• TIB Delta to Protest ‘Unlawful’ Prosecution of Activist Aghogho Amid AGF Authorization Dispute

The Take It Back Movement (TIB), Delta State chapter, plans a peaceful protest at the Federal High Court in Warri on December 15 over the alleged unlawful prosecution of activist Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho. The group says Delta State initiated federal charges without the Attorney-General of the Federation’s consent, despite conflicting positions presented before the ECOWAS Court. Aghogho is challenging the case as unconstitutional and seeking its dismissal along with ₦500 billion in compensation. TIB argues that the AGF’s filings expose inconsistencies, calling for judicial accountability as tensions rise ahead of the next court hearing.

  • The U.S. has agreed to fast track Nigeria’s pending arms requests. Hopefully, this means the NAF will receive its 12 AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters earlier than the projected 2028 delivery date, which is an excessively long wait, as well as the Nigerian Army’s Aviation Corps 12 MD-530F Cayuse Warrior Plus scout/attack helicopters. Both acquisitions are worth nearly $2 billion.

  • Dangote Surge Forces Petrol Prices Down as Depots, NNPC Slash Rates Nationwide

Nigerians are beginning to feel relief as private depots and NNPC retail stations slash petrol prices following a major increase in supply triggered by the Dangote Refinery. After Dangote announced it is now producing 50 million litres of petrol daily, depot owners across Lagos, Port Harcourt, Warri and Calabar reduced ex-depot prices to stay competitive, with rates now ranging between ₦835 and ₦853 per litre depending on location.
NNPC stations also cut pump prices to ₦905 in Lagos and ₦930 in Abuja, with major marketers like MRS and Ardova selling below ₦900. With strong supply from Dangote and incoming oil cargoes, more price reductions may follow. Diesel prices are also falling, driven by increased supply and lower demand.

  • Peter Obi’s Claims On Neglect Of Ports Outside Lagos Is Incorrect’ – Ministry Of Marine

The Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy has described the claims of the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, that the federal government is neglecting ports outside Lagos as incorrect and misleading.

Peter Obi recently criticised the Federal Government’s approval of US$1 billion for the modernisation of the Apapa and TinCan Island seaports in Lagos.

The former Governor of Anambra State urged the Federal Government to extend port development to other parts of the country.

In a post on his 𝕏 handle, Peter Obi condemned the excessive investment in Lagos’s infrastructure.

He lamented that such actions are carried out at the expense of other strategic ports such as Warri, Port Harcourt, Calabar, and Onne.

In response, the spokesperson to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, Bolaji Akinola, in a statement on Wednesday, said the ministry welcomes constructive criticisms but argued that Peter Obi’s comments were misleading.

Akinola stated that the government is committed to modernising ports nationwide, stressing that the ministry has begun procurement for the upgrade of ports in Warri, Port Harcourt, Calabar, and Onne, alongside the ongoing modernisation of Apapa and TinCan Island ports.

The statement read, “The Federal Government is collaborating with state governments and private investors on new deep seaports in Bayelsa (Agge), Akwa Ibom (Ibom), Rivers (Bonny), and Cross River states.

The Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign 58-year-old Rita Izehia Iyoha over allegations of property fraud involving N446 million.

Iyoha, along with her sister, Fidelia Oghenetejiri, is accused of defrauding Frank Obruche Esemudje and his wife by claiming to sell them a property in Effurun, Warri.

The sisters allegedly presented themselves as the rightful owners of the property, claiming it was inherited from their late father.

The complainant, however, could not take possession of the property after payment due to an existing court judgment restraining the sisters from selling it.

Attempts to recover the funds failed, as Iyoha reportedly relocated to Ghana shortly after the transaction.

The EFCC, which had been tracking her movements, arrested Iyoha during a visit to Nigeria at a popular Lagos motor park.

She has reportedly made useful statements and is expected to be arraigned in court soon.

  • "Yahoo Boys Have Killed Romance in Nigeria"— Rapper Erigga.

