• Benue Assembly Backs Governor Alia, Speaker Dajoh with Vote of Confidence

    The Benue State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its support for Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia and Speaker Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, passing a vote of confidence on both leaders during Wednesday’s plenary session.

    The motion, raised by Douglas Akya of Makurdi South Constituency, praised the governor for respecting the rule of law and acting swiftly on the Assembly’s resolutions. He noted Alia’s dedication to improving the welfare of Benue citizens by addressing the concerns presented to him.

    The lawmakers also applauded Speaker Dajoh’s leadership, commending his role in ensuring the smooth running of the 10th Assembly.

    In a firm statement, the House condemned alleged attempts by “non-state actors” to destabilize the Assembly through moves to impeach the Speaker without just cause. Members declared their unwavering loyalty, stressing that any external interference in the Assembly’s internal affairs would be resisted.

  • Governor Alia Condemns Brutal Killings, Orders Immediate Arrest of Perpetrators Within 48 Hours

    Benue State, Nigeria – Governor Hyacinth Alia has strongly condemned the gruesome killing of two Igede youths along the Awajir-Oju road, as well as a separate violent attack on the Nyifon community in Buruku Local Government Area.

    In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the Governor revealed that the two victims were travelling from Oju on a motorcycle when they were ambushed and murdered in cold blood.

    In a separate incident, youths from Mbayaka community in Kusuv allegedly launched an attack on Nyifon community following a dispute related to a boat mishap. Governor Alia described both attacks as “unfortunate and totally unjustifiable,” stressing that no individual or group has the right to invade or harm another community.

    He has directed security agencies to immediately swing into action, collaborate with traditional rulers, and ensure that the culprits are apprehended within 48 hours.

    Governor Alia reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while urging communities across the state to maintain peace and cooperate with law enforcement during ongoing investigations.
