Wahala don enter Ijebu land as no fewer than 94 princes and one princess from the Fusengbuwa ruling house have declared interest in the vacant Awujale of Ijebuland stool in Ogun State. The throne became vacant following the death of Oba Sikiru Adetona on July 13, 2025, after a historic 65-year reign. The aspirants emerged during a nomination meeting held at Bisrod Hall, GRA, Ijebu Ode, presided over by family leaders and observed by local government officials. Notable contenders include Giwa Abiodun Onanuga, Dr Kunle Hassan, and Otunba Fatai Arowolo, while the only female aspirant is Princess Oluwakemi Onanuga, a lawyer. Family head Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi said the nomination process was peaceful and that the responsibility now rests with the kingmakers to choose the next monarch within a month.
