  • "They did it to Jonathan"- Orji Uzor Kalu reveals forces behind insecurity.

The Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has alleged that the country’s insecurity is politically orchestrated by those seeking to undermine President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking on Channels Television on Sunday, Kalu claimed that local and international forces were hiring mercenaries to fuel the situation.

He argued that the pattern of attacks, including abductions and school closures, mirrors past election-season pressure tactics.

“What we are seeing is something that goes with elections. When we have elections, people will try to pressure the government in power, and all kinds of things will start happening,” he said.

According to him, similar situations occurred under former President Goodluck Jonathan, saying, “They did it to Jonathan. This is about 2027.”

“These people (bandits) are partially mercenaries bought by politicians… people-centred to destabilise a president who is ready to fight for our economy.

“The intelligence community knows. I am aware people are sponsoring these things to destabilise the government,” he said.

He added that foreign actors were also involved.

“The terrorists and the bandits are orchestrated by some members of international communities and local people who want to destabilise the government,” he stated.

Kalu expressed confidence in the government, saying Tinubu had cancelled engagements to focus on the crisis.

“Tinubu is having sleepless nights… Those girls will be recovered. The government is making every effort…Our service chiefs and security operatives have gone fully on duty to track them down.

“It is a challenge, but the essence of a government is to protect life and property, and we will be equal to the task,” he added.

  • Don’t expect Russia or China to save Nigeria if the U.S. invades; they’ll just condemn America in strong terms and do nothing, says Pastor Adeboye.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigeria’s service chiefs to act swiftly against the rising wave of killings across the country.

Speaking during the November Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption Camp, Adeboye said terrorists and their sponsors must be eliminated “no matter how influential they may be,” and called on the President to seek diplomatic support from the United States.

    On current action, he said:
“When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, we should make it clear to them that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists they should eliminate their sponsors, no matter how influential they may be.”

Warning against reliance on foreign powers, Adeboye added:
“If America should attack us, China is not coming to defend us. Russia will not come to defend us… Britain is not going to come and help us.”

He stressed the urgency of the situation:
“This is not the time for joking. This is not the time for drama… The point is, people are dying. Innocent people are dying.”

Critiquing a recent presidential statement, he said:
“I almost spoke last month when I heard the speech of my in-law, the President… where I heard him say, ‘All is well now, displaced people have returned to their villages.’ I almost said, ‘The one who wrote that speech for my President, my in-law, does not like him.’”

    Adeboye concluded:
“Do you think I asked you to fast for 100 days for fun? Didn’t I share with you, my children, that God said this would be a remarkable year? Didn’t I share with you that God said the wind that started blowing last year would be more violent this year?”

  • "Nigeria pledges stronger cooperation with U.S. to eliminate terrorism" -Minister of Information Mohammed Idris.

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to deepening collaboration with the United States and other international partners to eradicate terrorism in Nigeria.

Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, dismissed the U.S. Government’s recent classification of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged violations of religious freedom, describing it as a misrepresentation of the nation’s security dynamics.

Idris clarified that terrorism in Nigeria does not target any religious or ethnic group, stressing that both Christians and Muslims have suffered from extremist attacks. He highlighted that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has recorded notable progress, with over 13,500 terrorists neutralized, 17,000 suspects arrested, and nearly 9,800 hostages rescued since May 2023.

He further revealed that more than 124,000 insurgents and their families have surrendered, while many terror leaders in the North-East and North-West have been eliminated. In the South-East, he noted, coordinated operations have reduced violent attacks by nearly 80 percent.

According to Idris, the government’s recent changes in Service Chiefs and security reforms were introduced to boost efficiency, accountability, and innovation within the defence system.

He cited Nigeria’s acquisition of U.S.-made Super Tucano jets and AH-1Z Viper helicopters as examples of successful military cooperation and urged Washington to adopt a constructive and informed approach to Nigeria’s complex security challenges.

Reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to protecting religious freedoms and ensuring national unity, Idris assured that the Tinubu administration will continue to work closely with allies to completely eliminate terrorism and sustain peace across the country.

  • Nigerian NSA, service chiefs hold emergency meeting over trump’s military action warning

The national security adviser, nuhu ribadu, on monday held an emergency meeting with service chiefs and security heads in abuja following u.s. president donald trump’s warning of possible military intervention in nigeria.