Nigerian rapper Erhiga Agarivbie, better known as Erigga, has sparked conversation online after claiming that internet fraudsters, popularly called Yahoo Boys, have “killed romance” in Nigeria.

Speaking in an interview with Yanga FM, the Warri-born artiste said the flashy lifestyle of Yahoo Boys has distorted relationships by creating unrealistic expectations among women.

According to him, their habit of spending lavishly has made it difficult for genuine love to thrive.

“Yahoo boys don kill romance. Romance no longer exists. When last did you see two lovers holding hands together on the street? It’s been a long time. The problem now is that we are raising weak men who believe their entire value lies in their pockets,” he said.

Erigga lamented that relationships, once simple and heartfelt, have now become transactional. He recalled that romance used to be “affordable,” noting that couples once found joy in the little things.

“Back then, it used to be meat pie — very affordable — and women were appreciative. But men also share in the blame; weak men set the standards that women later raised,” he added.

The rapper’s comments have reignited debate about materialism, masculinity, and the state of modern relationships in Nigeria.

  • Meet Notorious Kidnap Kingpin Pardoned by President Tinubu.

A wave of outrage and disbelief has trailed the release of 44-year-old Kelvin Prosper Oniarah — the infamous Delta-born kidnap kingpin once declared one of Nigeria’s most dangerous criminals — following his inclusion in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s latest round of presidential pardons.

Oniarah, also known by his aliases Kelvin Ibruvwe and Kelvin Ezigbe, was arrested on September 25, 2013, in a joint operation by the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Army. He was subsequently convicted for multiple counts of kidnapping, armed robbery, and terrorism-related offences that terrorised parts of Delta, Edo, Anambra, and Rivers States for years.

    Trail of Violence and Terror
Before his arrest, Kelvin was the leader of a feared criminal syndicate responsible for high-profile kidnappings and killings. Among his victims was renowned human rights lawyer, Barrister Mike Ozekhome (SAN), abducted on August 24, 2013, along the Auchi–Benin expressway.

Other victims linked to his gang included:

A serving judge of the Edo State Judiciary,
A female Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) official,
Dr. Chudi Nwike, former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, who was killed in captivity,
Several National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and security personnel.
Kelvin’s network operated from camps in Warri and Kokori (Delta State), Ugbokolo (Benue), Benin City (Edo), and Aba (Abia State). His reign of terror also saw the killing of numerous policemen and soldiers during deadly ambushes.

    Defiance Against the State
In a chilling episode that underscored his notoriety, Oniarah publicly issued a 60-day ultimatum to the Federal Government in September 2013, demanding the release of his detained gang members or face nationwide bloodshed — a threat that prompted one of the most extensive manhunts in Nigeria’s history.

    Conviction and Release
Oniarah was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in October 2023, with his sentence backdated to 2013. It was later reduced to 13 years for what prison officials described as “good conduct” and participation in the National Open University of Nigeria correctional education programme.

His sudden release under the Tinubu administration’s controversial amnesty programme has sparked a storm of criticism from security analysts and victims’ families, who argue that granting clemency to an unrepentant criminal undermines justice and the fight against violent crime.

Kelvin’s freedom, after 12 years behind bars, now raises serious questions about the moral compass of the nation’s justice system

  • 23-year-old American Climber, Balin Miller, Dies while climbing a 3000-foot granite wall in Yosemite National Park.

American climber Balin Miller has d+ed at the age of 23 while attempting a climb in Yosemite National Park, his family confirmed on Thursday.

Miller was on El Capitan, the park’s iconic 3,000-foot granite wall immortalized by Alex Honnold’s Free Solo, when the fatal accident occurred during his ascent of the “Sea of Dreams” route. His mother, Jeanine Moorman, announced the news in a post on the website of VIRR, the family’s outdoor goods company.

“This is unthinkable,” she wrote. “At this time, we do not yet know all the details. What we do know is that the world has lost an extraordinary soul, and our hearts are shattered.”

