• Wahala Don Set Oo! Lady Accuses Pastor Bolaji Of Fathering Tiwa Savage’s Son, Social Media Explodes

Wahala don burst for social media as a viral post has accused Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters Church of being the biological father of Tiwa Savage’s son, Jamil. The X user shared a photo of Tiwa, her 10-year-old son and the pastor standing together, claiming the singer had her child “with a pastor” and should be ashamed. However, available records show that Jamil is the biological son of Tiwa Savage and her ex-husband, Tunji “Teebillz” Balogun. The couple were legally married when Jamil was born in 2015 before separating years later. Tiwa and her son have been attending Pastor Bolaji’s church since late 2025, where he has publicly welcomed and prayed for them. The innocent photo has now been twisted into a paternity allegation, sparking heated reactions online. Tiwa Savage is yet to respond to the claim as fans continue to defend her and call out the false narrative.

  • Wahala Burst for Edo Oo! Ekpoma DPO Under Fire Over ‘Hausa Officer Who Won’t Listen’ Remark Amid Protest

Wahala don set for Edo State oo! A Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area, is currently facing heavy backlash after a video surfaced online in which he allegedly made an ethnically charged statement while addressing protesters.

In the viral footage circulating on social media, the officer—whose identity is yet to be officially confirmed—is heard telling demonstrators:
“Don’t worry, I will leave Ekpoma, and they will bring a Hausa officer who won’t listen to anybody.”

The remark was reportedly made during a protest sparked by the killing of a young medical graduate, who was abducted and later murdered by kidnappers even after a ransom had been paid. The tragic incident had triggered anger and frustration among residents, who took to the streets to demand improved security and accountability.

However, instead of calming tensions, the DPO’s comment has now set social media on fire, with many Nigerians describing it as insensitive, divisive, and ethnically provocative.

Nigerians React: “This One No Pure At All”

Following the video’s circulation, reactions poured in from across the country, with many users condemning what they described as ethnic stereotyping and unprofessional conduct by a senior police officer.

One X user, Mr Gerald (@Mr_Gerrie01), wrote:

    > “A very insensitive police officer.”

Another user, Everything Politics (@Everypolitics1), said:

    > “This statement is troubling because it unfairly stereotypes and dehumanises Hausa people, implying they are incapable of empathy or dialogue. Ethnicity should never be used as a threat or a tool of intimidation.”

    Ekong De Superstar (@EkongGodson) added:

    > “Imagine what a supposed DPO is spewing. Protecting the lives of the people you swore to serve has now turned to ethnic tirade.”

Similarly, Mister Balo (@MubarakBalogun) described the comment as irresponsible, while Iamowolabi (@Iamowolabi01) urged the officer to focus on his duty:

    > “Oga, do your job to protect people, no deh threaten them.”

“We Need Security, Not Ethnic Talk”

Other Nigerians acknowledged the emotional tension surrounding the protest but insisted that bringing ethnicity into the matter only worsens divisions.

    Hephzibah Behulah (@HephzibaBehulah) wrote:

    > “No one should have to live in fear of kidnapping every day, especially students just trying to get an education. That case where the young medical graduate was killed even after ransom was paid is tragic and shows how bad things have gotten.”

She added that while the DPO may have sounded frustrated, invoking ethnicity was unnecessary and harmful:

    > “The protesters are right to demand better security. Threatening to replace one officer with another who ‘won’t listen’ doesn’t solve the real problem.”

    Calls for Accountability Grow Louder

As the controversy continues, many Nigerians are now calling on the Edo State Police Command and the Nigeria Police Force headquarters to address the matter, investigate the officer’s conduct, and reaffirm their commitment to professionalism and unity.

For many observers, the incident reflects a deeper frustration with insecurity, police-community relations, and the handling of public anger over kidnappings and violent crime.

  • Police Detain Osun Activists Over Report of Deadly Stampede at APC Aspirant Bola Oyebamiji’s Residence

The Nigerian Police have detained civic activists in Osun State following their reports of an alleged stampede that reportedly claimed three lives during a food distribution event at the Ikire residence of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Bola Oyebamiji. The arrests have sparked widespread concern over freedom of expression, civic reporting, and due process.

