EFCC Appeals Court Order Releasing 27 Seized Properties to Ex-Works Ministry Official

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has appealed a Federal High Court ruling that ordered the return of 27 properties previously seized from former Ministry of Works official James Ikechukwu Okwete, his company Jamec West Africa Ltd, and Mrs. Adebukunola Iyabode Oladapo. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik had vacated the interim forfeiture order and issued a contempt notice against the EFCC Chairman for alleged refusal to comply. The anti-graft agency has now sought a stay of execution as the case moves to the Court of Appeal.
