El-Rufai Should Be Questioned Over Bandits’ Payment Allegation — Datti Baba-Ahmed

Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has called for former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to be questioned over his claims that the Federal Government is paying monthly allowances to bandits.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed said such allegations should not be dismissed with levity by the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).

“If the so-called office of the National Security Adviser would take this statement with levity, then Nuhu Ribadu was never a policeman; he is not a qualified lawyer; he should not be in that office,” he said.

El-Rufai had alleged on Sunday that the Federal Government was running a “kiss-the-bandits policy” by providing money and food to armed groups under the guise of non-kinetic measures. He insisted the initiative was a “national policy” driven by the NSA’s office.

While the NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, denied the claim as baseless, Baba-Ahmed dismissed the rebuttal, stressing that the seriousness of El-Rufai’s statement required official investigation.

“Nasir should be writing some statements to the police, to the courts,” he maintained.