According to family sources, Mr. Abiodun Adegoke, National Coordinator of the Concerned Citizens of Nigeria (CCN), was arrested in Osogbo after publishing claims about a December 27, 2025 incident in which a stampede allegedly occurred during the distribution of rice and cash gifts. He had reportedly called on security agencies to investigate the incident and maintained that he possessed verifiable information and community accounts. Instead of being invited for questioning, he was allegedly arrested without prior engagement, denied bail, and faced possible transfer to Abuja without a court order.

In a separate statement, the CCN condemned the arrest of another member, Mr. Iyiola Monsuru, describing it as an attack on freedom of expression and civic responsibility. The group said the stampede reportedly happened in the early hours of the morning during the distribution of food items and envelopes allegedly containing ₦2,000, leading to the deaths of a woman, Mrs. Buli Balogun (popularly known as Iya Eleelo), and two other persons.

The organisation emphasized that incidents involving loss of life should be thoroughly investigated rather than suppressed, warning that arresting citizens for reporting such matters undermines democratic accountability. CCN demanded the immediate and unconditional release of its members and urged security agencies to conduct a transparent, impartial investigation into the alleged deaths.

SaharaReporters learned that the arrests followed a social media post titled “Three Feared Dead At Bola Oyebamiji’s Residence In Ikire,” in which Adegoke called for an official probe and appealed to Osun residents to demand a full account of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The development has intensified national debate around police conduct, political pressure, human rights, and the shrinking space for civic engagement in Nigeria, particularly as the 2026 Osun State governorship election approaches.

  • Is Tinubu Failing Yoruba Land? Pan-Yoruba Group Slams President Over Insecurity, Kidnapped Monarchs and ‘Silence From Power

Is Nigeria’s security crisis finally reaching a breaking point in Yoruba land—and is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu truly doing enough to stop it? These are the urgent questions being raised after a Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorùbá, publicly condemned the President over what it described as his “deafening silence” in the face of worsening insecurity across the South-West.

The group’s outcry followed the shocking abduction of a Kwara State monarch, Oba S. Y. Olaonipekun, and his son, Olaolu, who were reportedly kidnapped by suspected terrorists in the Ile-Ire district. For many observers, the incident marks a dangerous escalation in Nigeria’s security crisis: when even traditional rulers—symbols of authority, culture, and community stability—are no longer safe, what hope remains for ordinary citizens?

In a strongly worded statement signed by its Convener, Olusola Badero, and released through Home Director Princess Balogun, the group accused President Tinubu of abandoning his constitutional duty as the nation’s chief security officer. According to the group, violent attacks, kidnappings, and killings have spread across Yoruba communities with little visible federal response. They argued that while statements are often issued, concrete action has been painfully absent.

The union alleged that forests and rural communities in parts of Kwara and the wider South-West have become safe havens for armed groups posing as herdsmen, whom they directly described as terrorists. It lamented what it called the humiliation of Yoruba traditional institutions, stressing that the kidnapping of monarchs was once unimaginable in the region’s history. Quoting a Yoruba proverb—“Oríadé kì í sùn tán” (Royalty does not sleep outside)—the group said the abduction of kings represents not only a security failure but also a deep cultural wound.

Beyond insecurity, the group launched a broader political critique of President Tinubu’s leadership. They accused him of prioritising personal interests, political allies, and future elections over the immediate safety and welfare of citizens. They further criticised what they described as his frequent foreign trips, alleging that he enjoys public funds abroad while Nigerians face poverty, fear, collapsing healthcare, and deteriorating schools at home. For the group, this contrast symbolises a widening gap between those in power and the people they govern.

The statement also targeted Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, accusing the state government of failing to protect residents. The group demanded the immediate release of the abducted monarch and his son, as well as other kidnapped citizens, including workers from the Kwara State Ministry of Works.

