• Nigeria Customs Service Board Approves Duty-Free Limit For Low-Value Imports

The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) has approved a $300 duty-free limit for low-value imports and passenger baggage, effective September 8, 2025.

The decision, reached at the board’s 63rd regular meeting chaired by Finance Minister Wale Edun, is aimed at simplifying clearance for e-commerce consignments and travellers, in line with global best practices.

Goods valued at $300 or less will be exempt from import duties and taxes (restricted to four importations annually), provided they are not prohibited items.

The NCS warned that attempts to manipulate invoices or evade duties will attract forfeiture, arrest, and other penalties under the 2023 Act.

The board also demoted two officers over misconduct, while reinstating two others after review.
