One Dead In Abuja Building Collapse, Fire Service Urges Compliance With Safety Standards
A 25-year-old man has been confirmed dead after a building foundation collapsed at an excavation site within Radio House, Area 8, Garki, Abuja.
The Federal Fire Service (FFS) said its rescue teams recovered the victim’s body and handed it to his family after responding to a distress call on Sunday, August 24.
In a statement, FFS spokesperson DCF PO Abraham expressed condolences and warned construction companies to strictly adhere to safety standards to prevent future tragedies.
The incident adds to a growing spate of collapses in Abuja, with fatal cases reported this year in Gwarinpa, Jabi, and Kubwa, sparking concerns over poor engineering practices and weak enforcement of building regulations.
