Court Orders VeryDarkMan to Remove Defamatory Video Against Falana and Falz

On Tuesday, the Lagos High Court in Ikeja ordered social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, to take down a defamatory video posted on September 24th about Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, and his son, Folarin Falana (Falz). Justice Matthias Dawodu also prohibited him from further publishing or sharing any defamatory content about the Falanas on social media until the hearing of their lawsuit.

The Falanas had filed separate lawsuits seeking ₦500 million each in damages, accusing VeryDarkMan of falsely claiming they received ₦10 million from Idris Okuneye (Bobrisky) to obstruct justice. The court ruled that VeryDarkMan must remove the video and ordered the legal processes to be served on him through his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.

The order remains in effect for 21 days, during which time the Falanas seek to resolve the issue, potentially through an alternative dispute resolution method.
