  • Wahala Don Burst for Abuja Oo! Police Arrest ‘One-Chance’ Gang Over Brutal Killing Of Lawyer Princess Chigbo

Wahala don sup for Abuja oo! The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has finally arrested three notorious “one-chance” armed robbery suspects linked to the gruesome killing of legal practitioner Barrister Chigbo Princess Nwamaka Mediatrix, a tragedy that shook the entire nation.

The suspects—described by police as members of a violent criminal syndicate—were picked up in Dei-Dei, Dakwa, and Dan-Tata communities in Kubwa, Abuja, following an intensive manhunt ordered by the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye.

According to a statement released on Sunday, January 11, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrests were carried out as part of a renewed crackdown on “one-chance” operations that have returned to terrorise residents of the nation’s capital.

    Who Are The Suspects?

    Police identified the suspects as:

Saifullahi Yusuf (22) – from Kaduna State

Ishau Yusuf (24) – also from Kaduna State and biological brother to Saifullahi

    Minka’ilu Jibril (a.k.a Dan-Hajia) – also from Kaduna State

Investigations revealed that the trio are members of a well-known “one-chance” robbery network that has reportedly operated in the FCT for years, especially during festive periods when unsuspecting commuters are most vulnerable.

    How The Lawyer Was Killed

SP Adeh explained that the tragic incident occurred on January 5, 2026, at about 5:50 p.m., when Barrister Chigbo boarded a black Volkswagen Golf 3 along the Kubwa Expressway, believing it to be a normal commercial vehicle.

“Upon entry into the vehicle, the suspects wound up the tinted windows and threatened the victim with weapons in an attempt to force her to pay ransom for her own release,” the police said.

When the lawyer allegedly resisted, she was physically assaulted and pushed out of the moving vehicle, leading to her death.

Na so life just end like that oo.

The suspects also reportedly stole her Android phone and later sold it in Dei-Dei for ₦120,000. According to police:

    Minka’ilu Jibril received ₦30,000,

    Saifullahi Yusuf got ₦15,000,

While Ishau Yusuf shared the balance with another accomplice who is still on the run.

    Dangerous Weapons Recovered

During the arrests, police recovered several weapons allegedly used by the gang, including:

    Five pairs of scissors

    Two sharp dagger knives

    Two other knives

A long chain used to restrain victims

    A plier

Police said investigations are ongoing and efforts are being intensified to arrest the remaining suspect and dismantle other criminal networks linked to the syndicate.

NBA Reacts: “Abuja Is No Longer Safe”

The killing of Princess Chigbo sparked outrage across the country, with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) raising alarm over what it described as the dangerous return of “one-chance” crimes in Abuja.

In a statement signed by its President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, the NBA lamented that the capital city had once again been plunged into fear and mourning.

According to the association, Princess Chigbo was not the only victim. Another professional, Ms. Chinemerem Pascalina Chuwumeziem, a nurse, was also killed in a similar “one-chance” attack.

“What appears to be the disturbing return of ‘one-chance’ criminal operations in the Federal Capital Territory has once again plunged Abuja into grief,” the NBA said.

    Family’s Painful Account

The late lawyer’s family revealed heartbreaking details of her final moments. Before her abduction, Princess Chigbo was reportedly on a phone call with her sister, Anthonia, when she suddenly cried out in distress and the call cut off.

The family later received a ransom demand of ₦3 million, but before any arrangement could be concluded, subsequent calls captured her screaming in pain.

On January 6, the family was informed that a badly injured woman had been taken to a specialist hospital. When her sister arrived, she found Princess Chigbo’s lifeless body in the mortuary, bearing signs of severe torture, including swollen eyes, bruises, and a cracked skull.

    Police Issue Warning To Residents

Commending his officers, CP Miller Dantawaye reassured residents that the FCT Police Command remains committed to flushing out criminal elements from Abuja.

SP Adeh urged members of the public to:

Avoid boarding unregistered or suspicious vehicles

    Remain vigilant at all times

Report suspicious activity using police emergency numbers: 08032003913, 07057337653

  • Wahala Don Happen: Abuja Lawyer Abducted, Brutally Killed by ‘One-Chance’ Criminals – Ejiofor Raises Alarm!

