• Enugu govt arrests father for alleged defilement of his two daughters.

The Enugu State Government has confirmed the arrest of Mr. Ozioma Okonkwo, a native of Imo State, for allegedly defiling his two biological daughters, aged two and five.

Okonkwo was apprehended on Saturday night, October 25, 2025, following a distress report from a concerned citizen who alerted security authorities. He is currently in police custody and will be charged to court after investigations.

The two children have been placed in a government-approved shelter under the Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development, where they are receiving medical and psychological care. Their mother, said to be deeply traumatized, will also undergo therapy supervised by the ministry’s counseling team.

The government commended the Nigeria Police Force for its swift response and reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy on sexual and gender-based violence, assuring that all offenders will face the full weight of the law.

The Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development condemned the act, describing it as “a heart-wrenching and unacceptable crime against innocence,” and reaffirmed Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s commitment to protecting children and bringing perpetrators to justice.

  • Anambra governorship election: “You’ll suffer” — AAC’s Ifemeludike alleges in new video as she warns Anambra residents against re-electing Governor Soludo.

African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate, Chioma Ifemeludike, has cautioned Anambra residents and alleged that they will “suffer” if they reelect Governor Chukwuma Soludo instead of voting for her in the November 8 election.

The Nollywood actress and producer criticized Soludo over the poor condition of roads in Awka, particularly Uche Ekwunife Crescent, which she described as “totally dilapidated.” She accused the governor of neglecting basic infrastructure while constructing a new Government House with “wide, paved roads for himself and his generations.”

Ifemeludike said Soludo’s administration has failed to deliver good governance or quality social amenities, claiming he is only interested in showmanship. “If you miss out, you will suffer for it because Soludo is not ready to provide real leadership,” she said.

In a Facebook post directed at the governor, she asked, “@ccsoludo, why are you afraid to repair the capital city’s bad roads? Awka shouldn’t look so rural and undeveloped. With FAAC, local allocations, and IGR, we should have Dubai/Taiwan-style infrastructure.”

She urged voters not to be deceived but to come out en masse to make a better choice on election day. “On November 8, you have a choice — and that choice is Chioma for governor 2025,” she declared.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed that 16 political parties will participate in the Anambra governorship election.

  • "Stop Using Unemployed Youths to Disrupt Elections" — Sen. Oshiomhole Warns Politicians.

Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has urged politicians and lawmakers to stop recruiting unemployed youths to disrupt elections, warning that such practices fuel post-election insecurity.

Speaking during Wednesday’s plenary, the former Edo State governor said violence has no place in democracy and blamed political actors for empowering thugs during elections.

“After every election, violent crimes rise because politicians who armed hungry youths can’t retrieve the weapons. Those arms are then used for robbery and other crimes,” he said.

Oshiomhole recalled warning fellow governors years ago that AK-47 rifles were not items just anyone could afford, implying that only influential figures could sponsor electoral violence.

He emphasized the need for sincerity among politicians, urging them to allow Nigerians to “hire and fire without fear” through credible elections. “If we truly commit to eliminating violence, we will have free, fair, and transparent elections,” he said.

The senator added that the true beauty of democracy lies not in holding office but in earning the people’s trust. “If you rig or manipulate elections, deep in your heart, you know you’re not a happy person,” he noted.

Oshiomhole also cautioned against conducting presidential, governorship, and National Assembly elections on the same day and called for vigilance against hackers as Nigeria deepens its use of election technology.

He concluded, “We, as senators and elected officials, must resolve never to arm or use unemployed youths to disrupt elections. Once we stop that, 90 percent of our electoral problems will be solved.”

  • Drama in Senate as Natasha Confronts Akpabio Over Abortion Debate, Oshiomhole Cites Rule to Stop Her.

There was mild drama during Tuesday’s plenary session in the Nigerian Senate as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan confronted Senate President Godswill Akpabio after being denied the chance to speak on the issue of abortion.

Senator Natasha, visibly displeased, pleaded to be heard, saying, “Mr. Senate President, please may I speak. I’m a woman, and abortion has to do with women it’s very important, sir.”

The Senate President responded that the matter had already been stepped down, but he briefly allowed her to add a comment if necessary.
“This has been stepped down in totality, distinguished senator, but if you have anything to add, you can say,” Akpabio stated.

However, former Edo State governor and senator, Adams Oshiomhole, immediately objected, insisting that parliamentary rules must be respected.

“Mr. President, we’ve been tutored over and over that when a matter has been concluded and you’ve dropped the gavel, if you grant an exception to distinguished Senator Natasha, then you must extend the same extension to us which makes our rule meaningless. The rule should be obeyed. We have said no discussion, and she should obey the rule,” Oshiomhole maintained.

In his final ruling, Akpabio clarified that he did not initially know the nature of Natasha’s intended comment, saying,
“I am not a spirit to know what the senator wants to say. If I knew, I would have referred her to Rule 52, Subsection 6. Since the Senate has come to a conclusion, it shall be out of order.”