To underline what it sees as a pattern of lawlessness, the union recalled earlier incidents, including the killing of Segun Aremu, a retired army general and monarch (the Olúkòrò of Koro), and the abduction of Kamilu Salami, the Oníbàrà of Bayagan Ile, who reportedly spent weeks in captivity before regaining freedom. These cases, the group argued, show that the crisis is not isolated but systemic.

Perhaps most striking is the group’s warning that continued political inaction could lead to long-term devastation: deserted villages, abandoned farmlands, and forests fully occupied by armed groups. They questioned how elections can even matter if citizens are no longer safe enough to live in their communities. “Who will be alive to vote,” they asked, “if our villages are deserted and our forests controlled by terrorists?”

The union went further, calling on Yoruba people at home and in the diaspora to take collective responsibility for protecting their region, suggesting that reliance on political leaders who have “clearly failed” could invite even greater catastrophe.

As this controversy unfolds, Nigerians are left with uncomfortable but necessary questions: Has the federal government lost control of internal security? Is President Tinubu doing enough to protect his own region? And what happens when traditional institutions—once seen as untouchable—become targets of violence?

On Fintter, this story is more than breaking news; it is a national conversation about leadership, accountability, and survival. Are these criticisms justified, or are they politically motivated? Can Nigeria still reverse its security decline, or has the crisis reached a point of no return? The answers may shape not just the future of Yoruba land, but the fate of the entire nation.

What do you think? Is Tinubu truly failing on security—or is the crisis beyond any single leader? Share your thoughts and join the debate on Fintter.

  • Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu Orders Demolition of GNI Building and Nearby Houses After Deadly Lagos Island Fire Kills Eight, Triggers Safety Concerns

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered the demolition of the Great Nigeria Insurance (GNI) building and some surrounding structures following the devastating fire outbreak that occurred on December 24 in the Balogun area of Lagos Island. The inferno claimed the lives of eight people—five of whom have been identified—while three victims remain unidentified, and at least thirteen people have been rescued so far.

Speaking during an on-site assessment, the governor declared the area unsafe, directing that all commercial and unauthorized activities around the GNI building must cease immediately. He explained that emergency responders are still carefully combing through the rubble to ensure no one remains trapped, particularly at the rear section of the collapsed structure.

Sanwo-Olu said a comprehensive structural assessment showed that the building was no longer stable, making demolition unavoidable, with some neighbouring buildings also marked for removal in the interest of public safety. He stressed that while the decision is difficult, protecting lives remains the government’s top priority.

The governor assured affected residents and business owners that the Lagos State Government would manage the recovery process responsibly and provide necessary support to families impacted by the tragedy. Meanwhile, investigations into the cause of the fire—which engulfed several floors of the 22-storey commercial building used largely for warehousing—are ongoing, as public concern continues over safety standards in densely populated commercial districts of Lagos Island.

One of the victims, Nze Obum, a China-based cloth merchant, was later confirmed dead after being buried under the rubble.

Audio recordings of Obum’s final phone calls have since surfaced online, revealing his desperate pleas for rescue as he lay trapped beneath the debris. According to reports, Obum had returned to Nigeria for the Christmas holidays to support his wife, who had just given birth, and to sell goods at the market. He was reportedly retrieving remaining stock from his shop when the building collapsed.

A fellow trader, Zacheaus Afolayan, confirmed Obum’s death, stating that his body was recovered by emergency responders and released to his family for burial in Anambra State. • “We Buried Ashes”: Family Alleges Lagos Govt Cover-Up After Three Relatives Died In Collapsed 25-Storey GNI Building Fire At Balogun Market

A Nigerian family has accused the Lagos State Government and emergency agencies of downplaying casualties following the devastating fire and partial collapse of the 25-storey Great Nigeria Insurance (GNI) building at Balogun Market, Lagos Island. The blaze, which started on December 24, spread rapidly through several floors and caused part of the structure to collapse, trapping traders inside.

