  • Wike: With Eleven Microphones, He Attempts A Denial Of What He Said With No Microphone — Dino Melaye.

Former federal lawmaker Senator Dino Melaye has publicly ridiculed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, after sharing a video clip of the minister’s recent interview on his verified Instagram page. The post, uploaded on Friday, November 14, 2025, captures Wike addressing the controversy surrounding his confrontation with a naval officer during an enforcement operation linked to an alleged land grab in Abuja.

Melaye accompanied the video clip with a pointed caption: “With Eleven microphones, he attempts a denial of what he said with no microphone. Spirit of error na shege.”

The video shows Wike defending his actions and clarifying comments he made during the incident. He insisted that his conscience guided his response during the confrontation: “My conscience will not allow me. If I’m enforcing rules order to other people then I’m going to say this man, don’t go there because he was former naval officer. Nobody does that. So those who are writing, who are talking junks, go and find out what really happened.”

Wike also addressed widespread claims that he insulted the military or referred to the naval officer as a “fool.” He said; “Some people say I said the boy is a fool and what I meant was this. You cannot be carrying out an illegal order. That’s what I said. I didn’t say the military is a fool. I couldn’t have said that. I don’t remember. I know the role of the military. The role they have been playing in this country. What they have passed through in fact is just terrorism. There’s nobody.”

The minister emphasised his longstanding support for security agencies: “And I’ve always given my support to security agencies. As I came as FCT minister, go and see their security agencies. Go and see what I provided for them to fight and do their work.” He further questioned why he would undermine the same institutions he has equipped: “So if I knew that, why would I say military? It’s not true. But you, what you are doing, you are not doing what you are taught as an officer.”

Wike compared the officer’s conduct to misconduct within academia: “You may find that an officer does nothing that if you do, what’s wrong? It’s like a professor in the university who will not allow young girls to rest or will not allow them to bring money for this and that. Then when I see that professor, I will tell that professor, you are not supposed to be a professor at all.”

  • Our Moral Fabrics Is Gone,We Honor Thieves”Melaye Says,Shares Photo Of FIFA Stadium In Kebbi,Kenya.

Former lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) government over what he described as a glaring case of mismanagement involving FIFA’s $1.2 million grant meant for sports development in Nigeria.

In a post shared on his X handle (formerly Twitter), Melaye compared a stadium reportedly built in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, with another constructed in Kenya. Both facilities were said to have been funded by FIFA with identical grants of $1.2 million to support football infrastructure across African nations.

“FIFA gave Nigeria $1.2 million and they gave Kenya $1.2 million. The goal was for both of them to build stadiums for football development. Our moral fabrics is gone, we celebrate rogues, we honor thieves. Up APC,” Melaye wrote.

Images shared by the former senator showed the Kenyan project as a modern, well-equipped football stadium with standard seating and professional facilities. In stark contrast, the Nigerian version appeared as a small, underdeveloped mini-stadium with limited infrastructure, a situation that has stirred widespread outrage on social media.

Melaye’s post has triggered a flurry of reactions, with many Nigerians demanding answers from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Ministry of Sports on how the FIFA funds were expended. Critics argued that the difference between the two projects reflects deeper corruption and poor accountability in public spending.

  • Presidential Clemency: Tinubu Pardoned 70 Drug Lords – Dino Melaye Alleges.

According to get a report by Daily Post, former Kogi senator, Dino Melaye, has alleged thar President Bola Tinubu of included about 70 convicted drug offenders among the 175 persons recently granted presidential clemency.

The allegation, shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, has sparked controversy over the nature and scope of the president’s latest pardon exercise.

Melaye described the action as “unprecedented in history,” insisting that no administration in the world had ever pardoned such a large number of convicted drug traffickers. “Pardon granted 70 drug lords by President Tinubu is unprecedented in history. My advice to the President is to scrap the NDLEA. His action has made a beautiful nonsensical of all the efforts of the agency since inception,” he wrote.

President Tinubu recently approved the release or posthumous pardon of 175 individuals as part of his administration’s effort to promote reconciliation and decongest correctional facilities.

The list included prominent names such as the late environmental activist Ken Saro-Wiwa, nationalist Herbert Macaulay, and former military officer Major General Mamman Vatsa, who was executed for treason in 1986. Also listed was Maryam Sanda, who had been sentenced to death for killing her husband, Bilyamin Bello.

The presidency framed the gesture as part of broader national healing, aimed at righting perceived historical wrongs and showing compassion. But critics say the clemency exercise lacked transparency and may have rewarded people convicted of serious crimes.

Melaye’s claim that dozens of drug traffickers were among those pardoned has heightened public concern. The former federal lawmaker did not name the allegedly pardoned drug Lords and the claim has not been verified.

Notwithstanding, following the allegations, some Nigerians warn that such a move could demoralize anti-narcotics agencies. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has been praised internationally in recent years for its intensified war on drug cartels, with several high-profile convictions recorded.

  • Dino Melaye Slams Tinubu’s Borrowing Strategy, Warns Government Could Turn to Local Fintechs

Former Senator Dino Melaye has launched a sharp critique of President Bola Tinubu’s borrowing practices, warning that the administration’s financial recklessness could soon extend to Nigerian fintech companies like Opay and Moniepoint.

Speaking on ARISE Television on Monday, September 8, 2025, Melaye questioned how a government that claims to be tackling wasteful spending continues to accumulate debt while making luxury purchases. He asked:

“Why is the president borrowing $1.7 billion from the World Bank? Why has the Senate approved $21 billion so far, with many others pending?”

