FG intensifies efforts to track remote workers & undeclared foreign assets; Signs Data-Sharing Deal with 100+ Countries.
The Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy & Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele has revealed that Nigeria has entered into agreements with more than 100 countries to track the income of remote workers & citizens with undeclared assets abroad.
Speaking at a webinar hosted by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Wednesday, themed “Simplifying Nigeria’s Tax System,” Oyedele said the initiative aims to enforce compliance in the growing digital economy.
“Whether you earn from Google or a company in the Bahamas, you must declare your income yourself,” he said. “If you fail, the system will gather intelligence once the money hits your account.”
He added that Nigeria already receives financial data from countries including the U.S., U.K., Canada & UAE under the Common Reporting Standards (CRS). This allows authorities to monitor citizens holding foreign bank accounts or properties.
Oyedele also discussed Nigeria’s engagement with global tech companies to ensure they remit Value Added Tax (VAT) on services provided in the country.
“If a local shop selling phones charges VAT, online platforms shouldn’t get a free pass. We engaged them collaboratively, and today Nigeria earns billions from digital taxes without confrontation,” he said.
Addressing public concerns about the new Capital Gains Tax (CGT) framework, Oyedele clarified that the law, which takes effect January 1, 2026, will not be applied retroactively. A cost basis reset and grandfathering clause ensure that only profits made after 2026 will be taxed.
He further acknowledged minor errors in the recently gazetted tax legislation regarding turnover thresholds, clarifying that the correct exemption threshold is ₦100 million.
“The regulations will reflect this correction,” Oyedele said, urging Nigerians to comply voluntarily to avoid presumptive assessments.FG intensifies efforts to track remote workers & undeclared foreign assets; Signs Data-Sharing Deal with 100+ Countries. “We Never Knew She Was Sick” — Brother of Late Gospel Singer Aduke Gold Reveals Emotional Details About Her Death
The heartbreaking story surrounding the death of late gospel singer Moronkola Aduke Ajayi, fondly known as Aduke Gold, has taken a new turn as her brother, Pastor Engineer Ebunoluwa Oluyemi Noah, opened up about the painful truth behind her passing.
In an emotional interview on Talk To B Podcast on Friday, October 17, 2025, Noah revealed that the family only learned the true cause of Aduke’s death — cervical cancer — after receiving her death certificate.
“I challenged her manager, Mayowa. How come? What caused Aduke’s death?” he recounted. “He didn’t even open up. He only said she was feeling somehow and was moved from one hospital to another — from Begger to LASUTH. It was when I saw the death certificate that I knew it was cervical cancer.”
Noah expressed shock that no one in the family or her close circle knew about her illness. “Aduke was going through all this and nobody was aware. Honestly, nobody knew she had cervical cancer,” he said tearfully.
He described Aduke as a lively and cheerful person, noting that she appeared healthy even after returning from the UK. “She was getting fatter; there were no signs at all,” he added.
According to him, the gospel singer had undergone two chemotherapy sessions and was preparing for the third before her tragic passing. “The day she died, they said she took ginger and garlic, which triggered internal bleeding. Before they could help her, she didn’t make it,” Noah explained.
The revelation has left fans and colleagues heartbroken, sparking renewed conversations about early detection and awareness of cervical cancer among women.
Rest in peace, Aduke Gold — your voice may be gone, but your songs and legacy will live forever.💔 “We Never Knew She Was Sick” — Brother of Late Gospel Singer Aduke Gold Reveals Emotional Details About Her Death The heartbreaking story surrounding the death of late gospel singer Moronkola Aduke Ajayi, fondly known as Aduke Gold, has taken a new turn as her brother, Pastor Engineer Ebunoluwa Oluyemi Noah, opened up about the painful truth behind her passing. FG to begin vetting ALL teachers for criminal record.
The federal government has unveiled a new framework to vet and verify the criminal records of all teachers in both public and private schools nationwide.
The National Orientation Agency, in a statement confirming the policy on Tuesday, said the move is expected to prevent impersonation, forgery, and the employment of unqualified staff in schools.
It said the initiative, led by Tunji Alausa, the minister of education, aims to “restore professionalism and accountability” in the education sector by ensuring only people of “sound moral character” are entrusted with educating students.
The NOA said the policy, dubbed the Teacher Ethics and Criminal Record Verification Framework, will be integrated into the existing digital portal of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
The move, it added, will enable real-time registration, licensing, and monitoring of teachers.
Ronke Soyombo, the TRCN registrar, highlighted additional features of the digital portal.
The platform, she said, will not only enhance the quality of teachers but will also include AI-powered lesson planning tools and state-level investigation panels to handle disciplinary issues.
Nigeria’s education system has long faced significant challenges, including a lack of qualified teachers, inadequate infrastructure, and poor funding.

Man Says That The World Will End On December 25th And Begins Construction Of An Ark
My people World wan end oh.
A Ghanaian man named EboNoah has prophesied that the world will end on December 25, 2025. He explained that he received a message from God to prepare for a great flood by building an ark.
The wooden structure, which he says is about 80% complete, is meant to protect him, some selected people, and pairs of animals when disaster comes. In videos shared online, he showed the ark under construction and a few animals that he claims appeared on their own as proof of his prophecy.
Responding to those who laugh at him, he said it will be like the time of the biblical Noah, who was mocked but later proven right when the flood came.