Abuja wahala don reach another level! Human rights lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor has cried out over the shocking abduction and brutal murder of Abuja-based lawyer, Princess Nwamaka Mediatrix Chigbo, allegedly carried out by notorious “one-chance” criminals hiding under the guise of commercial taxis.

In a statement shared with journalists, Ejiofor described the killing as a tragic reflection of the worsening insecurity in the nation’s capital and a failure of leadership and proper intelligence-led policing.

According to the rights lawyer, urgent, discreet, and intelligence-driven action is needed to dismantle these “one-chance” syndicates. He suggested measures like vehicle profiling, mandatory registration, digital tagging, and biometric capture of all commercial transport operators in the FCT, while eliminating unregistered taxis through continuous enforcement and undercover operations.

Ejiofor lamented that Abuja, once meant to be the secure heart of Nigeria, is increasingly becoming a city of fear where criminals attack unsuspecting citizens in broad daylight.

He described the late Princess Chigbo, an active Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) member, as a brilliant lawyer whose death marks the alarming rise of insecurity in the capital. The lawyer was reportedly abducted on January 5, 2026, after boarding what seemed like a normal commercial taxi—what Ejiofor called a “moving death chamber.” She was allegedly tortured and killed by her abductors.

Ejiofor also called out leadership failure in the FCT, accusing the Minister of neglecting his constitutional duty as Chief Security Officer of Abuja, allegedly being more focused on political activities outside the capital.

With insecurity on the rise, Nigerians are now left wondering: is Abuja still safe for everyday citizens trying to go about their business?

  • Is Abuja Safe Anymore? NBA Raises Alarm Over Return of ‘One-Chance’ Killings After Murder of Nurse and Lawyer

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has raised a grave alarm over what it described as the disturbing return of “one-chance” criminal operations in Abuja following the brutal killing of two professionals in separate incidents across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). In a statement signed by its President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, the association warned that insecurity is once again tightening its grip on Nigeria’s seat of power.

According to the NBA, the victims were Ms. Chinemerem Pascalina Chuwumeziem, a nurse, and Princess Chigbo Mediatrix, a lawyer and former Treasurer of the NBA Abuja Branch. Both women were allegedly murdered after falling prey to criminals posing as commercial transport operators—an infamous tactic known locally as “one-chance.” Their bodies were later discovered in different parts of the city, sparking widespread fear among residents.

The association described the killings as a chilling reminder of the growing vulnerability of Abuja residents, stressing that the victims were not faceless individuals but professionals who simply intended to return home safely from their daily engagements. The NBA said the incidents had plunged the capital into grief and exposed a dangerous deterioration in public safety.

Condemning the attacks in the strongest terms, the NBA warned that the pattern of “one-chance” crimes could no longer be ignored. It stated that criminal gangs masquerading as transport operators have turned routine commuting into a life-threatening gamble, making ordinary citizens, workers, and professionals targets on the city’s roads.

Osigwe described the killing of Princess Chigbo Mediatrix as particularly painful for the legal community, noting that she was a committed member of the Bar whom he knew personally. He said her death was not only a professional loss but a deeply personal blow, underscoring that lawyers—like all Nigerians—remain dangerously exposed in an environment where criminals operate with impunity.

The NBA warned that the murders represent more than individual tragedies, arguing that they signal a broader erosion of security in the FCT. It stressed that when citizens cannot commute safely, when professionals are attacked in plain sight, and when criminal networks act unchecked in the nation’s capital, the foundations of social order are severely threatened.

Calling for urgent action, the association urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies to treat the situation as a full-scale security emergency. It demanded immediate, visible, and coordinated measures to dismantle “one-chance” syndicates, including intensified intelligence gathering, surveillance, policing of transport corridors, and targeted operations against known criminal networks.

The NBA also insisted on thorough, transparent, and time-bound investigations into the killings, warning that failure to deliver justice would deepen public fear and embolden criminal elements. It emphasized that justice must not only be promised but must be seen to be done, with perpetrators, collaborators, and enablers identified, arrested, and prosecuted.

