• We Want To Warn Sowore & His Group To Stay Away From Lagos Or Face The Full Weight Of The Law–Police.

The Lagos State Police Command has cautioned activist and political campaigner Omoyele Sowore, along with his supporters, against holding any form of protest in the state over the recent demolition of buildings in the Oworonshoki area.

The command described any attempt to mobilize demonstrations as a direct threat to public peace and warned that such actions would be met with firm resistance.

According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, October 27, 2025, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, issued the warning while addressing journalists at Iyana-Oworo, near the Third Mainland Bridge one of Lagos’s busiest transport corridors.

Jimoh said intelligence reports received by the command indicated that certain groups were planning to stage demonstrations to protest the state government’s demolition exercise in Oworonshoki.

The police chief stressed that the command would not tolerate any public gathering that could obstruct traffic, disrupt daily activities, or escalate into violence.

“We want to warn Sowore and his group to stay away from Lagos or face the full weight of the law,” Jimoh declared. “No individual or group will be allowed to endanger public safety or disrupt the peace we are working hard to maintain.”

The commissioner announced that the command had already deployed a significant number of officers to strategic locations across the city, including Ojota, Maryland, Gani Fawehinmi Park, Gbagada, Bariga, and Lekki Toll Gate, as part of a proactive effort to forestall any unauthorized protest.

He emphasized that the Third Mainland Bridge, a critical national infrastructure linking the Lagos mainland to the island, would be heavily guarded to prevent any attempt to occupy or block it.

  • I am in tears - Lawyer whose car got submerged in Lagos flood says he needs about N2.5million to replace his engine.

A Nigerian lawyer is currently counting his losses after his car got submerged in the flood that took over Lagos on Tuesday, September 23.

He said he was driving towards the Gbagada area of the state when his car got submerged by the flood. He stated that he had to move out of his car when rain was getting serious and that he witnessed the flood waves moving his vehicle.

The distraught lawyer shared videos he recorded stated that the street urchins who were present saw the opportunity to make quick money as they charged him N20, 000 to push his car out of the flood while he spent another N95, 000 to tow the vehicle to his house. He stated that his mechanic came to access the damage and told him that the car engine would cost about N1.8 million to N2.5 million to change.

‘’How Lagos Flood finished my car and knocked the engine completely. Watch the slides to the end. This happened at Gbagada road linking the 3rd Mainland bridge opposite Burger King. The flood was so much that when I came down from the Car, the water was almost by my neck. I was literally swimming to cross the road and falling into different deep gutters because the floor covered the gutters. I was lucky not to get drowned but got injured in the process. To push the car out of the flood, the Agberos collected N20,000 from me despite all the begging. They showed Zero Sympathy and said its the only way they can see money to eat, and their prayers have been answered. The towing vehicles made serious money towing numerous cars. I spent N95,000 to tow the car back home and this is with serious begging and haggling. Mechanic checked the car and confirmed that the Engine has Knocked. I Inquired about a new Tokunbo Engine and I was told between N1.8million to N2.5million. I am in tears!!! Which kin wahala be this''

  • Lagos To Begin Second Phase Of Ogudu–Ifako Bridge Repairs Wednesday.

The Lagos State Government says it will commence the second phase of repair works on the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge (inbound Island) on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that alternative routes have been mapped out to ease movement for motorists during the period.

    Alternative Routes

Oshodi-bound motorists from Lagos–Ibadan Expressway/Toll Gate → use Ojota Slip Road → connect Ikorodu Road (inward Anthony, by Taxi Park).

Victoria Island-bound motorists → Ojota Slip Road → Ikorodu Road (inward Anthony, by Town Planning Way) → Gbagada → Third Mainland Bridge → Lagos Island.

Motorists from Ikeja & environs → proceed via Maryland → Ikorodu Road/Funsho Williams Avenue → Eko Bridge → Outer Marina.

    Government Appeal

Osiyemi said the second phase of repairs follows a review of the initial traffic management plan used during the first phase of the project.

“The partial closure of the bridge is a necessary part of the maintenance programme. Motorists are therefore urged to be patient and bear with the temporary inconvenience in the interest of improved road infrastructure,” he stated.

He also urged drivers to maintain lane discipline, cooperate with Traffic Management Officers, and plan their trips in advance to minimise congestion.

The bridge maintenance is part of a wider effort by the Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to sustain critical road infrastructure and improve traffic flow in the state.

  • Brief: ‘Let’s Face 2027 Elections’ — Charly Boy Shrugs Off Bus Stop Renaming.

Musician and activist Charles Oputa, aka Charly Boy, has downplayed the renaming of the Charly Boy Bus Stop in Gbagada, Lagos, urging Nigerians to focus instead on the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on The Morning Brief, he said the gesture was not a priority, stressing that recognition should go to anyone who has served their community — including new honoree, music star Olamide.

Charly Boy, who once lived in Gbagada and contributed to the area, said the bus stop was originally named after him in the early 1990s. However, he insisted that national issues, especially political accountability and credible elections, matter more than symbolic name changes.

He warned Nigerians not to support leaders who serve personal interests and called for a people-focused, honest, and self-reliance-driven leadership in 2027.
