Benue Police Confirm Rescue of Six Kidnapped Law Students

Benue State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of six law students who were kidnapped on July 28, 2025, along the Benue-Taraba border while en route to the Nigerian Law School in Adamawa State.

According to a statement released on Friday by the Command’s spokesperson, Udeme Edet, the students were traveling from Anambra State to the Yola campus of the Law School when they fell into the hands of kidnappers near the state boundary.

“Please be informed that the police have successfully rescued six law students of the Yola campus, who were abducted on July 26, 2025... They have been safely released and reunited with their families this morning, August 1, 2025,” the statement read.

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Afam Osigwe, had first revealed the abduction during the NBA North-Central Regional Security Summit in Makurdi, where he decried the rising insecurity in the region.
