  • Awgbu Man Defends Agaba Masquerade’s Actions as Police Confirm Arrest

An Awgbu indigene has defended the actions of the Agaba masquerade following a recent confrontation with Onowu Ugonabo, arguing that the incident was rooted in cultural disrespect. According to him, Ugonabo, who is also a traditionalist, should have known better than to challenge the Agaba masquerade, as it goes against the customs and traditions of their people.

He questioned why some individuals respect cultural practices like the Eyo Festival in Lagos but return home to undermine their own traditions. “We are from the same place, so I expected him to know better,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the Agaba masquerade in connection with the incident, as investigations continue.

  • An Occultic Group In My Village Is Behind My Alleged Viral Naked Video Bishop Ndubueze Claims.

Speaking with newsmen in Abakaliki, Bishop Ndubueze said trouble began after he criticized a local cultic group known as the Omabe masquerade on his community’s WhatsApp platform.
    Sam Onyeagoziri Ndubueze
The General Overseer of Champion Cathedral, Abakaliki, Professor Bishop Sam Onyeagoziri Ndubueze, has alleged that an occult group from his community is orchestrating a campaign of blackmail and intimidation against him after he openly condemned their activities.

Speaking with newsmen in Abakaliki, Bishop Ndubueze said trouble began after he criticized a local cultic group known as the Omabe masquerade on his community’s WhatsApp platform.

According to him, members of the group began threatening to “deal with” him soon after his post went viral.

He explained that on September 1, 2025, his phones were stolen in Abakaliki. Initially, he said, he did not connect the theft to the threats.

“I reported first to the Onicha Development Union chairman, Chief Engineer Chijoke Ikeagwu, who helped me block my accounts. The following day, I went to the Crack Department of the Nigeria Police, Ebonyi State Command, and officially documented my complaint,” he said.

Bishop Ndubueze alleged that shortly after his report, he received a phone call from unknown persons demanding ₦10 million to suppress damaging information they claimed to have about him.

“They told me if I didn’t comply, they would send me packing from Abakaliki because of my stand against their masquerade. When I tried to trace the number, it turned out to be an unregistered line,” he added.

The cleric further revealed that not long after the threats, doctored nude photographs allegedly involving him began circulating on WhatsApp and Facebook.

  • Three killed as cult clash disrupts masquerade festival in Lagos Island.

At least three people were killed during violent clashes that erupted at a masquerade festival in the Lagos Island area of Lagos State.

Although the exact trigger of the killings remains uncertain, accounts suggest that the event was hijacked by suspected cult members, turning what began as a cultural celebration into a bloody supremacy battle.

Residents said the violence broke out shortly after the festival ended, spiraling into chaos.

“We had just finished the festival when a fight broke out among some boys suspected to be cultists.

“They started hurling bottles and brandishing weapons. Nobody could intervene, everyone simply ran for safety,” a community member narrated under anonymity.

Videos circulating online showed suspected cultists engaging in heavy gunfire along Lagos Street. In one clip, at least five gunshots rang out, while another showed a group of assailants brutally beating a victim.

Another resident, who identified himself as Kazeem, said the unrest stretched late into the night.

“The fight started in the evening and continued until midnight. Many of us couldn’t sleep because of the noise and the destruction,” he recounted.
