IPOB Lawyer Warns Emotional Reactions Could Undermine Kanu’s Appea
Human rights lawyer and IPOB counsel, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has urged calm and strategic planning following the life imprisonment of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu by the Federal High Court in Abuja on November 20, 2025. Ejiofor warned that emotional reactions, misinformation, and public grandstanding risk undermining Kanu’s appeal, describing any uncoordinated legal action as “dead on arrival.”
He emphasized the need for a discreet, high-level intervention led by influential Igbo political figures, supported by internationally recognised legal experts, before filing any appeal. Key steps include securing Kanu’s explicit mandate, aligning on strategy, and engaging the Federal Government for a politically plausible resolution. Ejiofor appealed for patience and disciplined execution, assuring supporters that with proper coordination, success remains achievable.