Reaffirming the state’s duty to protect lives, the association said citizens should not have to choose between earning a living and staying alive. It warned that Abuja must not become a hunting ground where criminals prey on the vulnerable while law enforcement appears distant or reactive.

The NBA extended condolences to the families of the victims, the healthcare community, the NBA Abuja Branch, and residents of the FCT. The killings have reignited public debate over safety in Nigeria’s capital, raising urgent questions about urban security, policing, public transport safety, and government accountability in protecting citizens from organized street crime.

  • Is Ondo’s Governor Above the Law? Outrage as Commissioner Decorates Gov Aiyedatiwa at Public Event Despite Court Order for Her Arrest

Is the rule of law being deliberately undermined in Ondo State, and why was a commissioner facing a court-ordered arrest allowed to appear publicly with the governor?

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has come under intense public criticism after his Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Seun Osamaye, was seen participating in an official state event and decorating him with the 2026 National Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem, despite a subsisting court order directing her arrest and remand.

The controversy stems from a ruling delivered on December 31, 2025, by a Magistrate Court in Ondo State, which ordered the arrest and imprisonment of Mrs Osamaye over allegations of assault, intimidation, and threats against a serving Chief Magistrate, Mrs Temitope Alphonso. According to court records, the commissioner was accused of verbally and physically confronting the magistrate during an official visit to the Ministry of Women Affairs following a judgment that was reportedly unfavourable to her.

Public outrage erupted after photographs of the commissioner at Wednesday’s event circulated on social media. Legal commentators noted that no court order had vacated or overturned the ruling, and that the magistrates’ indefinite strike in Ondo State made it impossible for any judicial review to have lawfully taken place. “The order remains valid and enforceable,” one observer said, describing the public appearance as “a slap on the judiciary.”

Critics questioned how a public official facing a lawful arrest order could be allowed to take part in a high-profile state function—especially one honouring the governor, who is constitutionally bound to uphold the law. “How can a governor permit an appointee who ought to be in custody to decorate him in public?” one source asked, calling the episode “a show of shame” and evidence of “disrespect and disregard for the rule of law.”

Court documents allege that Mrs Osamaye verbally abused and threatened Magistrate Alphonso, reportedly telling her to “shut up,” referring to her as “a mere magistrate,” and boasting that even the Chief Judge of Ondo State could not challenge her authority. The affidavit further claims she issued threats suggesting the magistrate could be made to “go missing,” actions described as intimidation and abuse of political influence.

Mrs Osamaye failed to appear in court on the hearing date. Her counsel submitted a medical report claiming she was receiving treatment, but the presiding magistrate, Mr Damilola Sekoni, rejected the document for lacking essential details. He subsequently ordered her arrest and remand, citing what he described as a clear disregard for the authority of the court, and adjourned the matter to January 12.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Akure Branch, has since called on Governor Aiyedatiwa to suspend the commissioner to allow her face prosecution without interference. The NBA warned that the alleged conduct, if proven, constitutes a direct attack on judicial independence and a dangerous erosion of public confidence in the justice system.

The episode has raised urgent questions:
Did the Ondo State Government knowingly disregard a valid court order?
What message does this send about accountability and equality before the law?
And can public trust in the judiciary survive when court directives appear openly defied?

As legal bodies demand action and citizens express outrage, the controversy has become a critical test of rule of law, separation of powers, and democratic accountability in Ondo State.

  • Ambrose Alli University Students Protest Rising Kidnappings in Ekpoma, Demand Urgent Action on Insecurity in Edo State

Students of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, on Monday staged a peaceful protest over the increasing cases of kidnapping and insecurity in the university town, located in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State. The demonstrators said their action was prompted by growing fear within the AAU community, which they claim has witnessed repeated abductions in recent weeks.

According to the protesters, the decision to take to the streets followed the recent abduction of a student identified as Akhabhe Favour, as well as the kidnapping of an unnamed former students’ union leader. Speaking during the protest, Andrew Oziegbe, who led the demonstration, said the aim was to compel security agencies and government authorities to take decisive action to address the worsening security situation.

Oziegbe described the response of relevant authorities as inadequate, warning that continued inaction could further endanger students and residents of Ekpoma. He stressed that students were living in fear and could no longer remain silent in the face of persistent insecurity.