Melaye also condemned recent extravagant expenditures by the administration, highlighting the acquisition of a yacht—which reportedly ferries between Monaco and Paris rather than operating in Nigerian waters—and the purchase of a presidential jet, criticizing such spending amid economic hardship and widespread hunger.

Describing the administration as “one of the most reckless governments in the history of this country,” Melaye argued that excessive borrowing undermines its reformist message:

“If you are making more money, then why are you borrowing? We will not be surprised if the president starts borrowing from Opay and Moniepoint very soon.”

His comments reflect growing concern over Nigeria’s rising public debt and raise questions about the government’s borrowing priorities. The suggestion that local fintechs could become a source of government funding underscores broader worries about fiscal sustainability and economic governance in the country.

  • Sen. Dino Melaye Faces N509.6m Tax Evasion Charge.

Former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, has been summoned before a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Magistrate Court over alleged evasion of more than N509.6 million in personal income tax.

According to filings, the FCT Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) assessed Melaye’s tax liabilities at N234.9 million for 2023 and N274.7 million for 2024, but said he failed to make the payments.

The agency also accused him of underpaying taxes between 2019 and 2022. Records show he declared incomes ranging from N1.25 million to N6.54 million in those years but remitted far less — for example, only N85,000.08 in 2019 and N100,000.08 in 2020.

A criminal summons dated August 21, 2025, compels his appearance at the Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone II, Abuja, on September 5, 2025. The FCT-IRS said it issued a notice of best judgment assessment on June 23 after Melaye failed to respond to an administrative assessment, later pasting the notice on his Maitama residence.

The Service stated: “Despite reminders and ample time provided, your non-compliance with Section 41 of the Act constitutes a breach of your obligations.

Consequently, the FCT-IRS has proceeded to raise a Best of Judgment Assessment in respect of your tax liabilities for the years under review.” Under the Personal Income Tax Act (PITA) 2011, failure to file returns or under-declaring income attracts fines, recovery of unpaid liabilities, and possible criminal proceedings.

If the court upholds the FCT-IRS claims, Melaye may face not only repayment of N509.6 million but also additional liabilities for 2020–2022, penalties, and interest charges. Melaye, a former Senate Committee on FCT chairman and PDP’s candidate in the November 2023 Kogi governorship election, could not be reached for comment as of Wednesday.

  • Coalition Will Collapse by September Sole ADC Reps Member Drops Fresh Hint.

The sole House of Representatives member on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Leke Abejide, has predicted that the opposition coalition formed around the party will collapse by September.

Abejide, who represents Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, said the coalition’s failure to secure a single seat in the August 16 by-elections signalled the beginning of its end.

“The coalition collapsed last Saturday; across the country, they could not even win one seat. That was the beginning of the end. By early next month, the coalition will collapse completely,” Abejide said while appearing on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief programme on Friday.

He argued that the group’s attempt to “hijack” the ADC would not succeed, stressing that he remained the “landlord” of the party.

“I didn’t establish the party, but I am the one who kept it alive. I have never defected to a big party. I used the ADC to contest all my elections and also brought others into both the National Assembly and state assembly,” he added.

The lawmaker maintained that key coalition leaders had no roots in the ADC. According to him, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra governor Peter Obi were never members of the party. He noted that while former Senate President David Mark and former Osun governor Rauf Aregbesola have joined the ADC, they held no leadership roles.

In July, the coalition had adopted the ADC as its political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections, naming Mark as interim chairman and Aregbesola as national secretary.

Other prominent members include former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Rivers governor Rotimi Amaechi, Senator Dino Melaye, former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalong, former Benue governor Gabriel Suswam, and publisher Dele Momodu.

  • Dino Melaye Quits PDP, Alleges APC Infiltration

Former Senator Dino Melaye has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of infiltrating and weakening the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing it as no longer a viable opposition.

Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, Melaye, who recently defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said the PDP has become a “parastatal of the APC,” claiming its decisions are influenced directly from the Presidential Villa.

He criticised PDP governors for failing to act like opposition leaders and alleged that those remaining in the party are “holding fort” for the ruling APC.

Defending his defection, Melaye cited the PDP’s inability to challenge the political status quo, saying, “We live in precarious times.”

He expressed optimism that the ADC would provide a credible platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027, but added that he won’t support any presidential aspirant until the party is fully stabilised and holds a transparent convention.

  • 2027: ADC Will Field Candidate to Unseat Tinubu – Dino Melaye

Abuja, August 1, 2025 – Former Kogi senator Dino Melaye says the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is poised to field a strong presidential candidate to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Speaking on Channels TV's Politics Today, Melaye described the ADC as a "national altar call" for Nigerians driven by conscience and a desire for change. He stressed that the party is focused on stabilizing its structure and holding a transparent convention before backing any specific candidate.

“ADC is a national altar call. Not everyone in the party is a saint, but everyone here is concerned about Nigeria,” Melaye said.

His remarks come after a high-profile opposition coalition meeting on July 2 at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, where the ADC was adopted as a unifying platform to challenge the ruling APC.

At the meeting, ADC founder Ralph Nwosu presented membership cards to former Senate President David Mark and ex-Osun Governor Rauf Aregbesola, named interim national chairman and secretary, respectively.

Prominent politicians in attendance included Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, Ireti Kingibe, Dele Momodu, and Emeka Ihedioha.#ADC2027 #NigeriaDecides #OppositionUnity #DinoMelaye

Giving instances, the ex-lawmaker said, he is friends with the former Senate president, Bukola Saraki but never supported his presidential ambition.

His words, “Bukola Saraki is my friend and still my friend; he ran for presidency and I didn’t support him and that did not have any negative concomitant effect on our friendship.
