Obi Slams Tinubu Over Europe Vacation: "Nigerian Lives Matter More"
Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has harshly criticized President Bola Tinubu for embarking on a 10-day vacation to France and the United Kingdom, just days after returning from a two-week official trip to Japan and Brazil.
Obi, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), accused Tinubu of avoiding pressing national issues such as insecurity, hunger, and the recent boat tragedy in Niger State that claimed over 60 lives.
“Where is the compassion for Nigerian lives, Mr. President? No holiday is more important than the lives you swore to protect,” Obi stated.
He highlighted that 79% of Nigerians face food insecurity, and recent global rankings list Nigeria as the worst place to give birth and to live, yet the president continues to spend significant time abroad.
Obi urged for sacrifice, empathy, and on-ground leadership, saying true governance means being present with the people during crises—not vacationing abroad.
