Reps Pledge Speedy Passage of Constitutional Amendment Bill

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has assured Nigerians of the timely passage of the constitutional amendment bill. Speaking at the National Public Hearing on the review of the 1999 Constitution in Abuja, Abbas pledged that the House would treat public contributions with diligence, fairness, and urgency.

He emphasized collaboration with state assemblies, the executive, and citizens to ensure smooth passage, adding that the reforms would positively impact all sectors. Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu also promised an all-inclusive process.

Representing President Bola Tinubu, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, praised the committee’s efforts to engage citizens, civil society, political groups, and traditional institutions in the amendment process, affirming the administration’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions.