Security sources said the meeting focused on assessing the security and diplomatic implications of trump’s remarks and preparing a unified national response. according to reports, the nsa urged all agencies to strengthen intelligence coordination and reinforce nigeria’s sovereignty.

Presidential aide daniel bwala maintained that the united states cannot conduct any military operation in nigeria without president bola tinubu’s approval.

Reacting to the controversy, president tinubu dismissed trump’s comments as a misrepresentation of nigeria’s religious situation.

He reiterated that nigeria’s constitution guarantees freedom of worship and equality for all faiths, adding that his administration continues to work with christian and muslim leaders to promote peace.

Tinubu emphasized that nigeria opposes any form of religious persecution and remains committed to interfaith harmony. he also pledged to engage diplomatically with the u.s. and international partners to build understanding and cooperation.

Despite this, trump insisted that u.s. military action “remains on the table,” saying america will not stand by while christians are attacked.

The office of the national security adviser is expected to issue a formal statement outlining nigeria’s official position and next steps after the high-level meeting.

  • Air Force Officer Linked in Alleged Coup Plot to Assassinate Ribadu.

New details have emerged in the investigation into an alleged coup plot in which a recently deployed air force officer was reportedly assigned to assassinate Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Cable reports.

According to sources familiar with the probe, Squadron Leader SB Adamu (service no. NAF/3481), from Jigawa State, was posted to the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) — a programme under the Office of the National Security Adviser — just four weeks before the suspected plot was uncovered.

Although earlier reports claimed multiple suspects were attached to ONSA, sources clarified that Adamu was the only one linked to the office through the NCTC.

Military insiders said Major General Adamu Garba Laka, the National Coordinator of the NCTC, had requested a particular officer for deployment to the centre in August 2025.

However, his request was declined and Adamu was sent instead — a development now raising questions about whether the plotters had gained influence within the military’s chain of command.

Adamu is a member of Regular Course 59 of the Nigerian Defence Academy.

In recent weeks, President Bola Tinubu relieved two service chiefs of their positions, including former Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, leading to speculation about possible internal cracks in the armed forces.

The Defence Headquarters, however, maintains that the investigation of 16 military officers currently in custody is a standard internal disciplinary procedure. Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, said the findings will be made public in due course.

Meanwhile, media reports continue to reveal the identities of officers allegedly linked to the plot.

  • Coup rumours: Agbakoba backs Tinubu on replacement of service chiefs.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Olisa Agbakoba, has backed President Bola Tinubu’s decision to replace the nation’s service chiefs, describing it as a wise and timely move, especially amid rumours of an alleged coup plot.

President Tinubu had on Friday announced major changes in the leadership of the armed forces as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security structure. The reshuffle included the appointment of a new Chief of Defence Staff and other top military officers.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Agbakoba said the president’s action showed firmness and decisiveness that were lacking in the previous administration.

“You have a president who is prepared to take tough decisions, and we know that he likes to take tough decisions,” Agbakoba said.

“I think he has done the right thing because his predecessor, the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, did not like to make such decisions and allowed his military team to stay far longer than they should have.”

Reports had linked the cancellation of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary events on October 1 to an alleged coup attempt. But the Defence Headquarters dismissed the claims, saying the cancellation had no connection to any plot.

The former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) said the timing of the president’s decision was appropriate and showed leadership at a critical moment.

“So, if it is indeed true that there was a rumoured coup, I think he (Tinubu) acted sensibly by doing exactly what he has done,” he said.

  • Presidency Explains Sack of Defence Chief, Others, Says Move Is Routine.

The Presidency has clarified that the removal of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, and other service chiefs is a routine exercise aimed at strengthening national security.

Presidential spokesperson Sunday Dare stated this in an interview with DAILY POST on Friday, following President Bola Tinubu’s announcement of the new security appointments earlier in the day.

General Musa has been replaced by Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff. Other appointments include Major General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff. Major General E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

Dare explained that such changes are within the President’s constitutional powers as Commander-in-Chief.

“This is routine, meant to boost security across the nation. The Commander-in-Chief can at any time make these changes to both ministerial and service chiefs. In the same way, commanding officers of mechanized divisions can be moved or removed,” he said.

The reshuffle in the military hierarchy comes amid unverified rumours of a possible coup, which both the Presidency and the Nigerian Army have dismissed as false.
