 to 1959, which was also shared on Waraka Online TV.

Following the incident, ASKOJ condemned the growing harassment of journalists, warning that press freedom was under siege.

“The increasing cases of police invitations and detentions of journalists across the country are deeply worrying and must be condemned. Journalism is constitutionally recognized, yet some individuals intoxicated by power see it as a threat and use state resources to intimidate and harass journalists,” ASKOJ chairman Yakubu Salisu stated.

However, the Kano Police Command denied detaining Aliyu, insisting he was only “invited” following a written complaint. Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa further accused Salisu of misinformation and threatened legal action, adding that neither Aliyu nor Salisu were registered members of the NUJ.

Despite the denial, journalists and rights activists in Kano view the police response as a threat and attempt to silence the press.

  • Soludo’s Wife Replies Ekwunife After She Claimed The Governor Has Mouth And Body Odour.

Mrs Soludo was reacting to a video where the senator attacked the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

Mrs Nonye Soludo, wife of the Governor of Anambra State has replied the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming governorship election, Senator Uche Ekwunife.

Recall that Ekwunife had in a recent video mocked Soludu, claiming that he has both mouth and body odour.

Mrs Soludo in her reply urged Ekwunife to focus on how to defend her PhD degree, which have been allegedly found out to be fake and issued by an unaccredited institution.

The wife of the governor in a statement signed by her media Adviser, Mr Daniel Ezeigwe said: “At no time was Soludo nor his wife involved in the government of the time (Mbadinuju). Though it is sad that Senator Ekwunife would rather resort to inciting hate and name-calling against a woman who is widely loved by the people, the truth is that, unlike Ekwunife herself, the governor’s wife can never be drawn to political or personal debasement.

“To bring clarity to light and to ensure that unsuspecting members of the public — especially Ndi Anambra who hold the Soludos in the highest esteem — do not get misled by false information, we wish to establish that at no point did the wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr. (Mrs) Frances Nonye Soludo work or was involved in any role in the administration of Ex-Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju.

“The viral recorded clip, where Senator Uche Ekwunife falsely stated that the governor’s wife was part of late Dr. Mbadinuju’s administration, should be totally disregarded as a statement of mischief and pure deceit.”

Mrs Soludo urged Ekwunife to concentrate on her political journey and leave her out in her attempt to derail the argument about the authenticity or otherwise of her PhD degree.

The statement added, “While we understand Senator Ekwunife’s natural disposition to petty contrivance, including investing in lies and fallacious claims, it is important to state that at the time of Governor Mbadinuju’s tenure, Dr. Nonye was already doing well as an established entrepreneur in agriculture and real estate.

  • Armed Robbers Kill Online Publisher in Ibadan.

Armed robbers have killed Mr. Ojo Mogbadewa Peters, publisher of Daily Monitor, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Peters, whose death was first announced on the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) platform on Sunday, September 7, 2025, was earlier believed to have died of typhoid fever. However, investigations later revealed that he was a victim of a robbery attack around Molete, Ibadan, on August 18, 2025.

A discreet probe by National Insight, corroborated by family sources, confirmed that the journalist was killed by a notorious “one-chance” robbery gang operating along the Oke Ado–Molete axis of the city.

According to his younger brother, Mr. Peter Enahoro, the deceased was attacked around 2 p.m. on August 18, shortly after leaving a bank in Oke Ado. “On that same day that he was shot, I got a call from a police officer at Orita Challenge that our brother was at their station. But upon getting there, I was told he had been shot by a notorious armed robber operating with a motorcycle,” Enahoro said.

Family members disclosed that the assailants accosted Peters as he stepped out of the bank, snatched his bag, and shot him from behind before escaping on a motorcycle. He later died from the gunshot wounds and has since been buried.

A police source at Challenge Division confirmed the incident, adding that investigations are ongoing.

  • In mathematics, it’s rare to find a number that can be divided evenly by all the integers from 1 to 10.
Yet there exists one extraordinary number that defies this expectation — a number so remarkable that it has astonished mathematicians around the world.

    This number is 2520.

At first glance, it seems like just another ordinary number. But in reality, it holds a unique property: 2520 is divisible by every number from 1 to 10 without leaving a remainder — whether the divisor is even or odd.

    See for yourself:

    2520 ÷ 1 = 2520
    2520 ÷ 2 = 1260
    2520 ÷ 3 = 840
    2520 ÷ 4 = 630
    2520 ÷ 5 = 504
    2520 ÷ 6 = 420
    2520 ÷ 7 = 360
    2520 ÷ 8 = 315
    2520 ÷ 9 = 280
    2520 ÷ 10 = 252

The secret behind this number lies in a simple yet profound product:

    7 × 30 × 12 = 2520

    Here,
    • 7 represents the days of the week,
    • 30 represents the days in a month (in the traditional Indian Hindu calendar), and
    • 12 represents the months in a year.

Thus, 2520 becomes not just a number, but a symbolic representation of time itself — its cycles, its rhythm, and its completeness.

This fascinating connection was brought to light by the brilliant mind of Sri Srinivasa Ramanujan, one of India’s greatest mathematical geniuses.
