  • “Presidential Villa Is for Serious Leaders, Not Drunkards” — APC’s Jarrett Tennebe Dismisses Fears Over Jonathan’s 2027 Comeback

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarrett Tennebe, has responded to speculations that members of the ruling party fear a possible 2027 presidential comeback by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking in an interview with TVC News, Tennebe made it clear that the APC has nothing to worry about, emphasizing that the presidential villa is now reserved for “serious-minded leaders” — not for those who take governance lightly.

“I don’t think anybody is scared of former President Jonathan should he decide to run for the presidency in 2027,”
    — Jarrett Tennebe, APC Member

Tennebe praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as a focused and hardworking leader whose policies are already yielding positive results for Nigeria’s economy and citizens.

“The presidential villa now is not for drinking of roots; it’s not for drunkards. The person there now is serious-minded and doing his job,” he added.

He further cast doubt on Jonathan’s political influence, claiming that even in his South-South base, the former president might struggle to secure more than 5,000 votes.

Concluding, Tennebe reaffirmed that the APC remains confident in its leadership and has no fears about any potential challenger as 2027 approaches.

  • “Tinubu Must Be Judged by His Own Promise” — Analyst Warns President Over Unfulfilled Power Sector Pledge

A political affairs analyst, Destiny Enabulele, has raised serious concerns over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unfulfilled campaign promise to fix Nigeria’s power sector, warning that the failure could cost him re-election in 2027.

Speaking on Trust TV News on Monday, Enabulele reminded Nigerians of Tinubu’s 2023 campaign declaration, where he boldly vowed to deliver stable electricity nationwide within his first four years — and urged voters to reject him if he failed to deliver.

“President Tinubu said if he cannot provide stable electricity within four years, Nigerians shouldn’t vote for him again,” Enabulele recalled. “Almost two years into his term, even Abuja suffers epileptic power supply. How then will he campaign for re-election?”

The analyst noted that despite heavy investments and reforms, Nigeria’s power crisis remains unresolved, with citizens enduring frequent blackouts and businesses relying on generators to survive.

Enabulele cautioned that the President’s credibility and political capital are at stake if tangible progress isn’t made soon, stressing that Nigerians are more politically aware than ever before.

“We are no longer in an era where campaign promises are forgotten. Nigerians will remember what was said when it’s time to vote,” he warned.

Power supply remains one of the nation’s biggest challenges, with grid collapses, corruption, and regulatory inefficiencies crippling progress despite numerous interventions.

Enabulele emphasized that Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda must reflect in the energy sector, which he described as “the backbone of Nigeria’s economic revival.”

“The President himself invited us to judge him by his performance in this sector. Accountability must start from the top,” he added.

  • “Does It Make Sense to Say FCT Is Working But Tinubu Isn’t?” — Lere Olayinka Questions Critics Amid New Asokoro Road Project Launch

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stirred conversation online after posing a striking question to critics of both his principal and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Taking to his official X (Twitter) handle on Monday, October 6, 2025, Olayinka challenged those who praise the progress in the FCT yet criticize the President’s administration, calling their stance illogical.

His statement came shortly after the flag-off of a new road construction project in Asokoro, one of Abuja’s prime districts — an event attended by top dignitaries from across the nation.

The project, launched by Minister Nyesom Wike, marks another key infrastructure milestone under the Tinubu administration, reflecting the government’s continued investment in the capital’s development.

    In his post, Olayinka wrote:

“Does it make sense to say the FCT is working but Mr. President is not working?… For us, no sector will be left untouched.”

His comments echoed Wike’s own fiery remarks at the event, where the minister took a moment to address critics who, in his words, “find nothing good” about the current administration.

The FCT minister reaffirmed his commitment to delivering visible progress, stressing that all sectors would benefit from the renewed focus on national development.

  • Lere Olayinka Counters Sowore’s Court Claims, Says ‘Free Speech Isn’t a License for Defamation’

On Monday, October 6, 2025, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, reacted to a post by activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore regarding his ongoing legal battle with the Department of State Services (DSS).

Sowore had earlier taken to his X handle to share updates from a court hearing involving himself, Meta, and X (formerly Twitter). The activist revealed that the companies were dragged into the case over alleged defamatory posts — one of which labeled President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) a criminal.

According to Sowore, Meta’s legal representative appeared to side with the DSS during the hearing, sparking online discussions about freedom of expression and digital censorship in Nigeria.

In response, Olayinka fired back on his own X page, emphasizing that freedom of speech does not include making unfounded criminal allegations against individuals.

The online exchange reignited public debate about free speech, accountability, and Nigeria’s cybercrime laws, particularly given Sowore’s history with the DSS following his 2019 #RevolutionNow movement.

