BREAKING: Tanker Overturns, Blocks Lapai–Agaie Road Weeks After Deadly Explosion in Niger State
Traffic on the Lapai–Agaie Road in Niger State was disrupted on Monday morning when a fuel tanker’s compartment detached from the main truck, obstructing the road. The driver, travelling from Lagos to Gombe, reported the incident, but no casualties were recorded. Security agencies and firefighters quickly responded to prevent any fire hazards, and the area remains under tight security while the obstruction is cleared.
The incident comes weeks after a tragic tanker explosion on October 21, 2025, along the Bida–Agaie expressway, which reportedly killed between 35 and 39 people and injured over 60. The Niger State Tanker Drivers Association cited poor road conditions, noting that more than 30 tanker accidents occurred on the route in October alone. FRSC officials continue to warn against unsafe practices, including scooping fuel from accident scenes.