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Kebbi State has warned communities along River Goronyo and River Niger to relocate immediately, citing imminent flooding risks following the planned release of water from nearby dams.
Assistant Director of Media, Larai Saminu Nazo, said the release is a safety measure to preserve dam structures but will significantly raise river levels, threatening low-lying communities.
She stressed that the directive must be taken seriously, urging residents to cooperate with local authorities and follow evacuation plans. The agency said it is working with emergency and river basin authorities to ensure affected communities receive support.
“Timely relocation now can avert disaster,” Nazo added.

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has issued a stern ultimatum to cultists, kidnappers, and ritualists to vacate the state or face the full weight of the law.

Gov Okpebholo Orders Cultists, Others To Vacate Edo.
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has directed cultists, kidnappers and criminal elements to immediately leave the state or face the full weight of the law.
The directive followed the demolition of a building in Egbaen Community in Egor local government area, which was used as a base for cult initiation rites and ritual practices.
The operation was carried out by the Edo State Special Security Squad codenamed “Operation Flush Out Cultists and Kidnappers”, working in concert with various security agencies and community stakeholders.
Coordinator of the Security Squad, Idemudia Noah confirmed that the building was linked to one Marvelous Adetarami, a leader of the Maphite cult group who had converted the bungalow into a shrine and meeting point for illegal activities.
“We were here some days ago to seal up this building following allegations of cultism, ritual practices and other nefarious activities of suspected Maphite cult leader Marvelous Adetarami and his members,” Idemudia told journalists at the scene.
He disclosed that despite sealing the premises earlier, intelligence reports confirmed that the suspects resumed their clandestine operations under the cover of darkness.
“We got credible information that the suspected cult leader Marvellous Adetarami and his members still gathered to have their meetings in this sealed bungalow, where the horrible shrine was discovered,” he revealed.
Residents of the area applauded the government’s swift action, expressing relief that a major source of insecurity in the community had finally been neutralised.

Banks to Flag Transactions Above ₦5m Monthly Under New Tax Law—Effective from 2026.
Starting in 2026, Nigerian banks will be required to report all customer accounts with monthly transactions exceeding ₦5 million to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and other tax authorities, as part of sweeping new tax reforms under the 2025 Tax Reform Act.
Announced by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the directive is aimed at improving tax compliance, curbing financial irregularities, and aligning Nigeria’s fiscal policies with international standards.
The new rule, anchored in Section 30 of the Act, places commercial banks at the center of a renewed push for financial transparency. According to the NOA, this monthly reporting requirement is part of broader efforts to ensure that taxable income, particularly from high-value and informal sector transactions, is captured within the tax system.
In addition to the transaction monitoring directive, the Act introduces several relief measures for low- and middle-income earners.
Notably, the threshold for personal income tax exemption has been raised from ₦500,000 to ₦800,000 annually (about ₦66,667 monthly), offering more protection to those struggling with rising living costs.
The reforms also bring new tax exemptions: Capital gains from the sale of a primary residence will no longer be taxed.
Compensation of up to ₦10 million for job loss, injury, or defamation will be exempt from taxation. A new VAT sharing formula will also take effect from 2026:
• Federal Government: 10% (reduced from 15%)
• State Governments: 55% (up from 50%), distributed as follows: 50% equally, 20% by population, 30% by consumption
• Local Governments: 35% (unchanged) Experts have welcomed the reforms, describing them as a strategic move to broaden Nigeria’s tax base without putting additional pressure on low-income citizens.
Analysts believe the focus on high-value transactions and a consumption-based VAT distribution model signals a shift toward a more equitable and transparent tax system.Banks to Flag Transactions Above ₦5m Monthly Under New Tax Law—Effective from 2026. JUST IN: NOA Slams Sarkin Mota Over Viral Car Video — “This Can Trigger Desperation”
In a surprising twist, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has issued a cautionary message to popular skit maker and influencer Sarkin Mota over a recent video in which he questioned whether civil servants could afford a luxury car he showcased. According to the NOA, such content could potentially spark “get-rich-at-all-cost” mindsets among young Nigerians.
In the viral clip, Sarkin Mota is seen admiring an expensive car and sarcastically asking whether civil servants—who represent a large segment of Nigeria’s working population—could genuinely afford such a vehicle. While some viewers saw the post as satire highlighting income disparity, the NOA saw a deeper issue.
The agency argued that videos like these can undermine national values by encouraging “corrupt or illegal shortcuts to wealth.” In a formal notice, it expressed concern that such portrayals could fuel societal pressure, envy, and reckless ambition, especially among Nigerian youth already grappling with economic hardship.
Online, reactions have been mixed.
Some Nigerians agree with the NOA, saying the video glamorizes wealth without context and could breed unhealthy comparisons. Others argue that influencers like Sarkin Mota are simply reflecting the harsh realities of Nigeria’s economy and expressing frustration through humor.
“Is it not the truth?” one commenter wrote. “We all know civil servants can’t afford such cars without side hustles or something shady. Why pretend?”
Another added: “Instead of going after comedians, the NOA should address the real issue — poor remuneration and accountability.”