As of now, neither side has escalated the matter further, but Nigerians are closely watching as the court proceedings unfold and the debate over digital rights continues.

  • Nigerian Deportee Stranded in Togo After Secret Transfer from Ghana

According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a Nigerian man deported from the United States to Ghana has revealed he is now stranded in Togo after being secretly moved across the border with five others by Ghanaian officials.

Speaking to the BBC under anonymity, he explained that they were misled into believing they would be transferred from a military camp to better accommodation. Instead, they were smuggled through a back route into Togo, with local police allegedly bribed before they were “dumped” without official notification to Togolese authorities.

Currently, four of the deportees — three Nigerians and one Liberian — are in a hotel in Lomé, relying on staff to help them receive money from relatives abroad since they lack valid travel documents.

The Nigerian man described the Ghanaian camp as deplorable, citing poor access to water, healthcare, and medication. He further lamented that his children in the US are struggling without him and expressed fear of returning to Nigeria due to his involvement in the Yoruba Self Determination Movement.

Meanwhile, lawyers representing the deportees have filed lawsuits against both the US and Ghana, accusing them of human rights violations.

  • Osun Monarchs Appeal to Adeleke Over Alleged Plot to Reverse Their Elevation

Two newly elevated traditional rulers in Osun State have raised concerns over a purported attempt by officials of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters to revoke their appointments.

The monarchs—Olokeolooru Obalufon of Okeolooru Obalufon, Oba Adebisi Mukaila Michael, and Onirante of Irante, Oba Ogundele Olasunkanmi Mathew—were elevated to Part II Obas by Governor Ademola Adeleke during the state executive council meeting on Friday, September 12, 2025, according to a letter from their counsel, Sulaiman Akano.

Before their elevation, the two monarchs served as community chiefs (Baale) under the Akinfin Traditional Council in Boluwaduro Local Government. Reports indicate that each monarch paid N500,000 to cover the presentation of their staff of office and instrument of appointment.

However, a few days after receiving their appointment letters and staff of office, the monarchs were allegedly informed of a plan by some ministry officials to reverse their elevation.

In a letter dated September 23, addressed to the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, their counsel urged Governor Adeleke to intervene and prevent any attempt to annul the appointments.

    The letter stated in part:

“After our clients were duly screened and cleared by both the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, approved their elevation to Part II (Recognised Status) under the Chief’s Law (Cap. 25) Laws of Osun State 2002 during the EXCO meeting held on September 12, 2025.
Our clients received appointment letters on September 15 and were presented with their staff of office on September 16. The elevation was gazetted in the Osun State of Nigeria Gazette on September 18, 2025.”

The letter further alleged that the Oluresi of Iresi is conspiring with some ministry officials to reverse the appointments. The counsel warned that such a move could spark unrest between the affected communities.

“The appointment and elevation of our clients were well received by their communities. Any attempt to reverse the appointments could trigger communal tension. We appeal to your office to caution and restrain the Oluresi of Iresi and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs from taking such action,” the letter added.

The counsel emphasized that the monarchs are prepared to take legal action against anyone involved in the alleged conspiracy if the matter is not addressed.

Attempts to reach Barr. Dosu Babatunde, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

Osun Monarchs Appeal to Adeleke Over Alleged Plot to Reverse Their Elevation Two newly elevated traditional rulers in Osun State have raised concerns over a purported attempt by officials of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters to revoke their appointments. The letter stated in part: “After our clients were duly screened and cleared by both the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, approved their elevation to Part II (Recognised Status) under the Chief’s Law (Cap. 25) Laws of Osun State 2002 during the EXCO meeting held on September 12, 2025. Our clients received appointment letters on September 15 and were presented with their staff of office on September 16. The elevation was gazetted in the Osun State of Nigeria Gazette on September 18, 2025.” The letter further alleged that the Oluresi of Iresi is conspiring with some ministry officials to reverse the appointments. • Renewed Hope Ambassadors Back Tinubu for 2027, Say South East Ready to Deliver Massive Votes

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors have declared their confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, citing his economic reforms and governance agenda as key drivers of nationwide support.

According to a Vanguard report on Monday, September 29, 2025, the group made its position known in a joint statement issued by its coordinators across the five South East states.

They argued that Tinubu’s policies are gaining popularity across Nigeria, stressing that his achievements would make his re-election “certain.”

The statement was released ahead of the President’s planned visit to the South East as part of activities marking the 10th anniversary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in power. During the visit, Tinubu is expected to hold a meeting with leaders in Owerri, the Imo State capital, and commission projects completed by Governor Hope Uzodinma, chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.

