The Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign 58-year-old Rita Izehia Iyoha over allegations of property fraud involving N446 million.

Iyoha, along with her sister, Fidelia Oghenetejiri, is accused of defrauding Frank Obruche Esemudje and his wife by claiming to sell them a property in Effurun, Warri.

The sisters allegedly presented themselves as the rightful owners of the property, claiming it was inherited from their late father.

The complainant, however, could not take possession of the property after payment due to an existing court judgment restraining the sisters from selling it.

Attempts to recover the funds failed, as Iyoha reportedly relocated to Ghana shortly after the transaction.

The EFCC, which had been tracking her movements, arrested Iyoha during a visit to Nigeria at a popular Lagos motor park.

She has reportedly made useful statements and is expected to be arraigned in court soon.

  • U.S.-Based Nigerian Mother Charged with Murder After 9-Year-Old Daughter Dies in Hot Car.

A 36-year-old mother, Gbemisola Akayinode, has been charged with murder following the death of her 9-year-old daughter, Oluwasikemi, who was left in a parked car for more than eight hours on a sweltering day in Texas.

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Oluwasikemi’s death was ruled a homicide caused by hyperthermia (heat stroke). The tragic incident occurred on July 1 in Galena Park, near Houston.

Court documents reveal that Akayinode arrived at her workplace, a manufacturing plant, around 5:45 a.m., leaving her daughter in the back seat with food, water, ice cubes, a rechargeable fan, and melatonin to help her sleep. She reportedly lowered the rear windows halfway before heading inside to work.

Akayinode told investigators she didn’t check on her daughter until 1:53 p.m., when she discovered Oluwasikemi unresponsive and blue. She screamed for help, but it was too late.

The mother allegedly said she often brought her daughter to work because she couldn’t afford day care. However, investigators found that her foreman had been covering her day care expenses, contradicting her claim.

Authorities waited for autopsy results before filing charges, which were confirmed last week. Akayinode is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

According to KidsAndCars.org, a U.S. nonprofit tracking vehicular heat deaths at least 30 children have died in hot cars this year alone, and over 1,160 since 1990.

  • Nigerians blush as FG Reports Drop in Food Prices, Highlights Boost in Crop Production Nationwide

The Federal Government has announced that food prices across Nigeria have declined, driven by improved crop yields and stronger agricultural performance, according to the 2025 Agricultural Performance Survey.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, said the report shows steady growth in the production of key staples including rice, maize, sorghum, millet, cowpea, yam, and cassava all recording increases compared to 2024 levels.

Kyari attributed the progress and the “significant reduction in food prices across all zones” to improved supply conditions and the cumulative effect of government programmes focused on input support, mechanisation, and extension service delivery.

He commended the National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison Services (NAERLS) of Ahmadu Bello University and the ministry’s technical departments for their role in producing what he described as a new benchmark for “excellence and transparency” in national agricultural performance tracking.

“This survey remains one of the most important tools for evidence-based planning, monitoring, and policymaking in Nigeria’s agricultural sector. It provides a realistic picture of production outcomes, farmer experiences, and sectoral challenges all crucial for designing targeted interventions,” Kyari said.

He highlighted that the data collection covered all 36 states and the FCT, incorporating new datasets such as the Farm Family Census and Tractor Census, alongside complementary studies on commodity prices, a process he said reflects a stronger commitment to transparency and data-driven decision-making.

The minister also praised farmers for their resilience despite challenges posed by irregular rainfall, localised flooding, and pest outbreaks.

However, Kyari cautioned that high input costs, particularly for fertiliser and fuel, as well as weak post-harvest infrastructure, remain major obstacles to agricultural growth.

  • Chelsea Scouts Target 16-year-old Nigerian Football Sensation, Abduljelil Kamaldeen.

Chelsea scouts are closely monitoring Nigerian wonderkid Abduljelil Kamaldeen, who has caught global attention at the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

The Blues’ vast scouting network has reportedly identified the 16-year-old midfielder as a top prospect after his impressive cameo in Nigeria’s 1-0 loss to Norway U-20 on Monday. Despite being one of the youngest players at the tournament, Kamaldeen showed composure and creativity against opponents nearly five years older, almost salvaging a late equalizer for the Flying Eagles.