He then ruled Senator Natasha out of order, ending the exchange.

  • Reps Reject U.S. Senate’s Genocide Claim Against Christians in Nigeria.

The House of Representatives has dismissed the U.S. Senate’s claim describing Nigeria’s insecurity as genocide against Christians or state-sponsored persecutiom, saying it misrepresents the country’s true situation.

The decision followed a motion by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, titled “Urgent Need for a Coordinated Diplomatic and Domestic Response to the Proposed Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act of 2025 (U.S. Senate Bill S.2747)”.

Kalu said the U.S. bill, introduced on September 9, 2025, which seeks to label Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” and impose sanctions under the Global Magnitsky Act, is based on incomplete assessments.

He stressed that Nigeria’s Constitution guarantees freedom of religion and that insecurity is multi-causal, driven by insurgency, banditry, separatism, and communal clashes—not religion.

Lawmakers warned that the U.S. claim could undermine Nigeria’s sovereignty and strain diplomatic ties. Julius Ihonvbere called for swift diplomatic engagement, while Oluwole Oke described the claim as a “deliberate attempt to damage Nigeria’s image.”

The House reaffirmed constitutional religious freedom, condemned all forms of violence, and rejected the U.S. Senate’s portrayal of Nigeria’s crisis.

It also directed the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Nigerian Embassy in Washington to lodge a diplomatic protest and present factual data to U.S. and international bodies.

  • Atiku’s Aide Fires Back at Oshiomhole: “You’re Consumed by Fear and Hate”

Paul Ibe, media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has fired back at Senator Adams Oshiomhole over his recent comments describing Atiku as being “consumed by politics.”

Oshiomhole made the remark during an appearance on Channels Television over the weekend while reacting to Atiku’s criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s trip to Plateau State for the burial of the mother of APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.

Atiku had slammed Tinubu for showing “a lack of empathy” toward Nigerians facing killings across the country while attending a social event.

    Responding, Oshiomhole said:

“I have sympathy for Atiku. He has allowed himself to be consumed by politics.”

But in a swift and fiery response on Tuesday, Paul Ibe accused Oshiomhole of hypocrisy and fear of Atiku’s political influence.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Ibe wrote:

“I have sympathy for Oshiomhole. He is tailoring sycophancy with a designer touch and has allowed himself to be consumed by the hate and fear of @atiku.”

The exchange has since ignited reactions online, with many Nigerians weighing in on the ongoing political rivalry between the camps of Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu.

  • Oshiomhole Is Part Of The Problem In Nigeria’ Yusuf Blasts NASS Over Failure To Checkmate Tinubu.

Former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Usman Yusuf, has slammed the senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, over his comment on the insecurity in the North.

Oshiomhole had recently stated that the insecurity in the North was tied to the activities of illegal mining in the region, stressing that top personnel were using choppers to carry out gold from the area.

Reacting to the remark, Yusuf, in an interview with Punch, opined that the former Governor of Edo State was part of the problem in Nigeria.

Taking a swipe at the 10th National Assembly, Yusuf said the lawmakers have failed to checkmate President Bola Tinubu, despite the violation of the constitution.

According to Yusuf, the 10th National Assembly is the most docile National Assembly since the beginning of democratic rule, adding that they never stopped anything, but were only interested in earning salaries without doing anything.

He said, “Adams Oshiomhole doesn’t know anything about the level of insecurity in the North, and he is part of the problem in Nigeria. The 10th National Assembly is a do-nothing National Assembly. They have allowed the President free rein without checking him.

“He gets loans from all over the place, and this is going to cripple the lives of our grandchildren. They never checkmated him. If Senator Adams Oshiomhole wants to grandstand and be in the newspapers, he is welcome. But he is as much a problem for this country as the President is.

“The 10th National Assembly is the most docile National Assembly we’ve had since the beginning of democratic rule. They never stopped anything, and all they are interested in is seeing an alert and doing nothing. They don’t ask the questions on behalf of the constituents who elected them. The whole 10th National Assembly is a failure.

“They have failed Nigerians because they are not checkmating this President. He is doing whatever he likes, violating the constitution in his appointments. Section 14(3) and 14(4) of the Constitution call for the President to ensure that whatever he does reflects the federal character. This is not what the President is doing, and nobody is asking him.

You don’t hear any senator, including Senator Adams, telling the President that his government is cruel. He is not running this nation with the milk of human kindness.”

An exclusive video obtained by SaharaReporters shows a woman named Leavitt Felix caught impersonating Sarah Enoch Adi, the Taraba State Commissioner for Finance, during an ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) examination.

In the footage, exam supervisors confront Felix, who admits to writing the exam for Adi. Although she initially claimed she didn’t know Adi personally and was contracted by someone named "Joshua," her statements contradicted system records linking her to the Ministry of Finance. Supervisors threatened police involvement if she didn't provide full disclosure.

This scandal adds to growing calls for Adi's removal from office, following an August 2025 protest by civil servants. Workers accused her and the Accountant General of mismanaging a biometric verification exercise that removed over 7,000 legitimate workers from the payroll.