However, the management of Ambrose Alli University distanced itself from the protest. In a statement issued by the institution’s Principal Assistant Registrar and Head of Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Otunba Mike Ade Aladenika, the university said it neither authorised nor endorsed the demonstration. The school claimed that those involved were not registered students, members of the Students’ Union Government, or affiliated with the university in any capacity.

The university further warned that any unauthorised actions carried out in its name would attract appropriate measures, adding that it would take steps to protect its interests and maintain order. The protest highlights growing concerns over security in Ekpoma and renewed calls for urgent intervention by security agencies and government authorities to curb kidnappings in the area.

  • Scandal Hits NJC Judicial Interview Panel as Nepotism Allegations Emerge After Member’s Daughter, Other ‘Insider Candidates’ Named for Judicial Appointments

Public controversy has erupted over the composition of a key National Judicial Council (NJC) interview panel following allegations of nepotism and insider dealing in the selection of candidates for judicial appointments. Judicial sources told SaharaReporters that the panel was constituted in a manner that allegedly favours connected candidates, raising serious concerns about fairness, transparency, and conflict of interest.

According to the sources, the interview panel is chaired by Justice Inyang Okoro of the Supreme Court. Allegations have emerged that a foster child and research assistant of Justice Okoro is being positioned as the preferred candidate from Akwa Ibom State. Further concerns were raised after retired Supreme Court Justice Kumai Bayang Akaahs was reportedly named to replace another panel member, despite claims that his daughter is an “insider candidate” from Kaduna State and is among those to be interviewed.

Other members of the panel include retired Supreme Court justices Mary Ukaego Peter-Odili and Bode Rhodes-Vivour, former Court of Appeal Justice Adeola Moshood, as well as current and former Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) presidents Afam Osigwe and Yakubu Maikyau. While their inclusion adds institutional weight, critics argue it does not sufficiently address the alleged conflicts of interest.

Human rights lawyer and former NHRC chairman, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, publicly condemned the situation, stating that allowing a panel member to interview his own daughter violates basic principles of conflict of interest and undermines the credibility of the judicial appointment process.

The allegations have sparked widespread debate among legal practitioners, civil society groups, and the public, with many warning that perceived insider dealing within the judiciary could erode public confidence in Nigeria’s justice system. Observers are calling on the NJC to ensure strict adherence to transparency, impartiality, and ethical standards in the selection of judicial officers.

  • Tinubu’s Legal Practitioners Bill Targets Capture of Nigeria’s Bar, Undermines Independence and Punishes NBA, Chidi Odinkalu Warns

In this opinion piece, human rights lawyer and former chairman of Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission, Chidi Anselm Odinkalu, delivers a scathing critique of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Legal Practitioners Bill, warning that it represents institutional capture, legislative reprisal, and a grave threat to the independence of Nigeria’s legal profession.

Odinkalu traces the origins of the proposed law to long-standing efforts to reform the Legal Practitioners Act of 1962, noting that despite widespread agreement on the need for modernization, deep divisions within the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the Body of Benchers (BoB) derailed genuine reform. He argues that the new bill, now moving swiftly through the Senate, abandons the original vision of strengthening regulation in the public interest and instead concentrates power in the hands of a government-dominated Body of Benchers.

According to Odinkalu, the bill effectively transforms the BoB into a supreme regulator and owner of the legal profession, funded by the federal government and dominated by political office holders, senior judges, and government officials. He warns that this structure subordinates the NBA, erodes professional self-regulation, and compromises the independence of lawyers by placing discipline, admissions, and professional privileges under a body closely tied to the ruling government.

The article also highlights what Odinkalu describes as acts of reprisal, including the exclusion of the NBA president from the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee unless they are a Senior Advocate of Nigeria — a move he links directly to the election of a non-SAN NBA president in 2020. He further criticises provisions granting the BoB oversight over the conferment and withdrawal of the SAN rank, arguing that this entrenches unaccountable power and shields elites from discipline.

Odinkalu contends that the bill’s ambitions are both unrealistic and dangerous, particularly its attempt to assert control over legal services connected to Nigeria even beyond its borders, and its tone-deaf treatment of foreign and dual-qualified Nigerian lawyers. He concludes that if passed in its current form, the Legal Practitioners Bill will not reform the profession but instead create a new class of “super lawyers” whose influence will be built on access and power rather than integrity, marking a tragic failure of a long-overdue reform effort.

