President Bola Tinubu has reportedly distributed luxury vehicles — including a Toyota Land Cruiser, Hilux, and Hummer bus — to state coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a nationwide political mobilisation group led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma. • Tinubu Set to Appoint New Ambassadors Amid Rising Diplomatic Tension with the U.S.

President Bola Tinubu is putting finishing touches to the appointment of new ambassadors to Nigeria’s foreign missions after months of vacancies and growing diplomatic concerns, especially following recent tensions with the United States.

Presidency sources confirmed that the President has ordered a “final cleanup” of the ambassadorial list to replace nominees who have died, retired, or withdrawn from consideration. The updated list is expected to be released soon after final verification.

This comes two years after Tinubu recalled all ambassadors from Nigeria’s 109 foreign missions in what was described as a comprehensive diplomatic review. Since then, most embassies have been headed by chargés d’affaires or senior consular officers with limited powers to represent Nigeria in high-level engagements.

Officials believe the new appointments will help restore Nigeria’s diplomatic visibility and strengthen communication with international partners, particularly amid the recent friction with the U.S. triggered by former President Donald Trump’s remarks. Trump had threatened possible U.S. military action in Nigeria over alleged killings of Christians, comments that stirred widespread concern in Abuja.

According to sources, the absence of ambassadors has slowed Nigeria’s ability to respond promptly to sensitive international matters. “Having ambassadors in place will help Nigeria engage more effectively, especially in times of tension,” one official said.

Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar is expected to meet President Tinubu at the State House to finalise the list. An official announcement of the new ambassadorial appointments is anticipated in the coming days.

  • ADC Slams Tinubu Over Rising Insecurity As Trump Threatens U.S. Military Action In Nigeria

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has sharply criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, saying the worsening insecurity across Nigeria has now drawn global concern following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments.

Trump had, on October 31, 2025, named Nigeria a “country of particular concern” and threatened to deploy American troops if what he described as “the persecution of Christians” continued.

In a statement signed by Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, the party said Trump’s declaration was a reflection of Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation and the government’s failure to protect its citizens.

“We are guided by the painful reality that what is really at stake are thousands of human lives lost to insecurity in Nigeria — irrespective of tribe, religion, or region,” the ADC stated.

The party added that the U.S. President’s remarks serve as a reminder of the global expectation for leaders to safeguard their citizens.

“The statement by President Trump reminds us of the sanctity of human life and the core responsibility of every government to protect its people,” Abdullahi said.

The ADC accused Tinubu’s government of allowing insecurity to worsen, citing reports that nearly 15,000 Nigerians have been killed since June 2023.

“The crisis we face today is no longer regional or religious — it is a national existential threat that endangers all Nigerians,” the statement warned.

The party also condemned the administration for failing to appoint ambassadors two years into office, calling the excuse of “lack of funds” unacceptable for a government that boasts of increased revenue.

It further proposed urgent policy actions including:

A total overhaul of Nigeria’s security architecture

Appointment of ambassadors and foreign policy reset

Targeted economic reforms to curb inflation

    Depoliticisation of public institutions

While rejecting Trump’s threat of military intervention, the ADC urged the U.S. and other global partners to offer institutional support instead.

“Mobilising armed troops or even issuing threats would do more harm than good. Nigeria is not beyond saving, but time is running out,” the statement concluded.

  • Sen Orji Uzor Kalu Declares Himself Most Important Politician in South-East, Says Peter Obi Can’t Match His Record.

Former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, has declared that he remains the most important political figure from the South-East, dismissing Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as less influential.

Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, Kalu asserted that his political record and achievements far outweigh Obi’s.

“He (Obi) is not my leader. I am the most important politician from that zone,” Kalu said confidently. “I have won two states under the PPA, contested for president in 2007, and secured 4.9 million votes. Under President Yar’Adua, we had ministers, ambassadors, and other key appointments through our party.”

On his political future, Kalu said age would not stop him from running for president if the opportunity arises, drawing parallels with former U.S. President Donald Trump.

“If I’m healthy and God grants me life, I can still contest. It’s not about age; it’s about competence , what’s in my brain and what I can deliver,” he stated.

When asked if he believes the Igbo nation should unite behind Obi in future elections, Kalu declined to endorse the Labour Party leader.

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors have declared their confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, citing his economic reforms and governance agenda as key drivers of nationwide support.

According to a Vanguard report on Monday, September 29, 2025, the group made its position known in a joint statement issued by its coordinators across the five South East states.

They argued that Tinubu’s policies are gaining popularity across Nigeria, stressing that his achievements would make his re-election “certain.”