Adi, appointed in August 2023, holds multiple academic qualifications, including a Doctorate in Accounting from Nasarawa State University (2023). Despite her credentials, the impersonation incident and prior controversies have cast serious doubts on her professional integrity.

  • Police to commence nationwide enforcement of tinted glass permits October 2.

The Jigawa State Police Command has announced that enforcement of tinted glass permits will begin across Nigeria on October 2, 2025.

This was revealed in a statement issued in Dutse by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, on Saturday.

Adam explained that online registration and application for the permits is already ongoing, urging motorists to carefully follow the outlined procedure on possap.gov.ng for a seamless process.

Applicants, he said, are required to create an account using their NIN, BVN, or TIN, verify their account via email, then log in to select the “Tinted Glass Permit” service and upload vehicle details with supporting documents.

“Applicants must carefully confirm all details before submitting their requests and making payments as directed on the portal,” SP Adam emphasised, advising accuracy for quicker processing.

He added that once applications are submitted, vehicle inspection and fingerprint biometric capturing will be scheduled at designated Police Intelligence Departments. For Jigawa applicants, he confirmed that biometric capturing would be done free of charge at the State Intelligence Department, Police Headquarters, Dutse.

Adam also cautioned against dealing with middlemen or unauthorised persons seeking to exploit applicants.

“This initiative promotes transparency and ensures road safety for all,” the PPRO said, stressing the command’s commitment to accountability.

The statement urged full public cooperation to ensure smooth enforcement and enhance road safety, while also warning that non-compliance could have legal consequences.

“Those planning to apply are advised to begin registration promptly ahead of the enforcement date,” SP Adam stated.

  • FG Disburses N330bn to 8.5m poor Households Finance Minister, Wale Edun.

The Federal Government has disbursed N330 billion in cash transfers to 8.5 million poor and vulnerable households under its renewed social protection programme.

Finance Minister Wale Edun, speaking in Abuja, said the initiative resumed after earlier delays caused by integrating biometric data with the National Identity Number (NIN).

He noted that 8.5 million of the targeted 15 million households have received at least one tranche of the N25,000 monthly payment, with some getting up to three. Each is expected to receive three tranches, while the remaining 7 million households will be paid before year-end.

“This safety net to help people cope with rising prices is now firmly back on track,” Edun said, adding that it lays the foundation for a modern social protection system promised by President Tinubu.

Funmi Olotu, head of the National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO), explained that shifting to digital disbursements tied to NIN verification slowed payments but was key for transparency. “Mr President said no more traditional payments pay directly into accounts,” she said.

Over 10.2 million NINs have been collected, with 9.6 million verified by NIMC.

She added that the programme uses the National Social Register (NSR), which holds data on over 70 million Nigerians in 19.7 million households, built with World Bank support using 40 socioeconomic indicators. “The NSR is not political. Neither the Minister nor the President can add names,” she stressed.

An executive order now mandates that all government interventions draw from the NSR.

The conditional cash transfer scheme, launched by President Tinubu on October 17, 2023, targets 15 million households as part of efforts to cushion hardship and reduce inequality.

  • Deeone Sparks Drama as He Compares Mr Eazi & Temi Otedola’s $14M Wedding to Davido & Chioma’s $6M Ceremony

Former Big Brother Naija star, Aderombi Adedayo Martin, better known as Deeone, has stirred heated debate online after comparing the luxurious weddings of Mr Eazi & Temi Otedola to that of Davido & Chioma.

In a video shared on Instagram, the comedian alleged that Mr Eazi’s fairy-tale wedding to billionaire daughter Temi Otedola cost a staggering $14 million, spread across Monaco, Dubai, and Iceland.

He contrasted this with Davido and Chioma’s lavish Miami wedding, which he estimated at around $6 million. According to him, the Otedola-Ajibade ceremony pulled in some of Africa’s most powerful figures, including Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu, cementing its place as a global-class event.

While acknowledging the Adeleke family’s wealth, Deeone maintained they cannot rival the financial muscle of the Otedolas and Mr Eazi’s circle.

Taking a swipe at Davido’s camp, especially Cubana Chiefpriest, he mocked those who once chanted “Money na Water” but have now gone quiet in the face of superior affluence.

Deeone wrapped up by urging Nigerians to air their views freely since both weddings were public spectacles, reminding people not to compare themselves to others:
“Where some people’s money ends, another person’s money begins.”

    Social Media Reactions

As expected, fans didn’t hold back:

@gycvbnbnb: “Coming from somebody who doesn’t have complete 10m.”

@rita_iziegbe: “I just pity for you, Davido go use you as scapegoat soon.”

@oluwa_sharonn: “Both families can afford each type of wedding. What matters is that they got what they wanted.”

@mummy_awonboiz: “Mr Eazi’s classy wedding will teach Davido that empty barrels make the loudest noise.”

@champagnepapisbabe: “Davido is the blueprint; everyone talks about him to trend.”