  • Nigerian Students Set January 14 for Nationwide Mass Protest as NANS Moves to Resist Tinubu’s Controversial Tax Reform Laws Amid Growing Opposition

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has fixed January 14, 2026, as a National Day of Action to stage a mass protest against the implementation of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s new tax laws, which came into effect on January 1, 2026. The student body has begun nationwide mobilisation, warning that it will lead large-scale demonstrations unless the government suspends the controversial Tax Reform Law.

The planned protest comes amid increasing resistance to the new tax regime, following claims of discrepancies between the versions of the tax bills passed by the National Assembly and those later gazetted. Several stakeholders, including the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and the minority caucus of the House of Representatives, have called on the federal government to halt the implementation pending clarification.

Despite these concerns, President Tinubu has dismissed calls for suspension, insisting that no major issues have been identified to warrant stopping the reform process. Reacting to the government’s stance, NANS President Olushola Oladoja criticised the decision to proceed with enforcement while key issues remain unresolved, describing it as dismissive of public concerns and democratic engagement.

Oladoja argued that enforcing the tax law without addressing widespread objections undermines transparency and public trust, particularly for policies that significantly affect ordinary Nigerians. He further faulted the Presidency for reaffirming the January 1 commencement date, saying it sidelines citizens most impacted by the reforms.

As part of its action plan, NANS has instructed its structures nationwide to prepare for a peaceful protest in Abuja, with students expected to converge at the Unity Fountain and march to the Presidential Villa. The association is demanding an immediate suspension of the tax law’s implementation to allow for proper review and resolution of the alleged inconsistencies.

NANS warned that failure to heed its demand could trigger sustained student-led protests across the country, adding to mounting pressure on the federal government over the contentious tax reforms.

  • Nicki Minaj Faces Backlash, Loses Followers After Speaking On Christian Persecution In Nigeria At Turning Point USA Event

American rap superstar Nicki Minaj has sparked widespread controversy and social media backlash following her surprise appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, where she spoke on faith, politics, and global issues, including the persecution of Christians in Nigeria. Minaj appeared alongside conservative activist Erika Kirk and used the platform to praise former U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance for what she described as their efforts in raising global awareness about violence against Christians, particularly in Nigeria.

Her remarks immediately triggered mixed reactions online. While some supporters commended her for drawing attention to religious persecution and amplifying the plight of Nigerian Christians—an issue she has previously addressed at international forums—others expressed strong opposition. Critics, especially from her progressive and LGBTQ+ fanbase, accused Minaj of aligning with conservative politics and abandoning communities that have long supported her career. Viral clips and posts alleging that she had “gone MAGA” intensified the backlash across multiple platforms.

The controversy quickly spilled into Minaj’s social media presence, with reports indicating that her Instagram account was deactivated shortly after the event. Viral claims suggested she lost up to 10 million followers, although independent checks indicate that the figure may be exaggerated, with some reports pointing to a smaller decline or noting that the account may have been inactive prior to the event.

The debate has drawn reactions from fellow artists, public figures, and commentators, with opinions sharply divided between those defending her right to speak on matters of faith and global violence, and those criticising what they see as a political and ideological shift. The Turning Point USA event itself has also attracted scrutiny, reflecting broader debates about celebrity involvement in politically charged causes.

Earlier in November, Minaj had spoken at a United Nations event hosted by the U.S. Mission, where she also highlighted alleged violence against Christians in Nigeria. That appearance marked the beginning of heightened public attention on her growing advocacy for religious freedom, a stance that continues to provoke both support and criticism worldwide.