According to a relative, Mr. Emmanuel Anumba, three siblings from the Omatu family were killed, but their bodies were burnt beyond recognition, forcing the family to bury ashes recovered from the debris. He alleged that rescue efforts lacked urgency, adequate equipment, and proper evacuation, despite repeated pleas to authorities. Traders and eyewitnesses also claimed that firefighting efforts were delayed and that many victims remain unaccounted for, with unofficial estimates suggesting dozens may have died.

While the Lagos State Government maintains that no casualty was officially recorded, it has ordered the immediate evacuation of buildings within a 100-metre radius of the site after experts warned of structural dangers. The incident has intensified public concern over safety standards, emergency response failures, and alleged attempts to suppress the true human toll of the tragedy.

  • Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu Condoles Victims Of Great Nigeria House Fire, Visits Balogun As Emergency Agencies Battle Inferno

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed deep sorrow over the devastating fire outbreak at the Great Nigeria House located in the Balogun area of Lagos Island, describing the incident as painful and distressing for victims and business owners affected by the disaster. The governor conveyed his condolences in a statement shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, December 25, 2025.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed that he personally visited the Balogun axis to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the damage caused by the inferno, stressing that the magnitude of loss suffered by traders and occupants could not be fully conveyed through written reports alone. According to him, witnessing the aftermath firsthand provided a clearer understanding of the pain, destruction, and economic setback faced by those impacted.

The governor commended firefighters, emergency responders, and relevant agencies for their swift and coordinated response, noting that their courage and dedication helped contain the blaze and prevented it from spreading to nearby buildings. He acknowledged that their timely intervention saved lives and reduced what could have been an even more catastrophic incident in the densely populated commercial hub.

Sanwo-Olu assured affected individuals that the Lagos State Government would continue to assess the situation and provide necessary support to victims as recovery efforts progress. Reaffirming the resilience of Lagos residents, he stated that the state has always demonstrated strength in moments of adversity and expressed confidence that the affected community would recover.

The fire outbreak, which reportedly started on the upper floors of the multi-storey Great Nigeria Insurance House, disrupted commercial activities around Martins Street and raised concerns over the safety of goods stored in the building, which is widely used for warehousing clothing materials. Officials from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that several floors were affected, though no casualties had been recorded as of the latest update.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, as emergency teams remain on ground to ensure safety and prevent further incidents. Business owners and workers in the area continue to await a clearer assessment of losses amid fears of significant material damage.

• ARMY, EFCC in Fresh Synergy against Graft in Edo

The Commander, 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General A. O. Balogun has pledged the support of the Nigeria Army to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in its fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes.

Balogun made this pledge on Monday December 8, 2025 while on a courtesy visit to the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Commission. According to the General, who recently assumed office as the Commander of 4 Brigade, Benin City, the EFCC needs the support of every Nigerian given its role as the foremost anti-corruption agency in Nigeria.

The General further noted that the Commission needed the support of critical stakeholders to successfully block or trace the movement of funds to nip financial offences in the bud. "If we can detect the flow of funds, we can nip such crimes in the bud."

He disclosed that the Commission and the military has had a long history of collaboration, including training of personnel, curtailing illegal oil bunkering and a host of others . "One of the reasons for our visit is to familiarise ourselves with the leadership of the Commission so that we can build on the existing relationships between the two institutions. It is not about competition but about collaboration. It doesn't matter who kills the snake as much as the snake is killed."
He revealed the military is willing to collaborate and offer any kind of support to the Commission whenever it is called upon to do so.

Responding, the Acting Zonal Director of the Benin, Deputy Commander of the Commission, DCE Sa'ad Hanafi Sa'ad commended the army general and his men for their visit. He noted that synergy and collaboration were crucial as no single agency or institution can effectively eliminate crimes and criminality in the society. 'We build synergy and collaborate with relevant stakeholders and the Nigeria Army is a critical stakeholder. Our interest and your interest are the same, which is to have a better Nigeria and so we are willing to collaborate with you."

