• Aisha Yesufu Calls for Sack of Tinubu’s Aide Over Mockery of Opposition Leaders

Renowned rights activist Aisha Yesufu has demanded the dismissal of Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, over his recent remarks mocking opposition leaders.

Onanuga had taken to X (formerly Twitter) to ridicule coalition figures including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, and others, following the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s victory in Saturday’s by-elections. In a taunting post directed at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its allies, he wrote:

    “How is the market now?”

Firing back, Yesufu condemned the statement as unbecoming of a presidential adviser.
    She wrote:

“I, Aisha Yesufu, as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and my Special Adviser on Information & Strategy puts out a message like this — he or she will be fired immediately! As Nigeria doesn’t currently have a President, anything goes! Poor Nigeria.”

Her comments have sparked fresh debate online about the tone of government officials and the line between political banter and state responsibility.

  • APC’s Basiru Denies Tinubu’s Alleged Endorsement of Soludo, Says Party Is Focused on Victory

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has debunked speculations that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has endorsed Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo for a second term.

Speaking with journalists, Basiru emphasized that Tinubu is too politically experienced to engage in anti-party activities, stressing that the president remains firmly behind the APC candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu.

    > “President Bola Tinubu does not engage in anti-party,” Basiru declared.

He also addressed concerns over the delay in unveiling the party’s campaign council barely three months before the Anambra governorship polls. According to him, the delay was due to the recently concluded legislative by-elections, which required the party’s full attention.

    > “Who says we are not enthusiastic? We are finalizing the council list and only paused to focus on last Saturday’s by-elections,” he explained.

Highlighting APC’s performance in recent polls, Basiru boasted that the party recorded victories in 12 states, including strongholds of opposition parties.

On APC’s struggles in Anambra, where Ukachukwu even lost in his ward, the party scribe maintained a calm stance:
    — “We take every election as it comes.”

  • By-Elections: Soludo Declares LP, ADC “Dead” In Anambra, Mocks Obi’s Coalition

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, says Saturday’s by-election results prove that the Labour Party (LP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) are “dead” in the state.

Speaking in Nanka during APGA’s victory celebration, Soludo taunted his predecessor Peter Obi — who backed ADC candidates — insisting that “ADC does not exist in Anambra. Labour Party is dead.”

In the Anambra South Senatorial District, APGA’s Emmanuel Nwachukwu won with 90,408 votes, defeating APC’s Azuka Okwuosa (19,847) and ADC’s Donald Amangbo (2,889). He replaces the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

INEC also declared APGA’s Ifeoma Azikiwe winner of the Onitsha North Constituency 1 by-election, Obi’s home constituency.

Soludo said the results sent “a very emphatic statement” that the ADC-LP alliance failed despite mobilizing top politicians.

The governor, a former CBN chief, is seeking re-election on November 8, 2025, under APGA.
