Senator Okey Ezea, representing Enugu North, has died following complications from diabetes.
Although earlier reports said he passed away in the UK, family sources revealed he actually died in Lagos after doctors amputated one of his legs in an effort to save his life. He reportedly died during a skin graft procedure on the amputated limb.

His colleagues in the Senate, including Orji Uzor Kalu and Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, have paid emotional tributes, describing him as a wise, gentle, and supportive figure.

Born in 1963, Ezea co-founded the APC in Enugu, contested for governor in 2015, later chaired the Federal Medical Centre Jalingo board, and eventually joined the Labour Party in 2022, winning the Enugu North Senate seat in 2023.

Obi, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, expressed disappointment that players representing Nigeria were being owed allowances despite their consistent service to the nation.

“It is truly unfortunate that our Super Eagles who consistently give their best in representing our dear nation, are being owed their allowances,” he wrote.

The entire Enugu State caucus in the House of Representatives has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). 

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the move during Thursday’s plenary after reading their resignation letters from the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). 

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, was present during the announcement.

The lawmakers cited unresolved internal crises within their former parties as the reason for their exit. After the 2023 elections, LP held seven of the eight House seats in Enugu, while the PDP had one. With this defection, the APC now controls all Enugu seats in the House.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Nnolim Nnaji (Nkanu East/Nkanu West) said the lawmakers chose to align with Governor Mbah’s development agenda and to connect Enugu more closely with the federal government.

He said their decision was aimed at securing more projects, jobs, infrastructure, and empowerment opportunities for Enugu communities, adding that the move was strategic and deliberate.

Other lawmakers who defected include Martins Oke, Anayo Onwuegbu, Nnamdi Agbo, and Mark Obetta. In a separate development, Daniel Asama (Bassa/Jos North) also left LP for the APC.

Addressing a gathering of young people during the Golden Health Conference held at the Archbishop Patterson Auditorium, All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha on Saturday, he described internet fraudsters popularly called Yahoo boys as “geniuses who need redirection.”

The conference, themed “Money Beyond Wealth,” brought together students, professionals, and youth leaders to discuss the moral, social, and economic dimensions of wealth creation.

Obi, while speaking during the event, stated that only money gotten through ethical means can be described as real wealth.

He said, “Money becomes real wealth only when it is earned through ethical means and used to uplift both the individual and society in an edifying manner.”

Obi observed that despite the fraudsters moral misdirection, many of them possess rare intelligence and creativity that, if properly guided, could drive innovation and national development.

“Looking at what they do, there is no doubt that many of them are geniuses. The challenge before us as a society is to redirect them, to channel their ingenuity into productive ventures that will not only dignify them but also edify society,” he said

Lamenting the state of moral decay in the country, Obi attributed much of it to leadership failure and the bad examples set by those in power.

Court Approves Prosecution Of Tinubu’s Minister, Onyejeocha For Alleged Forgery.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, member representing Isikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency of Abia State, leave to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to prosecute the Minister of State for Labour, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, over alleged forgery of election results.

Justice M.G. Umar, in a ruling delivered on September 23, 2025, on an ex parte motion filed by Ogah, held that the lawmaker had provided sufficient material evidence in his affidavit to justify the court’s decision.

Onyejeocha, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had dragged Ogah of the Labour Party (LP) to the National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, claiming victory at the 2023 general elections.

However, Ogah alleged that Onyejeocha tendered forged results at the tribunal to back her claims, a case she eventually lost.

In April, Onyejeocha, through a media aide, dismissed the allegations as false, insisting they had been settled. “All the allegations in the petition are false. They are not only false, but they have been trashed out long ago,” she said.

Ogah, however, proceeded to the Federal High Court, urging it to grant him leave to seek an Order of Mandamus compelling INEC to investigate and prosecute Onyejeocha for forgery.

He alleged that after he was declared the winner by INEC, “Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha forged the results in respect of the polling units listed, whose results were tendered during the trial of the petition at the Election Tribunal to prove the allegations contained in the petition.

“That Hon. Nkeiruka Chidubem Onyejeocha forged Exhibit 3 and passed them off as the official election results and documents of the respondent, and the respondent vehemently disputed the authenticity of Exhibit 3 during the trial of the Election Petition.

Gov Otti Sends Warning to Those Planning to Rig 2027 Abia Governorship Election.

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has warned against attempts to manipulate the 2027 gubernatorial election results.

Speaking on Thursday at the Government House, Umuahia, during the October edition of Alex Otti Speaks to Abians, the governor cautioned those planning to rig the election to “write their wills” first.

Otti’s remarks came in response to comments attributed to Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who had declared that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), would take over Abia in 2027.

While acknowledging Kalu’s right to contest the election, Otti emphasised that all candidates must play by the rules.

“I’ve heard some people say they must take over this state and manipulate results.

“My advice is simple, if they truly want to write results, they should first write their wills. That’s their choice,” he said.

Describing Kalu as a friend and younger brother, the governor added that he had forgiven him for past criticisms of his administration, stressing the need to maintain peace and decorum in Abia.

Otti also used the platform to reaffirm that he has no intention of joining the APC and remains a committed member of the Labour Party.

Obi, during a visit to LEA Primary School in Kapwa on Wednesday, had described the school’s condition as “a national disgrace” and a reflection of Nigeria’s “empty commitment to education,” lamenting the lack of chairs, toilets, and other basic facilities.

But in a fiery reaction, Wike accused Obi of politicising everything and using emotional public appearances to attract online sympathy.

“I hear one of the social media presidential candidates visited a local school and claimed the government had abandoned public education. His name is Mr Peter Obi. It’s not everything you must play politics with,” Wike said.

He also questioned Obi’s record as Anambra governor, alleging that he failed to complete key projects during his eight-year tenure and even clashed with his successor.

“Peter Obi, you governed Anambra for eight years. If you had done everything right, no one would still be talking about developing the state today. Why did you even fall out with your successor?” he asked.

Wike went on to boast that he had achieved more in two years as FCT Minister than Obi did in eight years as governor.

“We’ve been in office for just two years, not even four yet. Compare our work in the FCT with your eight years in Anambra, can you truly say you love this country or your people? Certainly not,” he said.

He further dismissed Obi’s presidential ambitions, claiming that someone who could not manage a political party was unfit to lead a nation.

“You will continue to contest as President on social media, not as President of Nigeria. You couldn’t even manage your own party. How can you manage a country of over 200 million people? It’s not available for people like you,” Wike declared.

Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan has reacted after he was asked if he has ever represented the former governor of Anambra state and Labour Party, LP, candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Gregory Obi, in a legal case.
