How a Military General Ordered My Assassination Wike Opens Up.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has alleged that a military general once ordered his assassination during the 2019 general elections.

Wike made the disclosure on Thursday in an interview with Channels Television.

He said the attempt on his life came under the directive of the then Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi.

According to the former Rivers State governor, many of the opposition governors who now complain of persecution have not faced the kind of threats he endured while in office.

A former media aide to Governor Nyesom Wike, Mr. Opunabo Inkor-Tariah, has shared his views on former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.

In an interview with Vanguard on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Inkor-Tariah praised Amaechi’s record as a minister but argued that he still has a long way to go if he intends to rival Obi’s nationwide popularity.

According to him, Amaechi is a straightforward leader who truly cares about Rivers State and its people. While acknowledging that he is not without flaws, he noted that the former transportation minister made significant contributions during his time in office.

However, Inkor-Tariah stressed that Obi holds the edge in terms of national acceptance. He explained that Obi enjoys wider support across Nigeria and that Amaechi would need to work tirelessly to reach that level.

He also pointed out that President Bola Tinubu faces slim chances of winning Rivers State in any future election.

“Amaechi is an honest man. He loves Rivers State and its people. As a minister, he performed very well. I am not saying he is a saint, but he is good.
We are talking about a nation and not Rivers State. If you place Peter Obi side by side with Amaechi, Obi has more acceptability. Amaechi has to work assiduously to reach Obi’s status,” he said.

Amaechi’s Presidential Bid Dead On Arrival – Wike

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says the 2027 presidential ambition of former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi is “dead on arrival.”

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Wike dismissed Amaechi’s chances, arguing he lacked respect for the rule of law during his tenure as Rivers governor and could not fight corruption or deliver good governance.

Amaechi, who left the APC for the ADC in 2025 to pursue a presidential ticket, was runner-up to President Bola Tinubu in the 2022 APC primaries. But Wike insists Nigerians will not hand him the ADC ticket, let alone the presidency.

Release NDDC audit or I’ll resign Wike dares presidency.

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has challenged President Bola Tinubu to release the forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), claiming it implicates former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Wike responded to corruption allegations made against him by Amaechi.

He asserted that the audit report proves that Amaechi’s wife received N4 billion monthly from the NDDC to train women in the Niger Delta.

Wike declared he would resign from his position as FCT Minister if the report, once made public, does not indict Amaechi.

“Amaechi’s wife is not an industrialist, never was,” Wike said. “Every month, her company received N4 billion from the NDDC that’s N48 billion in a year. The forensic audit captured all of this. The problem is, it was buried by the former Attorney General, Abubakar Malami.”

The former Rivers State governor repeated his call to President Tinubu.

“Please, for the sake of Nigerians, release the forensic audit report. If it doesn’t confirm what I’ve said, I will resign. I don’t cling to office.”

Wike further alleged that the audit report was deliberately suppressed to shield powerful individuals implicated in the scandal.