Sources suggest the Kwara Football Academy talent could start Nigeria’s next group match against Saudi Arabia, with several European clubs now tracking his progress.

Chelsea’s interest in Kamaldeen began earlier this year at the WAFU Zone B U-20 Boys Cup in Ghana, where he delivered standout performances — including a goal in Nigeria’s 4-1 win over Benin — and impressed against Niger and Ivory Coast in the later stages. Initially deployed as a left winger, his growing maturity on the ball has seen him move into a central attacking midfield role, where his pace, vision, and dribbling have drawn comparisons to Alex Iwobi.

Football analysts believe his flair and confidence echo that of Iwobi’s uncle, Jay-Jay Okocha, one of Nigeria’s greatest football icons.

Chelsea, renowned for developing African stars like Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel, view Kamaldeen as a potential long-term project. His technical ability and versatility reportedly fit the club’s new youth recruitment strategy.

Meanwhile, Chelsea already have another Nigerian teenager, Chizaram Ezenwata, in their youth setup. The London-born striker, who joined from Charlton Athletic, was not released for Nigeria’s pre-tournament training camp and remains eligible to play for England, Nigeria, or Cameroon.

In a related development, first-team star Cole Palmer was spotted supporting Chelsea’s U-19s this week, praising the club’s rising talents — further evidence of the Blues’ growing focus on youth development.

  • If you’re in the UK illegally you will be detained and deported — Kemi Badenoch Unveils “Radical Borders Plan”.

UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has unveiled what she calls the “toughest reforms Britain has ever seen” on immigration, announcing a sweeping new plan aimed at tightening border controls and expelling illegal migrants more rapidly.

In a video message shared on her official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Badenoch launched a new Removals Force, modelled on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, tasked with deporting 150,000 illegal migrants every year.

“My message is clear: if you’re here illegally, you will be detained and deported,” she declared. Dubbed the “Radical Borders Plan,” the proposal includes a series of hardline measures: banning asylum claims from illegal entrants, withdrawing the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), repealing the Human Rights Act, and fast-tracking deportations within one week.

The plan also calls for visa sanctions on countries that refuse to take back their citizens. Badenoch sharply criticised previous Conservative and Labour governments for what she described as decades of failure on immigration policy. She accused Labour of record illegal crossings and mismanagement of taxpayer funds spent on asylum accommodation.

“Successive governments have failed on immigration,” she said. “Labour promised to smash the gangs. Instead, in just a year, they delivered record small boat crossings — over 50,000 illegal arrivals, 32,000 people in asylum hotels, and billions wasted. It’s pure weakness.”

The Conservative leader argued that her proposed reforms would “shut down the asylum hotel racket,” save billions of pounds in public spending, and restore public trust in the country’s border system.

“Only the Conservatives have a serious, credible plan to deliver stronger borders,” Badenoch concluded. “If you come here illegally, you will be deported.”

Check Community Tips – Forums and guides can reveal hidden spawn points and loot mechanics you might miss on your own.

Stay Informed on Patch Notes – Developers occasionally adjust drop rates or add new items. Staying up to date prevents wasted effort.

Combine Loot Runs with Leveling – If you’re farming for items, target areas that also offer experience. This dual approach saves time.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 46-year-old Jude Onouha, the mastermind behind a criminal gang notorious for invading upscale estates and stripping high-end SUVs.

The syndicate, masquerading as security operatives, used fake uniforms and a cleverly modified Mercedes-Benz car jack resembling a firearm to deceive estate guards and gain access to gated communities.

Once inside, the gang targeted luxury vehicles such as Toyota Hilux, Toyota Highlander, Lexus 650, and Mercedes-Benz models, stripping them of valuable components like brainboxes, wiring systems, and side mirrors.

Police recovered the modified car jack and a “Special Force” branded face cap used in the ruse.

Onouha has confessed and is aiding detectives in tracking down other gang members.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, called on estate residents and security managers to verify the identities of anyone claiming to be a security operative before granting entry.

He emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and collaboration with Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to prevent such crimes.

  • Best Weapons to Use Against the Illuminate in Helldivers 2

When facing the Illuminate in Helldivers 2 – Best Weapons Against the Illuminate:https://www.u4gm.com/helldivers-2/blog-helldivers-2-best-weapons-against-the-illuminate, choosing the right loadout often determines whether your squad survives or gets wiped out. Unlike the bug-like Terminids or the heavily armored Automatons, the Illuminate rely on energy weapons, advanced shields, and tricky teleportation abilities. This makes them one of the most frustrating factions to deal with if you come unprepared.

    Understanding the Illuminate Threat

The Illuminate specialize in ranged combat and harassment. Their forces can project energy shields, summon drones, and teleport around the battlefield. This constant mobility means standard ballistic weapons often feel underwhelming. To counter them effectively, you’ll want weapons that either pierce shields, deal splash damage, or suppress groups quickly.

    Best Primary Weapons

Plasma Punisher: A strong choice because of its explosive plasma rounds. It bypasses enemy cover and forces Illuminate units out of defensive positions.

Laser Cannon: Precise and reliable, the Laser Cannon maintains accuracy at long range, making it great for hunting teleporting enemies.

Breaker Shotgun: Although it seems better suited for close-quarters, its spread can quickly delete smaller drones and infantry that swarm your position.

    Best Support Weapons

Railgun: Arguably the most effective support weapon against Illuminate elites. It punches straight through shields and armor, neutralizing high-value targets in one or two well-placed shots.

Autocannon: While slower to deploy, the Autocannon excels in suppressing Illuminate groups and destroying shield generators.

Recoilless Rifle: A balanced option that helps deal with both medium enemies and structures, though its slower reload makes it more situational.

    Grenades and Stratagems

Stun Grenades: Useful for disrupting teleporting units and giving your squad a window to strike.

Orbital Laser: One of the best stratagems against clustered Illuminate groups, especially when they summon reinforcements.

EMS Mortar: Slows down enemy movement, making teleport-heavy encounters far more manageable.

The key to success in Helldivers 2 – Best Weapons Against the Illuminate is adaptability. The Illuminate punish squads that stick to static positions or rely on weapons with slow tracking. Equip gear that emphasizes mobility, precision, and shield-piercing damage. With the right setup, you can turn one of the most frustrating enemy factions into just another target on your galactic liberation checklist.

  • Empower Me and I’ll End Banditry in 2 Months-Gov. Dauda Lawal to FG.

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has thrown a big challenge to the federal government. He has sensationally declared that banditry would be a thing of the past if the federal government gives him direct and complete control of security agencies in the country.

He’s not done. He also declared categorically that he knows the movement of every single bandit leader operating in Zamfara State as he can track them on his mobile phone!

But in a viral video that has sent social media buzzing, the governor lamented that he is seriously handicapped in the fight against banditry in the state because he lacks direct control over security agencies and outfits operating in Zamfara.

The governor lamented that the situation where security chiefs in the state only take orders from Abuja could be counter-productive.

“We have dozens of tracking facilities which we fixed across the state just to help security in tracking the bandits.,’ he disclosed.

“I swear to Almighty Allah, wherever a bandits’ leader is located within Zamfara state, I know it and if he goes out, I know,

“With my mobile phone, I can show you where and where these bandits are today. But we cannot do anything beyond our powers.

“If today, I have the power to give orders to the security agencies, I can assure you, we will end banditry in Zamfara State within two months.

  • A court in Equatorial Guinea has sentenced Ruslan Obiang Nsue, son of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, to six years in prison for illegally selling an aircraft belonging to the national airline.

According to Supreme Court press director Hilario Mitogo, the ruling on Tuesday stated that Obiang Nsue could avoid jail if he reimburses Ceiba Intercontinental about $255,000 for the missing ATR 72-500 plane, in addition to damages and a state fine.

The 50-year-old, a former director of Ceiba Intercontinental, was accused of selling the aircraft to a Spanish company and keeping the proceeds. He was first placed under house arrest in 2023 by his half-brother, Vice-President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue.

