Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani

Early Life

Abdul Qadir Jilani was born in the year 1077 in a small town called Jilan, in present-day Iran. From a young age, he was known for his honesty, discipline, and deep love for knowledge.

His mother was a righteous woman who raised him with strong values. She taught him to always speak the truth, no matter the situation. This lesson would later define his entire life.

As a child, Abdul Qadir was quiet and thoughtful. While other children played, he often preferred to sit alone, reflecting and learning.

Journey to Baghdad

At the age of 18, Abdul Qadir decided to travel to Baghdad, which was then one of the greatest centers of learning in the world.

Before he left, his mother gave him some money and one important instruction:

“Never lie, even if your life is in danger.”

On his journey, he encountered a group of robbers. When they asked if he had any money, he told them the truth. At first, they laughed at him. But when they found the money hidden in his clothes, they were shocked.

The leader of the robbers was deeply moved. He said,

“You are not afraid to tell the truth even in danger, but we disobey God daily.”

That moment changed their lives. The robbers repented, and Abdul Qadir continued his journey safely.
