WHEN THINGS FALL APART Episode 2

The days after the betrayal felt unreal, like I was watching my life from outside my body. Daniel kept calling. Amara sent long messages full of excuses and tears. I blocked them both.

Silence became my shield.

I stayed indoors, curtains drawn, replaying memories I now hated. Every laugh with Amara felt fake. Every promise from Daniel felt like a lie. I blamed myself was I not enough? Too trusting? Too soft?

Bills didn’t care about my heartbreak. Rejection emails began to arrive, one after another. I applied everywhere, desperate but tired. Some nights, hunger was easier than facing the world.

One evening, my mother called. I hadn’t told her anything yet, but mothers always know.

“Come home,” she said gently.

At home, I finally broke down. I told her everything—the job, the betrayal, the loneliness. She listened without interrupting, then held my hands.

“Sometimes,” she said, “God clears your path by removing people and places that no longer serve you.”

I didn’t fully believe her, but her words stayed with me.

I started small. Morning walks. Writing in a journal. Online courses I once said I didn’t have time for. Slowly, the fog began to lift. Pain was still there, but so was a quiet strength I didn’t know I had.

One afternoon, I received a message from an old colleague about a freelance opportunity. It wasn’t much, but it was something. For the first time in weeks, I smiled.

Maybe my life wasn’t over.

Maybe it was just changing.