  • The Yoruba Revolutionary Movement (YOREM) has rejected any possibility of U.S. military intervention in Nigeria, following President Donald Trump's recent threat to deploy American forces after redesignating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC).
In a statement by National Coordinator Comrade Wale Balogun, YOREM said it firmly opposes foreign invasion and warned that the real danger facing Yorubaland is internal extremist colonisation, especially from terrorist Fulani herdsmen and jihadist groups seeking territorial and ideological expansion.
    Key Points from YOREM’s Statement

No to U.S. military action: YOREM says foreign powers have historically contributed to Nigeria’s instability and should not be allowed to intervene militarily.

Defend Yorubaland: The group called on all Yoruba people, within and outside Nigeria, to protect their land against extremist threats.

Criticism of collaborators: YOREM accused some Yoruba individuals of aiding forces destabilising the region for personal gain.

Historical warnings: Balogun referenced the 19th-century Fulani expansion halted at Osogbo in 1840, noting that similar patterns are emerging today.

Unity among Yoruba groups: The organisation urged Yoruba self-determination leaders—including Gani Adams, COSEG, Banji Akintoye, Sunday Igboho, YSDM, and the Yoruba Leadership Forum—to take coordinated action.

Push for Yoruba autonomy: YOREM renewed its call for a Pan-Yoruba Constituents Assembly (PYCA) to draft a blueprint for autonomy within a restructured Nigeria—or a sovereign Oodua Republic if required.

    Call to leaders:

    Obas should form vigilante structures.

    Lawmakers should support state policing.

Lagos State should strengthen Amotekun as a legitimate security arm.

Preserve Yoruba culture: The group urged an end to all forms of violence in Yorubaland and warned that Nigeria’s secularism is being eroded by religious bias.

YOREM concluded that although foreign intervention may seem attractive, history shows it often leads to consequences “far worse than current challenges.”

The ministry confirmed that the payment process began following a high-level meeting with NARD leadership, led by Iziaq Salako, minister of State for Health which aimed to address the pressing issues raised by health workers, including resident doctors, and to explore solutions to the ongoing industrial dispute.

According to Alaba Balogun, the deputy director /head of information & public relations, who signed the ministry’s statement, ₦21.3 billion have been approved by President Bola Tinubu and moved into the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) account as of October 30, 2025, with payments already underway.

The government said it is in the final stages of processing an additional ₦11.995 billion within the next 72 hours which will cover outstanding allowances such as accoutrement payments.

The ministry also noted a ₦10 billion paid in August 2025 to cover seven months of arrears related to the 25% and 35% upward revision of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS).

“All these payments are being enjoyed by members of NARD in accordance with the salary structure in the health sector”, the statement read.

  • Opposition Kicks As National Assembly Moves To Shift 2027 Elections To 2026.

Opposition in the country is enraged over a fresh bid by the National Assembly to move the 2027 presidential and governorship elections to November 2026.

The proposal is part of amendments to the 2022 Electoral Act, which seeks to move the elections forward by about six months to allow all pre and post-election litigations to be concluded before the May 29, 2027, handover date.

If the bid is successful, the presidential and gubernatorial elections would be conducted in November 2026, rather than the traditional February or March dates.

The proposal forms part of the draft amendments to the 2022 Electoral Act, which stipulate that elections for both offices must be held no later than 185 days before the expiration of the incumbent’s tenure on May 29.

Section 4(7) of the proposed amendment states that “elections into the office of the president and governor of a state shall be held not later than 185 days before the expiration of the term of office of the last holder of the office.”

For legislative elections, Section 4(5) of the proposed amendment provides that “elections into the state houses of assembly and the National Assembly shall be held not later than 185 days before the date on which each of the houses stands dissolved.”

At Monday’s joint public hearing, the House Committee on Electoral Matters, chaired by Adebayo Balogun, argued that moving the polls to November 2026 would help “ensure that all manner of election litigations are dispensed with before the swearing-in of winners.”

Balogun stated that the goal was to create sufficient time for the resolution of election petitions, as the committee also proposed an amendment that would reduce the 180-day tribunal judgment period to 90 days.

