• Ogun Pastor Says DSS Trailed Him After Criticising Governor Abiodun, Demands Formal Invitation

Pastor Olawoye Kayode of Zion Church, Ijoko, Ogun State, has alleged that DSS operatives are secretly trailing and attempting to intimidate him following his outspoken criticism of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration. According to the cleric, two men claiming to be DSS officers visited his church seeking his whereabouts without presenting any official reason or documentation. After calling the numbers they left behind, he was told the new DSS boss in Ogun wanted to “familiarise” with him — a claim he found suspicious.
Kayode insisted he would only honour an invitation backed by a formal letter and his lawyer’s presence. He also said unmarked black SUVs believed to belong to DSS operatives have been seen around his church. The pastor has repeatedly criticised the state government over poor infrastructure and worsening hardship, asserting that Ogun State has suffered severe neglect. Despite the surveillance, he vowed not to bow to intimidation and demanded proper procedures from the DSS.

  • President Tinubu declares state of emergency on nigeria’s security training institutions.

President bola tinubu has declared a state of emergency on nigeria’s security training facilities, describing their poor state as a threat to the efficiency of the nation’s internal security agencies.

The announcement covers institutions under the nigeria police force (npf), the nigeria security and civil defence corps (nscdc), and other agencies. the development was confirmed by enugu governor peter mbah, who heads the nec ad-hoc committee on security training reforms.

During an inspection in lagos, mbah said the president’s directive followed his october 23 approval for a total overhaul of police and civil defence training centres. “the president recognized the urgent need to restore pride, professionalism, and confidence among our security personnel,” mbah stated.

He noted that the committee, which has 30 days to submit its report, divided into two teams — one led by nasarawa governor abdullahi sule to inspect institutions in the north, and another led by himself in the south. according to him, consultants are assessing what needs to be rebuilt, re-equipped, and modernized.

Mbah explained that the move would establish an intervention fund for rebuilding and digital transformation, adding that tinubu’s approval of 30,000 new police recruits required proper training infrastructure. “we cannot train a 21st-century force using 20th-century systems,” he said, emphasizing the need for digital skills in ai, robotics, and mechatronics.

He stressed that the initiative was proactive and not in reaction to any external comment. “this directive was issued before recent foreign remarks. the president is simply addressing decades of neglect,” he clarified.

Governor dapo abiodun, former igp alkali usman baba, and aig olatunji disu, who oversees the spu, affirmed that the committee’s findings will guide the next phase of comprehensive reforms across nigeria’s security training institutions.

  • ArticlesEnough is Enough: Ogun State is Not a Dictatorship Olushola Babatunde Senbanjo.

We, the good people of Ogun State, stand in total condemnation of the shameful and anti-democratic actions allegedly perpetrated by Governor Dapo Abiodun in the lead-up to the Ogun State bye-election.

It is deeply disturbing, unacceptable, and utterly disgraceful that a sitting governor, one who was elected to serve all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, would stoop so low as to threaten the revered traditional rulers of Remo land, warning of their possible dethronement should the APC fail to win the election in their domains.

Let us be very clear: our royal fathers are not political tools. They are the custodians of our heritage, culture, and identity. Any attempt to coerce, intimidate, or manipulate them for political gain is an affront not just to the Obas themselves, but to every son and daughter of Ogun State.

This reckless statement, represents a clear abuse of power, a betrayal of democratic values, and an insult to the very institutions that uphold peace and unity across our communities.

Democracy thrives on free will, transparency, and the sanctity of the ballot box. Elections are not wars to be won by any means necessary, and the people of Ogun State will not sit silently while their voices are hijacked through fear-mongering, coercion, and executive overreach.

We ask: What kind of leader threatens the throne of our respected Obas just to secure votes? What legacy does Governor Abiodun seek to leave behind, one of intimidation, dishonour, and desperation?

To the governor, we say this: Power is transient, but the people remain eternal. If you cannot win the hearts of the people through your achievements, then no amount of threats or bullying will save your party at the polls.

To the royal fathers, we say: Stand strong. The people are behind you. History will not forget those who stood on the side of truth.

  • Ex-Governor Gbenga Daniel Accuses Ogun Governor Abiodun of Targeting His Properties for Demolition.

Senator Gbenga Daniel, a former Ogun State governor now representing Ogun East, has accused current Governor Dapo Abiodun of targeting him with politically motivated demolition orders against multiple properties in Sagamu.

On Friday, August 8, demolition notices were posted on Daniel’s private residence (The Asoludero Court), Conference Hotels Limited, and its annexe around 4 PM. The notices cited alleged construction violations and gave just three days’ warning before potential demolition.

Daniel dismissed the charges as baseless, noting that his properties predate the regulations being cited against them. The Asoludero Court was constructed in 2004, Conference Hotel in 2013, and the annexe in 2015 - all built years before the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law No. 61 of 2022 took effect.

“This is nothing but clear political persecution,” Daniel stated, criticizing the administration for attempting to retroactively apply new laws to older structures that were legally built under previous regulations.

The former governor also challenged the legal process, arguing that proper procedures require sequential notifications with adequate time intervals between contravention notices, quit notices, and any demolition threats.

This latest controversy follows a September 2023 incident where DATKEM Plaza in Ijebu Ode, owned by Daniel’s wife Yeye Olufunke Daniel, was demolished by state officials. That case remains in court, with Daniel claiming the state has lost several applications, suggesting their actions lacked legal foundation.

Governor Abiodun previously defended the 2023 demolition, stating that no one is above building regulations and that even his own properties would face demolition if they violated codes. The government justified that action by claiming the five-story plaza lacked proper permits.

Daniel has called for public condemnation of what he terms an abuse of power and vowed to pursue all legal remedies to hold the governor accountable for what he characterizes as lawless actions.

  • Nigerian Man Regains Freedom After Being Detained Since 1999 For Stolen Generator.

A Nigerian man, Kolawole Oladeji who has been in detention since 1999 has regained his freedom over a stolen generator case.

He regained his freedom after spending over 20 years in jail following a death sentence in 2003.

Oladeji was released alongside Ogbona Igbojionu, who was convicted with him. Their case gained public attention thanks to TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, known as Seaking, who campaigned for their release.

Oladeji was arrested on October 30, 1999, after a generator allegedly stolen by another person was brought to his workshop for repairs.

Despite maintaining his innocence, he was tried with three others and sentenced to death by hanging on January 14, 2003.

He claimed that Segun Ajibade, identified as the main culprit, was freed in 2016 by then Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, while he remained in prison. Oladeji said, “I have been in jail since 1999 for a crime I did not commit. I am a generator repairer.”

In 2018, his appeal was dismissed by the Court of Appeal in Ibadan after his lawyer withdrew the case. In November 2020, Oladeji petitioned Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for clemency, pleading for mercy and a chance to reunite with his family.

His release marks the end of more than two decades on death row, highlighting the long delay in justice for his case.
