  • NANS Issues 24-Hour Ultimatum Over Sowore’s Arrest, Threatens Nationwide Protest

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has strongly condemned the arrest, detention, and alleged molestation of African Action Congress (AAC) 2023 presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.

In a Friday statement, NANS President, Comrade Atiku Isah, described Sowore as a fearless voice against corruption and a mentor to countless young Nigerians, insisting he has contributed more to the country’s progress than any public officer alive today.

The students’ body issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the Inspector General of Police to release Sowore and publicly apologise to him, his family, and supporters — warning that failure to comply would spark a mass nationwide protest.

    > “Sowore does not deserve this treatment. If our demand is not met, we are prepared to take to the streets,” NANS declared.

Meanwhile, another faction of NANS, led by Olusola Ladoja, is reportedly backed by the Bola Tinubu administration.