The statement was released ahead of the President’s planned visit to the South East as part of activities marking the 10th anniversary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in power. During the visit, Tinubu is expected to hold a meeting with leaders in Owerri, the Imo State capital, and commission projects completed by Governor Hope Uzodinma, chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.

The South East coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors include Chief Henry Ikoh (Abia), Chief Okey Ezenwa (Anambra), Barrister Kelechi Igwe (Ebonyi), Barrister George Ogara (Enugu), and Rt. Hon. Opiah Goodluck (Imo).

They described the visit as an opportunity for the President to strengthen ties with the region and witness firsthand the growing support for his administration.

Praising Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the group said his reforms are boosting confidence among Nigerians both at home and abroad. They also lauded Governor Uzodinma’s developmental strides, saying they reflect the President’s vision for progress.

The group pledged total support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition, assuring that the South East is prepared to vote “massively” for him in 2027. They argued that doing so would help the region secure a fairer share of national resources and infrastructure.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure a landslide victory in the 2027 presidential election. The South East wants to vote massively for him to ensure equitable distribution of resources and infrastructure. This is a cause to which we are totally committed, and we will continue to work hard under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodinma to guarantee victory not only in the South East but across the country,” the statement concluded.

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has declined an invitation by the U.S. Consulate in Nigeria for a visa reinterview scheduled for September 11.

“I would like to begin by stressing the fact that, for me, this is not a personal issue. I have no idea how you got to know. By the way, I also have received the letter, which at first I thought was a fake. I thought it was these scammers who sort of prey on those eager to get visas elsewhere, with promise to deliver visas for a certain amount guaranteed.”

“So, at the beginning, I thought it was advance fee fraud because I had never received that kind of letter from that or any other embassy. I thought that maybe AI has been generating generic letters. It was very strange.

So, by the time I came to terms with the fact that this letter is genuine, my mind just went to my relationship with individual ambassadors, Consul-Generals and Cultural Attachés. As you know, it’s always been a courteous relationship,” he explained.

“Sincerely, I have more important things to do than chase visas for places I don’t want to go to and where I am not wanted. So the question of going to such an interview is totally out of consideration.”

“In addition, I happen to be a little bit superstitious of being given a significant date, not just for the United States but the rest of the world. I’m talking about 9/11. This is a day which I have always considered very critical for the United States especially. To me, 9/11 should be regarded as a day of national mourning, of atonement by the Consulate of the United States.

“They should close down offices on that day, not to keep inviting people to come and have their visas taken away. It should be a day of reflection, of serious, deep thinking… If they don’t shut down, at least I would shut down my relationship with them on that day. Because I’m very superstitious. I’m not going anywhere near there on 9/11. I will be airborne somewhere,” Soyinka said.

“The United States, for instance, has a ‘white Idi Amin’ at the helm of affairs.”

  • Lawyer Sues FG, NCAA for N500bn Over Alleged Special Treatment of KWAM1.

Public interest lawyer Ayodele Ademiluyi has filed a N500 billion suit at the Federal High Court, Lagos, against the Federal Government, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and others over alleged breaches of the rule of law in two aviation incidents involving musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (Kwam 1) and passenger Ms. Comfort Emmanson.

The suit, FHC/L/CS/1632/25, lists the President, Attorney-General of the Federation, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo (SAN), NCAA, FAAN, Ibom Air, ValueJet, Nigerian Correctional Service, King Wasiu, Nigerian Police Force, Governor of Akwa Ibom, the state’s Attorney-General, and the Airline Operators of Nigeria as respondents.

Addressing journalists, Ademiluyi said the action aims to “enforce accountability and protect the public interest,” stressing that the matter “transcends the personalities involved” and reflects “systemic d£cay” in the aviation sector.

“Our aviation system needs a complete overhauling. We cannot allow impunity to reign or degenerate into a banana republic where someone can stop a plane with their bare hands and walk away without consequence,” he said.

He accused authorities of failing to arrest or prosecute Kwam 1 while Emmanson faced swift sanctions. “It’s a gross imbalance… In fact, he was rewarded with a brand ambassadorship for the aviation sector.

What message does that send to the public?” Ademiluyi argued that appointing Kwam 1 as ambassador “sends the wrong signal” and alleged that Minister Keyamo acted “as if speaking for one of the airlines rather than enforcing the law.”