  • Okikiola Layi-Balogun Denies Housebreaking Allegations, Says Tenant’s Claims Are False

Mr. Okikiola Layi-Balogun, son of the late presidential aspirant under the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), Architect Olayiwola Osuolale Balogun, has dismissed allegations of housebreaking and theft leveled against him by his former tenant, Mr. Adekunle Taiwo.

Speaking on Monday, September 29, 2025, Layi-Balogun described the allegations as false, malicious, and intended to damage his reputation.

The matter, which is before Magistrate R.A. Richard at the Iyaganku Magistrate Court in Ibadan, concerns a property located at Old Bodija, a house built by his late father and where he was raised. He explained that Taiwo, who had occupied the boy’s quarters of the property since 2015, had a history of disputes with neighbors and never fully recognized him as landlord.

According to Layi-Balogun, Taiwo’s claims are an attempt to compel an out-of-court settlement and extort millions of naira. He said the case has placed him under years of unnecessary pressure, affected his family’s name, and cost him job opportunities as the allegations lingered.

“This matter has left a permanent scar on my life,” he said. “I grew up in that house; it is my family home. I am innocent of all the accusations, and all I seek is justice and the restoration of my good name.”

He expressed gratitude for finally having the opportunity to present his side of the story, insisting that the accusations were baseless and unfairly designed to malign him.

  • Yoruba political organization warns Nigerian youths not to make mistake of voting Tinubu again.

The Yoruba socio-political organisation, Ìgbìmò Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorùbá, has again criticised President Bola Tinubu, accusing him of using propaganda to exaggerate progress while millions of Nigerians continue to suffer.

The union highlighted that Nigeria is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, with widespread hunger forcing citizens into desperate measures.

In a statement released on Tuesday and signed by the group’s Convener, Olusola Badero, and Home Director, Princess Balogun, the union said the dignity of the Yoruba people has been eroded by harsh economic policies, including the removal of the fuel subsidy.

The union further criticised the government’s focus on foreign trips while failing to address hunger, insecurity, and domestic welfare.

The statement read, “We cannot jeopardise the future of our people because Tinubu, who is Yoruba, is confused and has run out of ideas.

“Yoruba people do not joke or compromise their integrity, but today, things have fallen apart. Ọmọ Eleran tí jẹ Egungun — ‘The son of meat sellers is now eating bones.’

“Never in history have we witnessed such dire situations. Married women have been forced into casual relationships, children are turning to internet fraud (‘yahoo yahoo’) due to poverty and anti-people policies, and insecurity has displaced many from their ancestral homes. Farmers can no longer cultivate their lands, which have been seized by terrorists.”

“A government that cannot guarantee the safety of its people has no right to govern through propaganda and deceit.

“A government prioritising negotiations with terrorists instead of neutralising them has failed its fundamental duty. Businesses have collapsed, family heads are ridiculed for their inability to provide, and children are dropping out of school because parents cannot afford education.”

“We urge Nigerians to go out in large numbers to register to vote and to never repeat the mistake of voting for Tinubu and his allies, who have subjected citizens to modern-day slavery through anti-people policies. Tinubu’s only apparent achievement has been imposing more taxes on the people,” the statement added.

Ọmọ Eleran tí jẹ Egungun — ‘The son of meat sellers is now eating bones.’ “Never in history have we witnessed such dire situations. Married women have been forced into casual relationships, children are turning to internet fraud (‘yahoo yahoo’) due to poverty and anti-people policies, and insecurity has displaced many from their ancestral homes. Farmers can no longer cultivate their lands, which have been seized by terrorists.” “A government that cannot guarantee the safety of its people has no right to govern through propaganda and deceit. “A government prioritising negotiations with terrorists instead of neutralising them has failed its fundamental duty. Businesses have collapsed, family heads are ridiculed for their inability to provide, and children are dropping out of school because parents cannot afford education.” “We urge Nigerians to go out in large numbers to register to vote and to never repeat the mistake of voting for Tinubu and his allies, who have subjected citizens to modern-day slavery through anti-people policies. Tinubu’s only apparent achievement has been imposing more taxes on the people,” the statement added.
