Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, and his son, Folarin, have demanded that Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, retract defamatory statements he made involving them in an alleged N10 million bribe. They have also requested an apology to be prominently published across all platforms that spread the false claims.
In a letter dated October 14, 2024, written by their lawyers, Olorunfemi Akinyemi and Taiwo Olawanle, the Falanas gave Bobrisky 12 hours from the receipt of the letter to retract the defamatory statements and issue a formal apology. Failure to comply will lead to legal action, including a claim for monetary damages.
The letter accused Bobrisky of making baseless claims that Folarin Falana (Falz) had been asked for N3 million to assist Bobrisky during his imprisonment and that Femi Falana would write a letter of pardon for him. Bobrisky also falsely alleged that he paid N5 million upfront to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria to secure a government pardon.
The letter refuted these allegations, stating that neither Falz nor his father had any involvement in Bobrisky's claims. The Falanas noted that such statements were reckless and have harmed Femi Falana’s reputation, given his long history of providing pro bono legal services to over 300 Nigerians.
The Falanas demand an immediate retraction and apology, warning Bobrisky that failure to comply within the 12-hour window will result in legal consequences.
