• Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar alleges that Senator Aminu Tambuwal’s detention by the EFCC was orchestrated under President Tinubu’s orders to weaken the opposition, warning against a slide into one-party rule.

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of detaining former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, on the direct orders of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement posted on X, Atiku claimed the sole reason for Tambuwal’s detention was his membership in the opposition coalition. He described it as part of a wider strategy by the Tinubu administration to harass, intimidate, and cripple opposition forces.

Atiku alleged that the current government has turned the fight against corruption into a political weapon aimed at coercing opposition leaders into joining the ruling party. While stressing the importance of a genuine anti-corruption campaign that enjoys national support, he condemned its weaponization for political gain — calling for strong resistance from civil society and the international community.

“It is as though anyone associated with the opposition is targeted with phantom corruption allegations,” Atiku wrote, adding, “Once coerced into Tinubu’s political fold, their so-called ‘sins’ are instantly forgiven.”

He reaffirmed that opposition members would not yield to what he called “anti-democratic machinations” designed to force Nigeria into a one-party state.

  • For those asking what recovery monies are used for

    - Part of the proceeds made last year was appropriated to NELFUND: N50Billion

    - 200,000 students have benefited so far from NELFUND

    - Also Credit Corporations where civil servants can easily go in and obtain credit probably in single digit interest rates

These have positively impacted the Economy of our Nation.