Moorman remembered her son as a free spirit with “a touch of Robin Williams’ wild energy,” describing him as curious, strategic, and endlessly playful.

Born into a family that embraced the outdoors, Miller was introduced to climbing by his father in the mountains of Alaska and grew into a fearless adventurer who scaled cliffs and ranges around the world.

Living a nomadic lifestyle, often out of his silver Prius, he pieced together a shoestring income to fund his passion. “Balin was full of life, a true wild card at heart,” his mother wrote.

A beloved figure in the climbing community, Miller became popular for his TikTok livestreams and was affectionately nicknamed the “orange tent guy” for his bright gear. His distinctive glitter makeup also drew attention; he once compared it to “a warrior putting makeup on before going into battle,” in an interview with Climbing magazine earlier this year.

In June, he achieved what is believed to be the first solo climb of the Slovak Direct route on Denali (Mount McKinley), North America’s tallest peak. He had only recently returned from an ice and alpine expedition in Alaska and had long dreamed of conquering a Yosemite lead.

His death coincided with the first day of the U.S. federal government shutdown, a development that left many national parks at risk of closure or reduced services.

  • Rights activist demands probe into killing of woman accused of child theft in Delta.

A human rights activist, Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen, on Thursday said the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori-led Delta State Government should immediately investigate the murder of a woman by an angry mob on the suspicion of attempting to steal a seven-year-old child in Agbarho Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area.

Agberen, in a statement sent to our correspondent in Warri, insisted that those suspected to be responsible must be arrested and brought to justice.

The woman was set ablaze by the mob on Wednesday, September 13, DAILY POST can report.

According to Agberen, he is making the call after the husband and children of the deceased woman visited the Ughelli North Council Chairman, Hon. (Barr.) Jaro Egbo, in his office over the incident.

“While it has been reported by the indigenous people and residents of Agbarho town about the persistent and alarming disappearance of children, suspected to be victims of human trafficking or stolen for ritual purposes, which calls for concerns by the State Government and relevant authorities, no individuals, groups, residents or aggrieved commuters have the right to take the life of another on the ground of being a suspect or caught in the act.

“What would be the fate of these children, growing up in an environment where they are exposed to individuals who brutally tortured and murdered their mother, based on an unjust and erroneous characterization?

According to Agberen, “As a concerned citizen, I deeply condemn the actions of the aggrieved mob, which also expose the tragic consequences of mob justice, which continues to claim innocent lives and erode public trust in the justice system.

“The incident is a sobering reminder of the urgent need for stronger law enforcement, public education, and judicial reforms too.

  • Protests rock Delta state after fresh attacks by gunmen in Sapele.

Fresh unrest has erupted in Otonyasere community, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta state, after alleged attacks left homes and shops in ruins.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of September 16, reportedly saw gunmen from Abigborodo community in Warri North, unleash sporadic gunfire and torch properties worth millions.

Angered by the destruction, hundreds of Okpe indigenes staged a peaceful protest on September 23. The demonstration, led by Moses Newcome Odiete, national president of the Okpe Youth Council Worldwide, sent a strong message to government and security agencies.

“Okpe will not fold its arms while our people are oppressed,” Odiete said. He accused the Alema of Warri of sponsoring the violence over the disputed Okpe Osobo Forest Reserve, insisting the land belongs to the Okpe people.

“The boundary between Okpe and Warri North is clearly the bridge, yet they have crossed into our territory. They burnt homes, shot our people, and still allege that I led an invasion into their community. We want peace, but nobody has monopoly of violence,” he warned.

Community leaders backed his claims with historical records, while victims recounted harrowing tales of loss, including homes, shops, motorcycles, and savings.

Traditional leaders in Sapele accused the attackers of attempting to annex Okpe land through violence, urging urgent government intervention.

Protesters later marched to the Sapele Local Government Secretariat, where they were received by Felix Abone, executive assistant to chairman Bright Abeke.

