• BREAKING : Burkina Faso’s leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has issued a powerful statement that is already sparking intense debate across Africa and beyond.

“It’s not terror!sm, it’s imperialism. Their objective is to keep us in a permanent w@r, prevent us from developing, and continue to exploit our resources.”

Traoré’s words point to a deeper accusation — that insecurity in parts of Africa is being weapon!zed to weaken nations, stall development, and maintain control over natural resources. He also criticized some West African coastal leaders, accusing them of buying into these arrangements just to remain in power, even at the cost of regional sovereignty.

This statement adds fuel to growing conversations about foreign influence, resource control, and leadership choices in West Africa at a time when many citizens are demanding true independence and security.

Do you agree with Ibrahim Traoré — is insecurity in Africa about terror!sm, or is it something deeper?

  • BURKINA FASO PRESIDENT CAPT. IBRAHIM TRAORE RESPONDS TO ECOWAS

"When we cried out that hunger was ke-ee-ling our children in the Sahel, they turned a deaf ear.

When we screamed for help as thieves in white kaftans emptied our treasuries and fled with our wealth, they remained deaf.

When we demanded just a fair share of the gold, uranium, and lithium being carted away to build foreign cities while our villages had no light, they were stone deaf.

But the moment we finally stood up, dusted ourselves off, and said “Enough is enough! Once beaten, twice shy — never again will we be used,”
suddenly all those deaf ears began to hear perfectly.

Suddenly the big birds (the drones and warplanes) started circling our skies.
Suddenly ECOWAS remembered that the Sahel is, after all, an “indispensable part” of Africa.

What exactly do you gain by dragging us back into the misery we have already escaped?

They called the Sahel small and insignificant, yet from this “small” land rose a heart too big to be enslaved again.

The day Africa finally sees that the one who calls himself “friend” is actually the enemy,
that day her true redemption will begin”

  • Retired General Claims COAS Attahiru Was Assassinated in 2021 Kaduna Plane Explosion, Not Accident

Retired Major General Danjuma Ali-Keffi has alleged that the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru, was deliberately assassinated in the 2021 aircraft explosion that killed him and 10 others near Kaduna Airport. Speaking publicly, Ali-Keffi claimed the aircraft did not crash but exploded mid-air and that injuries on the victims suggested an internal blast. He linked the incident to internal military hostility, corruption, sabotage, leaked intelligence, and Attahiru’s ongoing forensic audit of Army funds. The retired general also alleged operational compromises, terror-financing within the military, and unresolved irregularities around the still-unreleased accident investigation report. He insists Attahiru was targeted due to his anti-corruption stance and conflicts with powerful figures.

  • Retired General Reveals Covert Nigerian Operation That Led to Boko Haram Leader Shekau’s Death

Retired Major General Danjuma Ali-Keffi has disclosed how a covert Nigerian military intelligence unit, Operation Service Wide (OSW), weakened Boko Haram and engineered the events leading to Abubakar Shekau’s death. He credited the late Brig. Gen. Abdulrahman Kuliya, former Chief of Military Intelligence, for infiltrating terror networks and sparking the ISWAP–Boko Haram conflict that ended Shekau’s reign. Ali-Keffi detailed how political interference, intelligence leaks, halted operations, and the deaths of top officers—including Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru—nearly sabotaged the mission. He further alleged internal sabotage, plots against him, and complicity of powerful officials in rising banditry driven by illegal mining interests. His revelations shed light on high-stakes power struggles, covert operations, and deep-rooted security challenges in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.

  • Thailand Launches Airstrikes on Cambodia as Border Clashes Escalate, Thousands Evacuated

Thailand has launched airstrikes on Cambodian military positions following renewed border clashes, marking the most serious escalation since last year’s U.S.-brokered ceasefire. One Thai soldier was killed and eight wounded as fighting intensified before dawn, prompting Bangkok to deploy air power after accusing Cambodia of moving heavy weapons forward. Cambodia denied firing back and accused Thailand of coordinated attacks. The conflict has triggered massive evacuations on both sides, with over 385,000 people moved in Thailand and more than 1,100 families displaced in Cambodia. ASEAN chair Anwar Ibrahim has warned that the violence threatens to unravel months of diplomatic progress aimed at stabilising the long-disputed 817km border.

  • Nigeria Targets Stronger Domestic Funding to Achieve Universal Health Coverage

The Nigerian government has announced plans to bolster domestic resource mobilization for healthcare as international grants and donor aid continue to decline, emphasizing the need for greater local ownership to attain Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Speaking at the 9th Annual Health Conference of the Association of Nigerian Health Journalists (ANHeJ), Dr. Salma Ibrahim Anas, Special Adviser to the President on Health, said sustainable financing must come primarily from within the country to ensure accountability and long-term progress.
    Key measures highlighted include:

    Strengthening the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF);

    Expanding financial protection mechanisms under the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Act;

Introducing innovative revenue streams, such as the Sugar-Sweetened Beverages (SSB) Tax.

Stakeholders at the conference stressed that state governments must take greater responsibility for health financing.

They renewed calls for states to meet the Abuja Declaration commitment of allocating at least 15% of their annual budgets to the health sector.
With external funding becoming increasingly unpredictable, experts warn that without urgent and substantial increases in domestic investment, Nigeria risks falling further behind on its UHC goals.

  • Gov. Buni Constructs Major Drainage Systems, Bridges to End Flooding in Damaturu

The Yobe State Government under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni,, has made remarkable progress in the construction of major bridges and drainage channels across Damaturu metropolis aimed at permanently addressing the problem of flooding while also supporting dry-season farming.

