IN LOVE WITH MY SECRETARY Episode 2
Eniola’s POV
It started subtly, almost imperceptibly. I began to notice the small ways Oluyemi included me in decisions that were far beyond my role. Late-night meetings that required my notes, briefings that only the senior management team usually attended. And yet, he wanted me there. I told myself it was professional necessity, but the truth was harder to swallow he trusted me in a way no one else ever had.
One evening, the office was empty except for us. A major shipment had gone missing, and we stayed back to sort out the logistics. The fluorescent lights cast a quiet glow over the office, and the city buzzed faintly outside. He leaned over my desk to look at a spreadsheet, his hand brushing mine. I pulled back quickly, embarrassed, my heart hammering. But instead of anger, I caught a fleeting smile in his eyes. A moment of vulnerability he rarely showed.
I couldn’t stop thinking about it. About him. About the tension that seemed to stretch silently between us every time our eyes met. I told myself repeatedly: boundaries. Professionalism. Rules. Yet, each day blurred those lines just a little more. I found myself lingering near his office after finishing tasks, not because I needed to, but because I wanted to.
Oluyemi’s POV
I tried to fight it. I really did. I reminded myself that she was my employee. That crossing the line would be disastrous. But every smile, every thoughtful suggestion, every soft word of encouragement she gave made it impossible to return to the cold, orderly world I had built.
It was during a late-night meeting that I realized I was done pretending. She stayed late to help reorganize files for the new client proposal. We were the only ones left in the office. She was leaning over my desk, correcting a minor error, and I caught the way she bit her lip as she focused. My chest tightened in a way I hadn’t felt in years.
I wanted to reach out, to brush the stray hair from her face, to tell her how much I admired her, how much she mattered. But I held back. Just barely. Because I knew that one wrong move could destroy everything her career, my reputation, our fragile balance.
Yet, when she glanced up and our eyes met, I saw it there too. That same longing, that same hesitation, that quiet awareness that we were both feeling something forbidden. The office wasn’t just a workspace anymore; it had become a place charged with unspoken words and secret glances.
And then, in a fleeting moment, we smiled at each other, silently acknowledging it: we were crossing the line. Not in actions, not yet, but in feeling. The first crack had widened into a chasm, and neither of us could ignore it.
We returned to our tasks, pretending nothing had changed. But deep inside, we both knew the truth: boundaries were beginning to blur, and once the line was gone, nothing would be the same.