  • NBA Demands Immediate Suspension Of Nigeria’s Tax Reform Laws, Calls For Probe Over Alleged Alteration

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has demanded the immediate suspension of the implementation of Nigeria’s newly enacted Tax Reform Acts, citing serious legal, procedural, and constitutional concerns surrounding their passage.
In a statement signed by its President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, the NBA warned that controversies trailing the laws threaten the integrity of Nigeria’s legislative process and undermine public confidence in democratic institutions. The association said the manner in which the Tax Reform Acts were enacted raises troubling questions about transparency, accountability, and due process within the National Assembly.
Pending a comprehensive, open, and transparent investigation into the alleged alteration and procedural irregularities, the NBA insisted that enforcing the laws would deepen legal and policy uncertainty, erode investor confidence, destabilise the economy, and weaken the rule of law. The association urged relevant authorities to act swiftly in the interest of constitutional order, economic stability, and lawful governance.

  • KWAM 1 vs Governor Dapo Abiodun: Ogun High Court Dismisses Fuji Star’s Bid to Stop Awujale Selection Process, Orders Accelerated Hearing

An Ogun State High Court sitting in Ijebu-Ode has dismissed an application filed by renowned Fuji musician, Otunba Wasiu Olasunkanmi Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM 1, seeking to halt the selection process of a new Awujale of Ijebuland. The court, presided over by Justice A. A. Omoniyi, ruled that the application lacked merit and declined to grant an interim injunction stopping the process. KWAM 1 had challenged the dominance of the Fusengbuwa ruling house in producing the next Awujale, arguing that the process violated Ogun State chieftaincy laws and his constitutional rights as a member of the Fidipote ruling house. While denying the injunction, the court ordered an accelerated hearing of the substantive suit, now scheduled for January 14, 2026. The case has intensified public debate over traditional succession, royal lineage, and state involvement in chieftaincy matters in Ogun State.

  • Buhari, Osinbajo and the Politics of Posthumous Truth: How Death, Biography and Power Are Rewriting Nigeria’s Political History

This opinion piece examines how posthumous narratives surrounding the late former President Muhammadu Buhari are reshaping public understanding of his eight-year partnership with former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. Triggered by revelations in a newly launched Buhari biography and comments attributed to Aisha Buhari, the article questions claims that Buhari never supported Osinbajo’s 2023 presidential ambition. Drawing on documented public records, speeches, and governance decisions, the writer argues that posthumous “truths” often emerge without balance, context, or the possibility of rebuttal, turning silence into political currency. The piece warns that such narratives reveal more about present power struggles than historical reality, highlighting how death has become an open marketplace for convenient political storytelling in Nigeria.

  • NBA Insists Corruption Probe Must Continue Despite NMDPRA CEO Farouk Ahmed’s Resignation

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has stated that the resignation of Farouk Ahmed, CEO of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), should not halt the ongoing corruption investigation against him. NBA President Afam Osigwe (SAN) emphasized that allegations of forgery, false asset declarations, and other serious misconduct must be fully investigated to uphold accountability and strengthen public institutions. He warned that allowing officials to resign without scrutiny undermines governance, erodes public trust, and entrenches a culture of impunity. Osigwe stressed that resignation does not equate to exoneration, and credible investigations must continue regardless of political or administrative convenience.

  • Troops of the Nigerian Army deployed in Taraba State have recovered weapons and the corpse of a slain soldier during ongoing search-and-rescue (SAR) operations following an ambush on their patrol team in Takum Local Government Area.

Zagazola gathered that the operation followed an earlier attack on troops at Tyojande village, Takum LGA, which resulted in casualties, the Army said in an operational update on Tuesday.

According to the sources , troops acting on intelligence provided by locals in Kufai Amadu on Dec. 17 advanced to the general area of Tyojande where the ambush occurred.

During the operation, troops made contact with armed elements near Ange village, about two kilometres from the location where the corpse of a killed soldier was later found.

The sources said the troops’ superior firepower forced the assailants to abandon their positions and flee into thick vegetation, using cattle as cover before escaping towards nearby mountainous terrain. A hot pursuit ensued, leading to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, one additional item, and three empty magazines concealed at different locations within the area.

The troops subsequently advanced on foot through Tyojande and Yumga villages, and later projected force to Ande and Nbaume communities, all within Kufai Amadu axis of Takum LGA, where no further contact was made.

The source confirmed the recovery of the corpse of Late Lance Corporal in the Tyojande general area. Search-and-rescue operations, the Army added, are ongoing to locate one soldier still missing.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to sustaining operations to account for all personnel and to deny criminal elements freedom of action in the area.