The court, however, acquitted him of separate charges of embezzlement and abuse of office. Obiang Nsue, who has also served as secretary of state for sports and youth, is one of several children of President Obiang, who has ruled the oil-rich Central African nation for 46 years.

In a related case abroad, his half-brother, Vice-President Obiang Mangue, was handed a suspended prison sentence and fined $35 million by a French court in 2021 for embezzling public funds.

Newly deployed PoS devices are now required to come with native geolocation features and dual-frequency GPS receivers for precise tracking. The bank further mandated that each PoS device must capture and transmit its location at the start of every transaction, with any activity conducted beyond a 10-meter radius of the registered merchant’s address automatically flagged.

Licensed operators, including major banks and leading fintech firms such as Moniepoint, OPay, and PalmPay, must register each terminal with a payment aggregator and provide accurate merchant coordinates. CBN warned that all terminals failing to comply with the directive by the October 20, 2025 deadline will be disabled from operating.

  • Surge in Killings Across Nigeria Due to 2027 Polls Defence Chief Musa.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has linked the recent surge in killings across the country to political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Musa noted that the renewed wave of insecurity, particularly in the North-East and North-West, cannot be divorced from heightened political activities.

“Last year we recorded the lowest number of deaths. How come this year, suddenly, everything has spiked?” he asked. “Politics is coming, the election is coming. You cannot rule out the fact that some people are controlling these criminals to ensure there is no peace, and governance is discredited. But the funny thing is, how do you kill the people you want to govern?”

The Defence Chief said both bandits and terrorists are working together to destabilize communities, adding that local and foreign funding continue to sustain their operations. He explained that agencies, including the Attorney-General’s office, the Department of State Services (DSS), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), are tracking financiers of terrorism, though prosecutions remain slow due to legal hurdles.

Musa criticized Nigeria’s legal system for frustrating terrorism trials and called for the creation of special courts, faster prosecutions and stiffer punishments.

He further identified instability in the Sahel region and Nigeria’s porous 4,000-kilometre border as major security risks, stressing that weapons from conflict zones in Libya, Sudan and neighbouring countries flow easily into Nigeria.

He cautioned against indiscriminate hospitality towards foreigners, warning that insurgents often disguise themselves as ordinary visitors before turning violent.

On equipment and technology, Musa lamented that the military lacks real-time satellite systems and precision weaponry, noting that global conflicts have made security technology more expensive and harder to acquire.

He welcomed President Bola Tinubu’s approval of the Defence Industrial Bill, which he said would enable Nigeria to manufacture its own military hardware in collaboration with original equipment manufacturers.

  • Every Nigerian Should Learn Combat Skills For Self-Defence – CDS Musa

Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has urged citizens to acquire basic combat and survival skills such as Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, swimming, and driving, describing them as essential for self-protection in today’s dangerous world.

Speaking on Politics Today, Musa said the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) should train graduates in unarmed combat for daily survival, stressing that security is everyone’s responsibility.

He also revealed that terrorists are increasingly funding their operations with gold, making financial tracking complex due to international networks. Musa further cited bad roads, poor communication, and IED threats as key obstacles slowing troops’ response to banditry and terrorism.

On the Southeast, he noted that relative calm has returned since the arrest of pro-Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa in Finland in November 2024.

  • Police Promotions Spark Outrage as Humanitarian Officer Overlooked

The Nigeria Police Force faces criticism after sidelining DSP Faith Okwuego, known for paying exam fees, hospital bills, and supporting schools, while fast-tracking promotions for officers linked to IGP Kayode Egbetokun.

Sources allege Bukola Kuti, the IGP’s close associate, rose to Assistant Commissioner of Police in just 10 years, while Yemisi Ademosu, reportedly his former orderly, was promoted without taking mandatory exams.

Police insiders say a controversial list of 37 handpicked officers has fueled tensions within the Police Service Commission (PSC). Meanwhile, Okwuego’s humanitarian acts remain unrecognized despite public praise, raising questions about favoritism and transparency in police promotions.