The large-scale project cuts across key parts of the state capital, stretching from Nasarawa through Nayi-Nawa, extending behind Shagari via Pompomari New Layout, and further beyond Waziri Ibrahim and Sumsumma, where floodwater is being redirected for the benefit of dry-season farmers in areas such as behind the High Court, Waziri Ibrahim, Sumsumma and adjoining communities.

So far, major milestones have been recorded with the completion of a bridge at Waziri Ibrahim Bypass, another at Pompomari New Layout, as well as the completion of one side of the Pilgrim Bridge along the Potiskum Road.

To ensure timely delivery, the construction company which is currently executing the project simultaneously in five different locations, including Waziri Bypass, where road rehabilitation and drainage construction are ongoing; the Buratai residence axis, where a major floodwater channel is being constructed; the Pilgrim area, where one side of the bridge is under construction; and Nasarawa, where large drainage infrastructure is also underway.

The project when completed will deliver enormous benefits to Damaturu and environs. It will significantly reduced the recurring menace of flooding, thereby protecting lives, homes, and public infrastructure from destruction.

By preventing floodwater from cutting off major roads, especially around the Waziri Ibrahim and Pompomari areas, the project will greatly enhanced the free flow of traffic and easing movement within the city.

In addition, the drainage system will preserved road networks from damage caused by stagnant water, while at the same time improving environmental sanitation by preventing waste accumulation and pollution.

Beyond flood control and urban safety, the project will contribute immensely to agricultural development. By redirecting floodwater for irrigation, it is boosting dry-season farming and supporting hundreds of farmers engaged in the cultivation of crops such as cucumber, watermelon, onion, Irish potato, lettuce, tomato, pepper, rice, wheat and other produce across the Waziri and Sumsumma axis.

This intervention is also creating opportunities for youth empowerment, reducing unemployment and discouraging social vices through productive engagement.

The project covers major areas including Nasarawa, Nayi-Nawa, Pompomari, Behind the High Court, Behind Waziri Ibrahim and Sumsumma, where floodwater is systematically channelled for agricultural use.

  • Ghanaian authorities have arrested Victor Benjamin Fajemirokun, the Nigerian man accused of orchestrating the brutal killing of FRSC officer SRC Lasisi Funmilayo and her young daughter in Osun State earlier in November.

Victor was tracked down after a viral video detailing his alleged crimes spread online. He fled Nigeria and was hiding in a friend’s apartment in Ghana before being captured. Arrangements are underway to return him to Nigeria.

    How the Case Unfolded

On November 2, Mrs. Lasisi travelled to Osun State with Victor, whom police describe as her “friend.”

Investigators say they went to the home of a herbalist, where Victor and accomplices allegedly killed and dismembered the FRSC officer for ritual purposes.

Her daughter, who was playing outside, was later taken into the bush, killed, and mutilated.

    Cover-up Attempt

    After the killings, Victor:

Parked his vehicle along the Ikire expressway with keys inside,

    Switched off his phone,

Tried to stage a fake kidnapping to mislead police.

Police traced his call records, which linked him to the herbalist.

    Arrests and Confessions

An undercover operation led to the arrest of the first herbalist after a chase.

The suspect confessed Victor insisted on a ritual killing.

A second herbalist was arrested in Ekiti State.

Both suspects led police to the bush where the child’s remains were found.

Mrs. Lasisi’s dismembered body, without her head, was recovered in a river and taken to the Osun State Teaching Hospital.

    Ongoing Investigation

Osun CP Ibrahim Gotan confirmed the arrests and recovery efforts.
FRSC leadership has expressed shock, and DNA/autopsy procedures are planned once all suspects, including Victor, are secured.

Police say they are committed to ensuring everyone connected to the crime faces justice.

  • Nigerian Military Bans Officers From Marrying Foreigners And Naturalized Citizens.

The Nigerian Armed Forces have enforced a new directive prohibiting officers from marrying foreigners or naturalized Nigerians.

The rule, contained in the Harmonized Terms and Conditions of Service (HTACOS) 2024, also forbids commissioned officers from marrying non-commissioned personnel like soldiers, ratings, or airwomen.

Signed by the President and approved by the Armed Forces Council in December 2024, the new policy mandates strict compliance. It specifies that officers must obtain prior approval and undergo vetting before marriage. Chapter 25, Subsection 5 of the document clearly states that “no officer is allowed to marry a foreigner or a naturalised Nigerian.”

The law also bars newly commissioned officers from marrying during their probation. Those already married before commissioning must live in the Officers’ Mess for at least three months before qualifying for married housing.

A retired major general explained that the rule aims to protect classified information, warning that marriage to a foreigner could risk divided loyalty if Nigeria ever enters conflict with that country.

However, retired Group Captain Shehu Sadeeq called for a review, saying other nations like the US and UK allow such marriages under strict vetting. He noted that an outright ban could infringe on officers’ personal rights.

Human rights advocate Dr. Zikirullahi Ibrahim criticised the rule as discriminatory, questioning why politicians and top officials with dual citizenship are not held to the same standard. He argued that only senior officers in sensitive positions should face such restrictions.

In contrast, Auwal Rafsanjani of CISLAC supported the law, insisting that those entrusted with national security must prioritise the country’s interest over personal relationships.

The HTACOS 2024 replaces the 2017 version and will remain valid for five years before review.
