• “Not My Decision!”: Governor Muftwang Washes Hands Off Wike, Fayose’s Expulsion from PDP

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Muftwang, has firmly dissociated himself from the expulsion of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, and several others from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement issued by Gyang Bere, his Director of Press and Public Affairs, the governor clarified that the issue was never discussed at the PDP Governors Forum nor at the National Executive Committee (NEC) before the motion was suddenly introduced.

The statement stressed that the expulsion move does not represent Governor Muftwang’s position, especially given the delicate state of the party.

    According to the release:

“Governor Mutfwang made it clear that the matter was neither discussed by the Governors Forum nor at the NEC before the motion was presented. The proposal does not reflect his stance.”

The governor emphasized that sacking key party leaders at such a critical time is not a strategic approach to resolving the PDP’s internal crisis.

He called instead for unity, dialogue, and collective effort to rebuild and reposition the party for the challenges ahead.

  • Henceforth, we will sue anyone who blames Fulanis for violence in Plateau Group warns.

A group under the umbrella of the Concerned Plateau Fulani Forum, CPFF, has vowed to institute legal actions against anyone including government and security agencies whenever they blame the Fulani people for the violence and killings in Plateau State.

The CPFF, blaming the Fulani people, especially herders for every act of violence in the state amounted to ethnic profiling with the aim of exterminating them or chasing them out of the state where they also belong.

In the statement signed by its Coordinator, Saleh Haruna, the Fulani group said it has noticed with dismay that anytime there is an attack anywhere in the state, government officials and security agencies are always quick to blame the Fulani whom they have given different names like ‘militias and bandits.’

Referencing the report by a fact-finding committee set up by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang to investigate the remote causes persistent attacks, killings, and destruction in the state where it was revealed that at least 450 communities across 13 Local Government Areas have been destroyed and left desolate while over 12,000 lives have been lost in two decades of violence spanning 2001 and 2025 perpetrated by Fulani militias, Haruna said the report was only aimed at blaming the Fulani herders without taking into consideration that they too have suffered losses of their people and their cattle which have been rustled in several communities across the state.

“We are not happy with the regular tagging of Fulani people as bandits, criminals and aggressors whenever there is violence or attacks in any part of Plateau State,” Haruna said in the strongly worded statement.

“It is becoming a pattern, and a dangerous one for that matter, that whenever there is an attack in the state, the government and security agencies are quick to identify the perpetrators as Fulani people.

“They do this without proper investigations to identify the real culprits, forgetting that our people have also suffered massive losses of lives and cattle that have been rustled over the years.

  • BREAKING: APC Names Nentawe Yilwatda as New National Chairman.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed the appointment of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, as the new National Chairman of the party.

The announcement was made during the NEC meeting ongoing at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.

Yilwatda sworn in as APC Chairman
The chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma, nominated him for the position. House of Representatives speaker, Abbas Tajudeen, seconded the motion.

Yilwatda’s emergence as the new National Chairman of the APC marks a deliberate return of the position to the North Central region, aligning with the party’s original zoning arrangement. Yilwatda hails from Plateau State and replaces Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the former Kano State governor, who recently resigned.

It is understood that the decision to appoint Yilwatda, a Christian from the North Central zone, is a strategy to address internal grievances, particularly over the continued dominance of a Muslim-Muslim leadership structure at the federal level, led by President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Simon Lalong, congratulates the new Chairman
Yilwatda is an loyalist of former Plateau State Governor and current Senator, Simon Lalong. He assumed the role of Minister of Humanitarian Affairs following Lalong’s resignation from the cabinet to return to the Senate. It can be recalled that the Court of Appeal overturned the earlier declared winner in the Plateau South Senatorial race.

Before his ministerial appointment, Yilwatda was the APC governorship candidate in Plateau State during the 2023 general elections but was defeated by the PDP’s Caleb Mutfwang. He also played a key role in the presidential campaign as the state coordinator for the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation.

  • Bandit Attacks: Plateau Govt Asks For Mobile Police, Demands Withdrawal Of Military.

The government has a result called for the deployment of mobile police personnel in the affected communities.
    Bandit Attacks
The Plateau State Government has condemned the military’s failure to protect communities that continue to suffer from frequent attacks by armed bandits.

The government has a result called for the deployment of mobile police personnel in the affected communities.

The state government also expressed concern over the activities of military personnel in the areas following recent attacks on villages in Riyom Local Government Area, where 27 persons were killed.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang had during a visit to the affected communities on Wednesday, blamed security personnel for failing to apprehend the perpetrators despite a checkpoint few meters from the scene of the attacks.

Also commenting on the development in a statement on Saturday, Prof. Chris Kwaja, Special Envoy on Peace and Security to the Governor, observed that the presence of soldiers has not yielded positive results with the continued attacks and killings of innocent civilians.

Kwaja called for the deployment of mobile policemen, whom the government believes are better equipped to tackle insecurity and restore sanity in the region.

Kwaja noted, “During the Tuesday night attack, the security forces, especially the Operation Safe Haven, a security tasks force maintaining peace in the state, failed to foil the attack despite their presence in the area.

“The attack was avoidable, given the early warning signs and intelligence reports.”

He said that the Federal Government should, as a matter of priority, consider withdrawing all military personnel deployed in flashpoints and replace them with Mobile Police Squads in order to ensure normalcy in the affected communities.

He opined that the change in approach is necessary to ensure a more effective and responsive security strategy.

  • Oluremi Tinubu Donates N1 Billion to Plateau Att+ck Victims, Says It Will Be Her Last.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated N1 billion to victims of recent att+ck in Plateau State—but made it clear that this will be her final such intervention.

On a condolence visit to the state, Senator Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the recurring v+olence, saying her heart breaks each time she hears of bl++dshed in any part of Nigeria.

She urged stakeholders in Plateau to work toward lasting peace, especially to protect women and children. “Women don’t f+ght. We don’t carry arms. We ask you, the men, to protect us and ensure our children grow up without fear,” she said. “This will be the last time I bring aid here. I want my next visit to Plateau to be for tourism, not tragedy.”

The First Lady emphasized that the N1 billion donation came from her personal resources, not government funds, through her Renewed Hope Initiative. She said her intention is to use what she has to uplift lives, not fuel greed.

“God will not be pleased with the bl++dshed on this blessed land,” she said, recalling her first visit to the state years ago and praising its natural beauty. She also mentioned her prayers for flood-affected states like Benue and Niger and pledged continued support to other distressed areas.

In response, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang thanked the First Lady for her generosity and assured her the funds would be used transparently to support the victims. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to restoring peace across the state.