  • Forrest Frank Loses 30,000 Followers After Sharing Charlie Kirk Video and Bold Gospel Message

Viral Christian singer Forrest Frank has revealed that about 30,000 Instagram users unfollowed him after he posted a clip of conservative activist Charlie Kirk praising the impact of his music on Gen Z.

Frank, best known for his song “Good Day,” responded to Kirk’s comments by sharing the gospel message and leading his 5.5 million followers in the sinner’s prayer.

The post sparked mixed reactions—while many applauded his boldness, thousands chose to unfollow.

“I don’t care if you follow me. But I do care if you follow Jesus,” Frank wrote. “I repent for ways I’ve allowed my platform to be a lukewarm highlight reel. From here on out, I’m using all my energy to point people to the only thing that matters.”

Saudi Arabia’s long-awaited Hollywood-style blockbuster Desert Warrior, starring Anthony Mackie, is finally set to have its world premiere at the Zurich Film Festival on September 28.

Directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), the $150 million period action film also features Ben Kingsley and Aiysha Hart. • The industrial action led to fuel scarcity in some parts of the country, as several filling stations were shut. The Aradel refinery in Obele, Port Harcourt, as well as the Kwale Hydrocarbon facility in Delta State, were also closed down.

Last Friday, NUPENG had announced plans to suspend fuel loading nationwide, accusing the Dangote refinery of attempting to prevent its 4,000 truck drivers from joining the union.

Although the Federal Government reached out to NUPENG over the weekend to avert the strike, Akporeha maintained at the time that the action would proceed as planned.

By Monday morning, full compliance was observed as tanker drivers stayed away from lifting fuel. PUNCH Online gathered that petroleum depots across the country were at a standstill, with NUPENG officials monitoring operations to enforce compliance.

In Lagos, Warri, and other major depots nationwide, tanker drivers parked their trucks and awaited further directives on the union’s next steps.

  • Warri Crisis: Ex-Reps Member Slams Senator Dafinone Over ‘Reckless, Divisive’ Comment

Former Warri Federal Constituency lawmaker, Daniel Reyenieju, has blasted Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central) over his remarks on Saturday’s violent clash between Itsekiri and Urhobo youths in Warri.

Dafinone had condemned the violence but described the attack on the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) House as “an attack on the entire Urhobo Nation.”

Reyenieju, however, called the statement reckless, divisive, and unbecoming of a legislator, accusing Dafinone of prioritising a building over human lives and inflaming ethnic tension rather than calming it.

He urged the senator to “retraces his steps, temper his language, and focus on building unity,” stressing that Warri needs peace and inclusiveness, not further division.

The NDLEA prosecution counsel, Abu Ibrahim, told the court that the convict was arrested on July 16, 2025, at the Tarmac Baggage Hall Basement of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

A Federal High Court in Lagos has convicted businessman Uyiosa Omoregie and sentenced him to one year in prison for the unlawful export of 3.60 kilograms of tramadol and 400 kilograms of Rohypnol.

Justice Deinde Dipeolu handed down the sentence on Thursday, August 21, 2025 after Omoregie pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful exportation of the prohibited drugs filed against him by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

The NDLEA prosecution counsel, Abu Ibrahim, told the court that the convict was arrested on July 16, 2025, at the Tarmac Baggage Hall Basement of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

He told the court that Omoregie was found with 3.60 kilograms of tramadol, a narcotic analgesic, and 400 grams of Rohypnol, a psychotropic substance, which he intended to export to Pakistan.

The prosecutor said the arrest was carried out by a joint team of aviation security officers and the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency operatives.

According to the prosecutor, the offences committed contravened section 11(b) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

Following his guilty plea and the evidence presented, the prosecution urged the court to convict and sentence the convict in line with Section 274(2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015.

However, the defence counsel, Dennis Warri, pleaded for leniency, asking the court to impose a non-custodial sentence or a fine in lieu of imprisonment.
