• Omah lay Reacts to Grammy Nomination, Says He Doesn’t Care About Awards But Wants Win for Davido.

Nigerian singer Omah Lay has shared his thoughts following his first-ever Grammy nomination, expressing gratitude while emphasizing that awards are not his main focus.

The ‘Soso’ crooner was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for his collaboration with Davido on the hit single ‘With You’. The category also features other top Nigerian stars, including Ayra Starr, Wizkid, and Burna Boy, who additionally received a nod for Best Global Music Album.

Taking to Instagram, Omah Lay admitted that while he is happy about the recognition, he personally doesn’t attach much importance to awards. Instead, he said he genuinely hopes Davido wins, describing the Afrobeats icon as “the realest friend” who supported him during difficult times.

“I’m excited about this Grammy nomination haha but honestly, I don’t care much about awards,” he wrote. “But I really want it for OBO! He’s the realest friend I’ve had in a while — he stood by me during my hardest times.”

The nomination also marks another major moment for Davido, who, despite multiple nominations, is yet to win a Grammy. His chances this year appear promising following his appointment as a voting member of the Recording Academy.

The 2026 Grammy Awards are set to take place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and will air live on CBS as well as stream on Paramount+.

  • Wizkid to Headline CANEX 2025 Mega Concert in Algeria Amid ₦6.4bn Pay Rumors

Nigerian music superstar Wizkid has been officially confirmed as the headline act for the CANEX 2025 Mega Concert in Algiers, Algeria, taking place on Friday, September 5.

The concert is part of the Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) 2025, running from September 4–10, a festival that celebrates Africa’s creative industries — from music and fashion to film, literature, and visual arts.

Organisers described Wizkid’s inclusion as a huge boost:

“Renowned for his infectious Afrobeat rhythms, chart-topping hits, and magnetic stage presence, Wizkid has become one of Africa’s most celebrated music icons.”

Social media, however, has been set ablaze with claims that Wizkid will earn up to ₦6.4 billion ($4.2 million) for the performance. While entertainment blogs like @tooxclusive_com and @entdaily001 amplified the buzz, the organisers have not officially confirmed the figure.

This wouldn’t be Wizkid’s first big paycheck — from $681,200 at an Indian royal wedding (2018) to $3 million at the AIA Sound Festival in Denmark (2025), and nearly $1 million from his Madison Square Garden show in New York, the star continues to set records.

With past performances at the O2 Arena (London) and State Farm Arena (Atlanta) also raking in close to $900,000 each, Wizkid’s CANEX 2025 appearance is shaping up to be another history-making moment.

  • Naira Marley was bigger than Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy before scanda l ~ VeryDarkMan

Self-styled activist, Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, has claimed that Nigerian singer, Naira Marley was bigger than his colleagues, Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy, before he became a victim of cancel culture following accusations of involvement in his former signee, Mohbad’s death.

He made the claim while speaking on the dangers of cancel culture in a recent video broadcast on TikTok, noting that Naira Marley’s fanbase otherwise called, Marlians, were the largest fanbase in the country before the singer was “cancelled.”

VDM said, “Naira Marley was bigger than Wizkid, Burna boy and Davido. He had a very large fanbase both in Nigeria and abroad until this Mohbad issue. The music industry is so dark. The jealousy in the industry is too much.”

He urged the relevant authorities to conclude the issues surrounding Mohbad’s death so that the public can move on from it.

  • BBNaija Faces Legal Threat As Lawyer Petitions NBC, Demands Ban Or Regulation Within 30 Days.

Activist lawyer Maduabuchi Idam has petitioned the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), calling for an immediate ban or strict regulation of the ongoing Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show.

He described the programme as ob+cene, indecent, and prof@ne, and gave the commission 30 days to act or face legal action. In the petition addressed to NBC’s Director General and titled “Urgent need to ban or regulate the content of the television programme described as ‘Big Brother Naija’ for ob+cene, indecent, and prof@ne content, pursuant to the NBC Act 1999,” Idam accused the show of airing real-time explicit and pornographic content freely on television and social media.

“The show is not only aired on national TV but its profane content is proudly shared on the verified social media handles of the host company, in total disregard for public morality,” he stated.

He questioned why NBC, which had previously banned or sanctioned music videos by Olamide, Phyno, Wizkid, and others for similar reasons, has remained silent about BBNaija’s content.

Although BBNaija is rated 18+, Idam said this rating is insufficient because the show’s content is still easily accessible to underage viewers and the general public, especially via social media. He argued that the programme contributes nothing of educational, artistic, scientific, or literary value and blamed it for undermining public decency and morality.

Idam urged the NBC to restrict the show to highly regulated channels reserved for adult audiences and to prohibit the distribution of expl+cit clips by the host company online. He stressed that Nigeria, already struggling with insecurity and other social vices, cannot afford the moral damage caused by such unregulated content.

“The NBC must act now to prevent further erosion of our societal values,” he warned, threatening legal action if no action is taken within 30 days.

  • If you like, abuse me…” – Davido hits back after Verydarkman denied receiving financial support, he responds.

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has finally reacted to claims made by controversial activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), who publicly denied ever receiving any financial help from the singer.

The exchange comes on the heels of a recent online video where VDM firmly stated that contrary to popular belief, Davido never paid for his hotel or flight during their much-publicized linkup in Lagos.

This narrative Verydarkman claimed has often been used by critics to shut him down whenever he comments on matters involving the “Unavailable” crooner.

Amid the buzz, Davido, currently still on his global “5Alive Tour,” dropped a subtle yet direct now-deleted comment on Instagram under a post referencing the situation.

“VDM if u like abuse my whole life I no fit fight u,” he wrote, drawing mixed reactions online — some taking it as sarcastic, others calling it graceful restraint.

Responding swiftly, VeryDarkMan quoted the singer:

“@davido SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT. If you see am as insult, the aluta continua. Love always from my end (I no be anybody boy still)!”

Despite the online friction, VDM maintained that his intentions weren’t driven by hate, but clarity.

The back-and-forth has since stirred intense reactions across social media, with fans praising Davido’s maturity and others commending Verydarkman’s transparency.

The controversy stems from widespread assumptions that Davido funded Verydarkman’s trip to Lagos at the peak of his social media relevance in 2023.

During that period, VDM was widely seen defending Davido during his online feud with associates of Wizkid and others, fueling speculation that his loyalty may have been incentivized.
