Senator Barau Donates N200 Million Worth of Gadgets to Kano Market Fire Victims
Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, on Sunday visited the Farm Centre phone market in Kano to commiserate with traders affected by a devastating fire that occurred on Friday.
During the visit, Senator Barau announced a donation of gadgets valued at N200 million to support victims of the blaze. The donation, he said, is aimed at alleviating the impact of the tragedy and aiding the recovery of the affected traders.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, the senator described the incident as a divine test and highlighted the market’s crucial role in youth employment and economic activity in the state.
“We are proud of this market and the thousands of youths who earn their livelihood here. My office will work with your leadership to determine the specific gadgets needed,” he said.
To further enhance security in the area, Barau also donated a Hilux vehicle, five motorcycles, and 1,000 solar-powered street lights. He additionally promised the construction of a pedestrian bridge to improve accessibility and safety.
Market chairman, Alhaji Jamilu Gama, expressed deep appreciation for the senator’s support and outreach, praising him as a public servant whose efforts go beyond his senatorial district.
“You are a rare kind of senator. May Allah reward you abundantly,” Gama said.