On the Airline Operators of Nigeria’s handling of the Emmanson case, he said the body acted as “complainant, prosecutor and judge” in imposing — then reversing — a life ban. “The central issue remains: Mr. Kwam 1 is walking the streets free. That is a big sl+p on the rule of law.” He urged the judiciary to set a precedent “that no one, regardless of influence or status, is above the law.”

  • Super Falcons Captain Rasheedat Ajibade Says WAFCON Victory Rewards Still Unpaid

Super Falcons skipper Rasheedat Ajibade has revealed that the team is yet to receive the promised rewards for their historic win at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Despite a public pledge by the Nigerian government to gift each player $100,000, three-bedroom apartments, national honors, and additional donations from the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Ajibade confirmed:

    > “We’ve not received anything yet.”

The delay has sparked disappointment among fans and sports stakeholders who were eager to see the champions honored for clinching their 10th continental title.

Ajibade, however, remains optimistic, urging for sustained investment in women’s football to place Nigeria firmly on the global stage. She dedicated the team’s victory to every young Nigerian girl chasing her dreams and stressed the need for proper support to keep women’s sports thriving.

While the Super Falcons wait for the promises to be fulfilled, their commitment, resilience, and pride as ambassadors for Nigerian women in sports remain unshaken.

  • Ghanaian President John Mahama has assured Nigerians that there is no place for X+n@phobia in Ghana, reaffirming the country’s commitment to ECOWAS protocols on the free movement of people & goods.

Mahama gave the assurance while receiving a special envoy from President Bola Tinubu led by Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, at the Presidential Palace in Accra.

In a statement released by Dr. Magnus Eze, Special Assistant on Communication & New Media to the Minister, Mahama dismissed concerns over recent protests targeting Nigerians in Ghana. He urged President Tinubu not to worry, emphasizing the strong historic ties between both nations.

“Tell President Tinubu not to lose sleep. Nigeria & Ghana are brothers. We won’t let anything come between us,” Mahama said. He explained that a viral protest video circulating online was actually an old clip recorded over 10 years ago by a Nigerian resident in Ghana.

Though it briefly stirred tensions, Mahama clarified that fewer than 50 people were involved and the matter was promptly addressed.

The president guaranteed the safety of Nigerians and their businesses in Ghana, stressing that both countries must continue to foster unity and cooperation. Amb. Odumegwu-Ojukwu, on her part, appreciated President Mahama’s hospitality and reassurances.

She said the Nigerian government was deeply concerned about the safety of its citizens in Ghana following the video’s resurgence. She also revealed that the visit aimed to push for the establishment of a permanent Nigeria-Ghana Joint Commission.

According to her, the commission would tackle youth migration issues linked to unemployment, while also promoting responsible migration. “We encourage our youth to stay in Nigeria, and if they must migrate, to be good ambassadors,” she added.

  • Nigeria News‘We Are Not Criminals’ – FG Fires Ghanaians Protesting ‘Nigeria Must Go.

The Federal Government, through the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), has condemned the protest by Ghanaians calling on Nigerians to be deported from the West African country.

Naija News earlier reported that some Ghanaian citizens staged a protest against Nigerians, accusing them of engaging in mass prostitution, ritual killings, kidnapping, and violent crimes in their country.

In a viral video seen on Tuesday, the protesters, numbering in their hundreds, carried placards with inscriptions such as “Armed robbery and violent attacks must stop,” “Our health at stake due to mass prostitution,” “Nigerians are kidnapping and using people for rituals,” and “Our kids are getting missing because of Igbos.”

Reacting in a statement to Naija News, Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, NIDCOM, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, disclosed that Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO NIDCOM, said the blanket outrage against Nigerians living in Ghana and branding them as criminals should be condemned by all.

She said: “Nigerians are not criminals. They are good ambassadors wherever they find themselves while those bad ones should be fish out and face the necessary sanctions.

“Ghana and Nigeria are like siamese twins. They are brothers and such in the spirit of ECOWAS and regional integration should continue to live in peace like brothers.”

The NIDCOM Boss appealed for calm and urged Nigerians living in Ghana not to be provoked or go into violence with anyone as the issue is being handled at the diplomatic level.

She advised anyone using inciteful words to desist henceforth both from Nigerians and Ghanaians as that is capable of escalating the matter.

Dabiri-Erewa also advised Nigerians to disregard the videos circulating that Nigerians’ shops and properties are destroyed by Ghanaians.

“There is no evidence to that and we must at all cost prevent any reprisal attacks,” she said.

She praised Ghanaian and Nigeria High Commissioners for their efforts to control the situation, adding that the Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, has also been in touch with Ghanaian authorities and had taken some pro- active measures.