The South East coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors include Chief Henry Ikoh (Abia), Chief Okey Ezenwa (Anambra), Barrister Kelechi Igwe (Ebonyi), Barrister George Ogara (Enugu), and Rt. Hon. Opiah Goodluck (Imo).

They described the visit as an opportunity for the President to strengthen ties with the region and witness firsthand the growing support for his administration.

Praising Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the group said his reforms are boosting confidence among Nigerians both at home and abroad. They also lauded Governor Uzodinma’s developmental strides, saying they reflect the President’s vision for progress.

The group pledged total support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition, assuring that the South East is prepared to vote “massively” for him in 2027. They argued that doing so would help the region secure a fairer share of national resources and infrastructure.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure a landslide victory in the 2027 presidential election. The South East wants to vote massively for him to ensure equitable distribution of resources and infrastructure. This is a cause to which we are totally committed, and we will continue to work hard under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodinma to guarantee victory not only in the South East but across the country,” the statement concluded.

  • Ambode Comeback Crusaders Urge APC to Consider Former Governor for 2027 Lagos Governorship Race

A political support group known as the Ambode Comeback Crusaders has appealed to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

In a letter dated September 28, 2025, and addressed to the APC National Chairman as well as the Lagos State Chairman, the group’s convener, Abiodun Fashola, highlighted Ambode’s achievements during his tenure from 2015 to 2019. He noted that Lagos recorded significant progress under Ambode’s administration in areas such as road infrastructure, transportation reforms, and healthcare delivery.

Fashola described Ambode as a technocrat whose expertise in finance helped consolidate Lagos’s reputation as Nigeria’s economic hub. He added that Ambode governed with inclusivity, encouraging dialogue with citizens and maintaining close engagement with stakeholders across different sectors.

“As deliberations continue on the party’s choice of candidate, I urge the leadership to reflect on the long-term benefits of giving Ambode another opportunity. His track record and progressive vision align with APC’s ideals,” the letter partly read.

The Crusaders argued that Ambode’s return would not only revive Lagos’s development blueprint but also demonstrate the APC’s commitment to fairness and internal democracy. They emphasized that a second term would allow him to complete abandoned projects and restore confidence among Lagosians who desire continuity in governance.

Copies of the letter were reportedly sent to key figures including President Bola Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, House of Representatives Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat.

Ambode, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, served one term as Lagos governor before losing the APC primary ticket in 2018 to Sanwo-Olu. Since leaving office in 2019, he has kept a low political profile. However, renewed calls such as this suggest that momentum may be building around a possible comeback.

Political observers note that while Ambode’s administration was applauded for bold infrastructural projects, some party stakeholders at the time criticized him for being “distant from the grassroots.” His supporters, however, maintain that his technocratic style positioned Lagos as a model of urban governance.

With the 2027 election approaching, analysts believe Ambode’s possible candidacy could test the APC’s ability to balance loyalty, performance, and strategy in Lagos—Nigeria’s commercial nerve center and a key power base for the party.

For many Lagos residents, the debate goes beyond politics. Supporters point to his reforms in transport, healthcare, and infrastructure as initiatives that directly improved daily life, insisting that his return would rekindle policies that accelerated the state’s urban growth.

Whether the APC leadership will act on the appeal remains uncertain, but the growing advocacy underscores Ambode’s continuing relevance in Lagos politics.

  • Okikiola Layi-Balogun Denies Housebreaking Allegations, Says Tenant’s Claims Are False

Mr. Okikiola Layi-Balogun, son of the late presidential aspirant under the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), Architect Olayiwola Osuolale Balogun, has dismissed allegations of housebreaking and theft leveled against him by his former tenant, Mr. Adekunle Taiwo.

Speaking on Monday, September 29, 2025, Layi-Balogun described the allegations as false, malicious, and intended to damage his reputation.

The matter, which is before Magistrate R.A. Richard at the Iyaganku Magistrate Court in Ibadan, concerns a property located at Old Bodija, a house built by his late father and where he was raised. He explained that Taiwo, who had occupied the boy’s quarters of the property since 2015, had a history of disputes with neighbors and never fully recognized him as landlord.

According to Layi-Balogun, Taiwo’s claims are an attempt to compel an out-of-court settlement and extort millions of naira. He said the case has placed him under years of unnecessary pressure, affected his family’s name, and cost him job opportunities as the allegations lingered.

“This matter has left a permanent scar on my life,” he said. “I grew up in that house; it is my family home. I am innocent of all the accusations, and all I seek is justice and the restoration of my good name.”

He expressed gratitude for finally having the opportunity to present his side of the story, insisting that the accusations were baseless and unfairly designed to malign him.
