FORSAKEN BLESSING Episode 2
EPISODE 2: THE CHILD WHO BECAME LIGHT
Life was not kind to Mrs Titi.
She hawked pure water with baby Akin tied to her back.
She washed clothes for neighbors.
She skipped meals so her son could eat.
Sometimes, hunger knocked so hard that she cried silently at night. But every morning, she stood up again.
Because of Akin.
From a young age, Akin was different.
Quiet.
Observant.
Kind.
He helped his mother fetch water. He shared food with other children even when he had little. Teachers noticed his brilliance early. He always came first, even when he had no textbooks.
Mrs Titi would sit outside their room at night, watching him read under a dim lantern, tears of pride in her eyes.
“This is the child they wanted me to kill,” she would whisper.
Years passed.
Akin grew.
He earned scholarships.
He worked part time.
He never forgot his mother’s sacrifices.
One day, he stood before her and said:
“Mummy, rest. I’ll take care of everything now.”
And he did.
Akin succeeded in life. He became the breadwinner, not just for his mother, but for others too. He built her a better home. He gave her peace. He gave her dignity.
Meanwhile, Baba Samuel aged.
Work slowed down. Strength faded. Children grew and left. One day, he heard the name Akin a successful young man doing great things.
Only then did he realize…
The child he rejected
was the blessing he needed most.
But it was too late.
Because destiny does not beg.
